I'm on ps3 and it's completely unplayable for me. I can't remember the last time I've played. Like you said, I'd get about 6 hit markers on someone then just instantly die without taking damage. In the killcam? My gun never fired. Happened ALL THE TIME.
You guys got your theatre recording on still? That or your connection must be wonky. Black Ops is unplayable to me. MW2 was solid. But oh well, I sure miss you guys.
I actually almost always have 3 or 4 bars. And I tried turning recording off but I didn't really notice a difference. Plus I love saving awesome kill feeds.
I turned theatre mode off when I found out it could be the cause of the problem. Hasn't made a difference. Unfortunately for me I like the guns/maps/loadout etc. in MW3 more, but if I'm not coming at someone from the side or behind, I will not kill them. It's almost impossible for me to win one-on-one battles, and finishing a game 10-20 with almost every one of my deaths being the "shoot multiple times, killcam shows no shots fired" type, is not very fun game after game. That's hilarious about the bouncing betty thing, though. I had never seen anyone do that; either in a killcam or someone on my team. Had no idea that it was legit.
Got my first MOAB! Hardcore Kill Confirmed at Hardhat. I knew I soon as I started playing this game mode that it would get me a MOAB. I had a 15 killstreak my first game with an MP7. Finally got it with a Silenced AK-47 with red dot and specialist. No camping, just running around full speed while sound whoring. The game before at Village I almost had another one but some prick noob tubed me at 22 kills.
Official Black Ops 2 reveal trailer Looks like a newer, updated version of Black Ops. Except for some of the sounds, some of them may have actually been copied from BO. Oh well, I don't really care about that. But, that probably means me and the others that liked BO will like this, and the ones that disliked BO will dislike this? Just a guess. Either way, I think it looks pretty cool. I'm extremely pumped for Zombies, though.
Yes the guns still sound like super powered rapid fire nerf guns. There was one gun that sounded remotely fun to shoot, and still none of the tactile immersion.
The X-ray scope and riot shields with holes you can shoot out of have me a bit worried. Other than that, this is shaping up to be a real sequel and I hope Sledgehammer and IW are taking notes. Here's an article that breaks down the trailer quite nicely: http://mp1st.com/2012/08/07/black-o...e-through-walls-spectator-mode-and-much-more/ For those too lazy to read the article, important things to note are that the create-a-class has been changed, giving you a fixed number of points to allocate to what you would prefer to play with. For example, you could give up your primary, equipment, and special grenades in order to equip more perks. Also, the knife is still a one hit kill, but it is no longer always available. You will have to switch to it if you want to use it. I really hope Treyarch can deliver a balanced game without horrible connection issues. If not, I'm done with COD.
Dude, everything they've done has been subpar compared to Infinity Ward. MW3 wasn't as good as MW2 but it still played and felt better than BO. You can't peace out on the series basing your decision on the redheaded stepchild's contribution to the series.
The firing of West and Zampella along with the large number of staff who resigned and joined Respawn entertainment makes me wonder why you think IW can improve COD. The creative talent that made MW2 isn’t there and the green Sledgehammer team hasn't added much. Like it or not, the team at Treyarch is the largest one with the most experience with COD. So, yeah, I think it’s fair to say this is COD’s last chance for me.
Yeah, I get the fact they lost most of their staff. But you can't tell me BO was a better game overall, point for point, than MW3. I know people complained about lag issues, but I rarely got those, even on the super busy Double XP weekends, and I'm in a major city. Besides lag issues, MW3 was blew the fuck out of B.O. as it was just a bad game once the 3, 2, 1, counted down. Some of the external dressings were nice, but once it was time to run and gun, it sucked. Jump back 50 pages, its all documented there. Even a gimpy IW and Sledgehammer can put out a better product than Treyarch. That's all I'm saying.
I wasn’t able to rank either game above the other and ended up selling them. Both have problems and it becomes a question of what someone is willing to tolerate if a decision is to be made. Connection issues are present in both, but I am less forgiving with MW3 because MW2 got this right. I don’t want to get into a point for point comparison of specific flaws in each game because at the end of the day it’s subjective and we won't get anywhere. If I must settle for one of these developers, I’ll take a chance with the creative risk takers instead of rewarding team cut-and-paste with my money. In terms of COD in general, I’m starting to get tired of perks and killstreaks. I might switch to the barebones/hardcore mode or whatever it’s called. Who knows, maybe it’ll weed out the campers and stat whores.
