Congrats. I've been using the L86 with thermal and grip and I love it, but I had considered running it with a silencer. What game type were you playing? I mostly use the L86 in Demolition games.
Domination is what I play mostly, it's a great setup and most of the lobbies I played last night had at least 4 or 5 guys running LMG's, they seem to be more popular than the striker.. Which I am not complaining about been running blind eye Pro, assassin Pro, dead silence Pro. L86 is a beast when taking out air support
Thanks to you guys for suggesting the L86 + thermal. I decided to rank up the L86 this weekend to see what the fuss is all about, and that thing is definitely nasty with the thermal scope on. My buddy and I played Drop Zone for a few hours yesterday and between the two of us spaming the DZ with smoke grenades and me clearing everyone out with the L86, we managed to win almost every game. Now I am stuck at level 30 (autumn camo) on both the L86 and the KSG-12. SO close to gold camo!
Downloaded the new map pack for the PS3 this weekend (about a month after it came out on XBL). So far I dig it, although as is always the case when new maps are released, every lobby I entered was filled with people camping and a majority of the matches timed out. Overwatch seems like it has potential. Double XP weekend meant leveling up more guns in the quest for gold camo. Maxed out the KSG-12, and managed to get both the AA-12 and RSASS partway through level 30. Why the hell don't more people use the AA-12? That gun with extended mags and damage is brutal, and I honestly cannot think of the last time I came across someone else running it in a match. With extended mags you just hold the trigger down and usually can clear our 2-3 guys in a group before having to reload. I love it, and that "bang bang bang bang" sound is unmistakable across the board.
Well they finally integrated the new maps into the regular rotation. Only took them about a month or so. This whole "1 map pack a month" thing is bullshit. I rather have the 5 maps drop at once like that did with MW2.
I am surprised IW didn't go that route either, since it would be another selling point to subscribing to their horseshit Elite service. As it stands I am perfectly happy waiting for all of the map packs to come out at once like they did a week or two ago. Has anyone else become bored with MW3? Maybe it's because MW2 was my first FPS game ever, but it seemed that MW2 had significantly longer staying power that MW3 currently does. I don't know what it is really (shitty maps? shitty weapons?), but I just do not enjoy playing MW3 more than once a week or so these days. And that's usually only after about 8-10 drinks at the bar.
I'm the same way, but for me it's the lag comp. It seems it takes me four or five hitmarkers to kill the enemy, but I will instantly drop without even taking damage. I'll be walking/ running around and all the sudden I'll just be dead. No red screen, no vibration, nothing.
I think the maps. With the exception of Arkadan, I don't get excited for any of them. Even the new ones, except for Black Box, that shit is fun as hell.
I got drunk and prestiged again so I have been just using different guns and perks than I normally did. Also since I haven't played with anyone I know if a few months I have been playing KC and Dom and just trying to single handedly win matches, K/D be dammed. Haven't played K/C in awhile, amazes me how many people make no effort to grab tags, went on a 8 game streak having over 2000 points and the worst K/D on the team.
Not wasting my money on this shit again, that's for sure. Fool me once Treyarch, shame on you. Fool me twice, fuck you, I'm not playing that shit again.
I was thinking the same thing. Unless the multiplayer is radically different from BO, I may sit this one out. As shitty as MW3 may be, it is still leagues better than BO and their seemingly random hit detection.
Well they're trying to create future warfare which is great in concept, but I said this about B.O. and I was proven right by about 30 pages of complains about it. Treyarch. I do not trust them. All the guns felt like they were made by Nerf, the hit detection was terrible, and the visceral feedback from the game was just terrible. I didn't feel it. I'm still loving MW3 with the exception of those games where I can't get going and I die before I can even see them. But jumping ship to Tom Clancy might not be a bad idea. Their new game looks fantastic.
The visceral feedback you mention is definitely my biggest issue with Black Ops, and is the main reason why it feels so much more satisfying playing MW3; the bullet sounds seem better and I can hit what I aim at (after some lag patches). Hopefully BO2 will fix that, I didn't really enjoy BO1 nearly as much as I have the MW series.
I had never played COD before buying black ops, and I wasn't that impressed with it. After reading the complaints and agreeing with all of them I traded my copy in and bought MW2. I can still play MW2 or 3 and some games get your heart racing and you can feel being into the game, BO never once came close to the experience of MW2 or 3. I'll be sitting out BO2
I hate burst guns. I've been playing since MW2, and I've never used one with any sort of success. That being said, I've had a go with the Type 95 w/ red dot, and I've been fairly successful. Add me to the list of people giving it a recommendation
I guess I'm in the minority willing to give Treyarch a chance. The team seems more interested in adding innovative features to the game and I like how Vondehar reaches out to the community for feedback and input. It's a no brainer for them to address the hit detection issues because it was the biggest complaint with BO and people will be critical of that first. The sounds of the guns don't mean anything to me because I almost always use a silencer to stay off the radar. The major things I'm interested in are balance, map design and the effectiveness of each weapon class. If Ghost/Assassin are removed from the game, I'll be very excited because the campers will have to actually shoot down UAV's if they want to stay hidden. Final Stand has also got to go. I also find that knifing needs to be adjusted to account for the absence of stopping power. It's frustrating to get the jump on someone, hit them with a few bullets, but lose the exchange because they knife you. This is true for MW3 as well. Hell, I'll even go as far as saying the absence of stopping power is what encourages people to use Ghost because the tradeoff is no longer as severe as in MW2. Stopping power also made more weapon classes viable options. This is why I was able to get gun mastery on so many weapons in that game and why I spent so much time with it. I'll wait a week or two to see what the consensus is with BO2, but I'm more inclined to buy a game from Treyarch than the gutted Infinity Ward team that rehashed so much from the last title. It would be great if there were a game mode that didn't track stats. I just picked up the game last week. The Famas was my favourite gun in MW2, so I'll give this a try. I experimented with the M16 but didn't like it.
Despite what I posted on the last page, I have a feeling I will probably end up doing the same. If I do go that route though, I am definitely going to wait a little while before buying the game to see if it is as problematic as BO was when it was first released. I bought BO on opening day and the matchmaking was HORRENDOUS, and that was if you could even get online. And agreed on nixing the stat tracking, although I highly doubt that will happen. For the previous poster that is experimenting with the Type 95, it is (or was, haven't played with it in a while) one of the most over powered guns in the game. In the past when I played with it I liked it, and I was a huge fan of the FAMAS in MW2, but be prepared for a lot of shit talking from other players if you start whooping ass with the Type 95. That's one reason I like playing with oddball guns like the shotguns: you are immediately at a disadvantage by using an inferior gun and other players can't say shit about it.
