I think I’ve been wasting a slot by using both. The handle appears to be a better deal, so I’ll switch things up. I like the options Pick 10 provides and need to keep experimenting to find what’s best for me.
I still love running around with the Remington with a long barrel and a laser sight. It's flat out fucking NASTY in close quarters if you are on a good connection. You mentioned the SMR. I haven't had a lot of seat time with that gun yet, but that will change after watching Sandy Ravage's newest video. Apparently if you grind it out to level ten you unlock the Select Fire attachment, which turns the SMR into a 3 shot nightmare. Said video:
Been using the SMR a lot, but haven't had time to play in the last week, definitely gonna hit level 10 and check out the select fire. Should get a TiB party going one night.
SMR with Red Dot, Quickdraw and Select Fire = A lot of hate messages Took me 30 minutes to get it unlocked but that is because I had been playing with it for awhile, it'll be even better once I get the silencer unlocked. Worth the time to check it out.
In BO2, there are now 2 forms of Prestige. First is level Prestige, which is what we're used to. It resets our player level and provides us with a token. What it does NOT do is reset our weapon levels, which includes camo and secondary attachments, if applicable. So, weapon prestiging resets everything about your weapon, but rewards you with the ability to put your clan tag on your gun, like in BO. I have to say though, I'm not a huge fan of this game. Whether it was at home or my campus house, the lag/buffer bloat is horrendous. I constantly lose heads up gun fights even if I have the jump on the person. I've even lost fights were I've had the advantage of cover. The lower level killstreaks pervade the air, like UAV. The new stinger was easily the first weapon I was able to level to its max. Whatever the reason, the game is frustrating and rewards shotguns and snipers far too much, especially the silenced snipers.
Interesting youtube video about Dexterity: Looks like aside from the being able to climb quicker, dexterity only really affects how quickly you exit the run animation, and the quickdraw handle affects how quickly you ADS, so they can be combined. However, according to that video it looks like Dexterity would only really be useful on an LMG class, especially when you could be using the tactical mask or engineering perks instead.
Now that I have long barrel and laser sight on the Remington, it is quite a bit of fun. Going into a room where the hard point is (on Raid is where I really cleaned up) and dropping 3-4 enemies in quick succession and then capping the point is just fucking great.
PeruvianSoup, if you haven’t already I’d suggest you change your search settings to “best”. I think you have to press square on the ‘Find Match’ screen. It doesn’t eliminate the problem completely, but It helps reduce the chances of you getting placed into a laggy game. The frequency of UAV’s is a blessing and a curse. The points from shooting UAV’s down has given me the extra push needed to earn my own streaks, but I’ve also been killed many times while starring into the sky looking around for them. I still think UAV’s are the best streak in the game when you look at the cost to benefit ratio. I always run it. The difficulty I find is that it is harder to stay off the radar in this game. Silencers are deeper into the progression and if you do get them, the reduction in damage is too detrimental for some guns. Adding a silencer to the MTAR actually made the gun harder to use for me and I won’t consider silencers anymore unless the gun can dish out high damage. Moving things like quickdraw from perks to attachments also makes gun customization choices a difficult trade-off. In past games I always liked red dots and/or silencers, but now I have to consider the adjustable stock, quickdraw handle, long barrel, etc. The game is making me critical of how I play and forcing me to make changes. Some of my frustration is absolutely due to lag, but the rest is from the loss of crutches that I took for granted. I've had a lot of deaths due to the absence of X attachment. Fernanthonies that video just opened up the whole LMG class as an option for me, thanks. Flat Rate, I’ll be free on Sunday if you’re up to it. My PSN is its_not_me_its_u Never tried the SMR with select fire, but I’m hesitant to use up an attachment when I have a decent trigger finger. I'm playing around with the PDW at the moment. Each clip has 50 bullets, no need for extended mags.
This is one of the things I like most about these games, and why I buy CoD year after year. This is the first time that I am pretty much the only one out of my friends that has bought CoD, the only two that I would have expected to buy it have stuck with Halo 4. I play CoD because of the depth of the load out system. I like to be able to go through and play with each gun, seeing how each one fits with my play style, and then try to set up my load outs balancing this perk vs that one, which tactical do I want to take based on how I'll play this class, etc. And this game has only made that worse with the pick 10 system, giving me the chance to completely forsake a green perk in place of an extra tactical or three attachments on my main weapon, for instance. I like the variety. I tried playing Halo 4, and at its core it may be a better shooter than BlOps 2, but it's the customization of load outs that keeps me coming back.
I heard about that fix, but I still encounter the same problems. It doesn't seem to do much for me even going between 2 different locations.
Also, it apparently makes a big difference having an open NAT as opposed to a moderate NAT. I changed my router settings so that mine is now open, and I feel like it's made a positive difference.