I feel the same way. I remember being livid with Treyarch when BO came out due to how shitty the game was, but when MW3 came out I felt more disappointed than pissed. How can a company fuck up the hosting so bad? Especially, as you stated, when the previous version nailed it? I still play MW3, mostly to pass time on the weekends when I am drinking with my buddy before we go out to the bar or whatever, but the game is categorically boring. I felt the same way with BO within a couple of months as well though, and back then I would only play because I stumbled into a pretty decent clan that had good camaraderie. BO2 looks pretty shitty, at least from the preview vid posted above. I'll buy it, because I'm a sucker, but I have very low expectations going in this time. And if the game actually does prove to be shitty, it will probably be my last purchase in the COD franchise. That is, unless Respawn puts out a killer COD-like game in the future.
Respawn is working on a very hush-hush FPS, pretty much all they've said is that it's going to be a futuristic Halo/Gears competitor, and that it's going to make the last few installments of BF and CoD look like piss.* *I made the second part up, but it's kind of a given.
Comparing one studio's work to another is like apples and oranges; they simply put out substantially different versions of the game. Some people in both camps are going to like what they like and won't listen to anything different, but it's hard to deny the curve that both companies have been on in their last 3 respective titles: Treyarch: COD3 < WaW < Black Ops IW: COD4 > MW2 > MW3 Treyarch has been steadily improving since COD3 (widely regarded as the worst game in the franchise), while IW has been on the decline since COD4 (widely regarded as the best in the franchise). Even though Treyarch set the bar low early and IW set very high standards with COD4, it's still very apparent which directions they're both going. That isn't to say BO2 will be better than MW3 - or Black Ops, for that matter - but at this point I find it difficult to objectively consider the latter studio to be superior. Infinity Ward has always delivered a more visceral experience, and the comparison isn't a close one by any means; that goes a long way in first-person shooters. However, Treyarch has them beat on everything else, from map design to community interaction to innovation. After the beginner-friendly debacle IW put out last November, they'll be on the hot seat next year when it's their turn again. That being said, I'll be too busy playing Assassin's Creed III to give a shit. And I agree that Respawn will blow the doors off the competition with whatever they have planned.
I agree with Rob's post. Regarding BO2, it was playable at an event in Cologne and some more details have emerged. http://www.destructoid.com/black-ops-ii-reinvents-the-multiplayer-experience-232613.phtml I like the option of adding burst fire to any gun and the requirement to be moving for Ghost to work. Another feature is that when you activate a UAV, spot assists are awarded for kills teammates get. This should discourage use of the RC car, and may get people to carry launchers instead of ditching secondary weapons to add perks. It'll be interesting to see the different classes people come up with using the 10-point system.
Man, it kills me to say it, but after reading that link BO2 sounds like it has...potential? Having Ghost become applicable only if you are on the move is an anti-camping measure that people have been suggesting for years. I'm glad someone, whether it's Treyarch or IW or whomever, finally pulled their head out of their ass and realized how detrimental camping is to the game. Color me cautiously optimistic now. Hopefully the game actually looks close to what was posted in the trailer and the screenshots in that link. One of my biggest gripes about BO was that aesthetically it looked like shit. Everything looked grainy and muddled, at least on the PS3 version.
Yeah some of the changes sound interesting as the level up system has kind of become stale, not that they making HUGE changes though. The score streak thing worries me the most they really didn't go into how they'd balance it out as players stack streaks. I think Socom came up with the easiest anti-camping weapon which I'd love to see implemented in COD. Gas Grenades. It was a secondary grenade that would put out CS gas. If a person or team was camping hard in one spot you'd just throw two of them in and drive them from the spot unless they wanted to chock to death.
My thoughts on all things Black Ops 2: That being said, I love the idea behind the "Pick 10" system. I'm going to shamelessly take credit for that, because I first thought of something very similar in March 2011. Hopefully they bring back the death reactions when you shoot opposing players. That was, hands down, the best part about MW3.
