I never played Socom so I don't know how gas grenades worked, but how different were they from nova gas? I used those quite often in BO and it never seemed to change the amount of campers I'd play against.
Never played BO so I don't know how it stacks up. Basically made a spot inhabitable. If you tossed two or three in one spot it would kill the people hiding there in a couple of seconds.
Finally booted up MW3 after a few month hiatus, after spending an hour downloading all the updates and map packs, what do I get to look forward to? Fucking Terminal, every lobby all night, everyone votes for Terminal, why? I hate that fucking map. After I shook the rust off I was back to form, as much as I said I wouldn't be riding the BO2 train, we all know I will be shilling out another 60 when it comes out.
Yeah, Terminal came out some time last week or weekend. It was actually one of my favorite maps in MW2, but that was because I could absolutely terrorize the middle sections with the AUG. Unfortunately there is no light machine gun in MW3 that can match the awesomeness of the AUG + grip. That gun was an absolute beast. The only thing that threw me off this weekend with Terminal was that people were camping in really strange spots. But whatever, it's a free map pack, so I guess I can't complain.
I think I played my last game of CoD tonight. I played a match of Domination at Underground that ended with me going 5-35. I was murdered by dark corner campers, explosives, lag compensation, and just flat out bad luck. Here's a summary of the ways I died: 1. claymore 2. random semtex stick 3. corner camper 4. predator 5. rocket 6. stunned a claymore, it blew up anyway 7. hit a guy with semtex and 4 bullets, lived because he had a vest 8. killed with exactly 2 bullets from a pp90 (both headshots) 9. jumped out a window and landed directly in front of a corner camper 10. enemy completely blind by a flashbang longshot 3 headshots on me 11. camper with a noob tube pointed at a doorway 12. guy missed his C4 target and hit me instead 13. friendly stepped in front of me so I couldn't see an enemy who then gunned us both down 14. killed from full health by a trophy system that hit me twice because my teammate kept throwing grenades 15. enemies appear out of nowhere. even watching in theater mode I still couldn't see them. and plenty of times where I was dead before I could even pull my gun up even though I was using a sub-machine gun and quickdraw. Even if they fix everything in BO2, there will just be something new. I'm done with CoD. Can't wait for Borderlands 2.
I'll be trying BO2, but I agree, there will always be something that will suck the fun out of the game. When it takes 4 shots center mass to earn a kill in this game regardless if your using a machine pistol or lmg, something is wrong. I switched to lmg's just because I am bored with the game, but there is no benefit to using them, not when you can rape people with the smg all day.
I've been playing MW3 a shit ton lately, don't know why. It just kind of got back in my rotation, and it's always good to have something to do while listening to podcasts. Apparently you can prestige 20 times now? I like the new maps quite a bit, except for Parish. Boardwalk is a good mix for any weapon type. So is Demolition. Gulch is awesome for sniping. I guess Parish is good for SMGs and machine pistols with steady aim on, I just hate running face first into bullets every time I round a corner.
I gotta fire it back up, been awhile for me. Amazon keeps sending me emails for BO2, now I just have to justify buying it, like a dumb ass I will probably order the hardened edition one night after a few beers.
I just jumped back in last night. I don't know if all the shitty people have left the game, if lag is somehow now an issue but it wasn't before, OR if my skills have gotten flushed down the toilet, but fuck. I used to get decent kill streaks and get the All Specialist skills going. Now I can barely get 3-4 without dying. I used to be good with the Type95, and now I'm not. I'm a little sad, but I think I have to double down and get back into this. These new maps are pretty sweet, now with all these maps available, the game is fun to play.
Well, teen pregnancy rates are falling as Black Ops 2 is set to arrive in just over a week. Can treyarch succeed in correcting the horrible connection issues of the last game? Will the audio improvements address previous criticisms? Will score streaks encourage people to play the objectives and make modes other than team deathmatch a realistic alternative for me? Here’s an interview with Vonderhaar that talks about some new features: League Play sounds great for finding exciting matches against evenly skilled players. Hopefully the formula for determining skill includes distance traveled on the map and objectives taken. I’ll be more indifferent about prestiging because of this and the fact that your progress with guns isn't going to reset. Iron sight sniper rifles look like a lot of fun. Something I like is that if a sniper fires a shot, the bullet trail is a white line visible to other players which gives away your position. Multi-team objective games also look like a great feature (in theory) because with smaller teams, you have less people to rely on and can’t get away with focusing on K/D. Hopefully streaks like the RC car, quadrotor, or dogs do not become a nuisance. I think league play does allow you to turn off streaks though. I ended up pre-ordering to get the extra map and double XP, time will tell if I’m a moron or not. Please Treyarch, don’t screw up.
Yeah I pre ordered as well, I definitely like not having pro perks, just going to have to wait and see. First day of game play will show me if I was an idiot for shelling out 60 bucks.
My copy will probably arrive late because I ordered online and post offices will be closed on Monday. On the plus side, I got $20 off and shouldn't have a problem reselling the game at a profit if it sucks. Vonderhaar claims to have a 2% rate of bad spawns, where a bad spawn is defined as taking damage within 3 seconds. He also promises that there is a counter for everything, so we might get a balanced game. Here’s some round based domination on Nuketown. The Hellstorm missile looks viscious on small maps. What’s nice is that each kill with this streak and the Hunter drone only rewards you with 25 points. It’ll be hard for people to use one streak to help them get to another.
Friend of mine bought an early release copy off of Craigslist for 200 bucks, seems crazy to me but to each his own.
Anybody pick up BO2 today? I am waiting on my copy from Amazon, figured one of you guys would have prestiged once by now..... Interested to see how this new points system works out
Not buying it. Sure, I'll make the same mistake twice. But three times? No way. From what I've seen, the classic Treyarch corner-turning bullets have made a return. I wonder how long the honeymoon period will last with this game. What I do like though, is that they're finally punishing ragequitters with a forfait period. 5 minutes, I think. It's a start. Edit: Forgot to say this, for all the people saying Ghost is balanced, remember; this is the beginning of the game, noone has it yet (Lvl55). I give it about a week until even the slowest people get it and then the corner camping (and thus, rage) begins.
Does slowly walking around in a small circle allow players to stay in a corner undetected? I’m hoping that league play, multi-team matches, or party games (the wager modes from BO) will weed out the campers and kids who want to manipulate their stats. From the videos I’ve seen on youtube, a lot of people are ditching their secondary to stack attachments or perks. If this persists, UAV’s could be very effective as few people will have launchers. My copy should arrive tomorrow or on Thursday.
I'm liking it so far, but like Pato said, wait until everyone has everything unlocked...that's the real test for how much lame shit exists. That said, campers haven't been a huge issue thus far. I think people are just trying to learn the maps. I've been pretty hit and miss at this point for that reason, but it's still enjoyable. If anyone wants to play, I'm on ps3...