Yeah, my NAT is generally open at my house, but there seem to be weird inconsistencies. Do you guys never notice that it takes seemingly forever to kill someone but the replay shows you dying in a blink of an eye, especially around corners?
That's my biggest complaint with the game so far, magic bullets that follow you around corners, gonna have to try the NAT settings and see if it helps.
So I've been very frustrated lately. I started off with my ratio at about 1.6 then randomly plummeted to a 1.2. I had several days where I could barely break even. I don't go crazy trying to maintain a ratio but it was really frustrating not being able to do well. I fucked around with different perks, weapons, and attachments, but aside from some minor improvements, nothing was working...until today. My new favourite class: Remington Shotgun Laser Long Barrel Perk 1a - Blind Eye Perk 1b - Ghost Perk 2 - Cold Blooded Perk 3a - Engineer Perk 3b - Tactical Mask Wildcards are for extra 1/3 perks. It's been a rapefest since I switched. Some maps I still need to switch to a longer range gun (for that I use Sandy Ravages SMR loadout) but on maps like Yemen I've been unstoppable. If you're a run and gunner that almost explodes when you get ruined by a mine or something, give it a try. I've always been decent at One in the Chamber, so I guess it makes sense that I'd like something like this.
Anyone else notice the combat training now has only 6 players for Objective - though there are 12 in the actual game, which makes me wonder if they are AI's. Started as soon as I downloaded the new patch last night. Anyone know anything about this?
That sounds pretty close to my favorite class. And I started out at around a 1.4 kdr and have dropped down to about 1.04. I do the Remmington with a long barrel and laser, but I tend to run Gost/flack jacker, scavenger, and tac mask. Flack Jacket and Tac Mask because I play mostly objective type games and those are life savers, and I love that I can constantly refil my lethal/tactical equipment with scavenger. I'm one 5-kill streak away from gold camo on the remmington.
I quit matches and look for a new lobby if that happens. The game has been hit or miss, some days it runs smooth, other days I have lag. Moving to hardcore has also helped because even if a guy has a better connection, the absence of the HUD and low health helps level things by forcing him to play carefully. The new patch also lets you respawn immediately. UAV’s now cost 425, so they should be less prevalent. Yeah, half of every combat training lobby is filled with bots, which is why you only earn 50% XP. I’m still grinding out attachments and unlocking perks again to develop an effective LMG class. The first LMG is all I have and the range is great, but the low damage is getting me killed. I’ll try some of the class ideas you guys have before I upgrade to a high damage LMG. Started using the Engineer perk recently and it's a decent substitute until I get Flak Jacket. Still don't like most of the green perks though.
I'm actually a huge fan of Engineer over Flak Jacket for a few reasons. First, it lets you avoid the damage completely (as long as you're actually paying attention) rather than be near death for running through a claymore/bouncing betty. While you are more likely to die from grenades, I find I'm a bit more willing to accept the occasional prayer 'nade death in exchange for knowing I can avoid booby trapped crates, guardians, and sentry guns. Part of the reason I like this too is because I run a shotgun class. I need to get close, so if I'm running through a mine to get to someone, I want to make sure I can actually get to them without taking damage so I can kill them before they can even turn to me or get some distance. Instead of just eating the unexpected damage, I can just time a sprint in order to beat the damage, which enables me to get to the person and kill them while remaining unharmed. Assuming you run care package (which I think that anyone who can't consistently be nailing stealth choppers or better should), being able to re-roll the package is huge. Sometimes you wind up just rolling a counter-UAV to a UAV, but occasionally you just get shit-lucky and hit a VTOL or something. Yesterday I actually rerolled an enemy UAV CP into a swarm.
I can't imagine a single reason not to use the AN-94. I spent my first perma-unlock token on it and have been consistently demolishing people in kill confirmed. I'm no pro because MW2 was the last CoD game I kept for more than about a month, but I've managed to pull off a few excellent 20+ kill, <5 death games with it. The first game I ever used it, iron sights only, I went 40-10. I run some combination of quickdraw, grip, and suppressor on it and it absolutely dominates. The firing rate boost on the first 2 shots makes it competitive with SMGs up close, and also eliminates the need to use select fire on it (although select fire on it is super awesome too - the 2-shot bursts come out ridiculously fast) lets it hit hard and accurately if you feather the trigger a bit at range. I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't tried it yet, or who wasted their first perm token on something silly.
If you guys are like me, you're not good at COD and are tired of not getting your streaks. Just play combat training. Your headshots don't count, and your total xp is halved, but its so much fun actually being able to get your higher kill(score) streaks. Basically each team is half bots and half real players and it's so much less frustrating. Try and it and tell me it's not fun going 60-10. I dare you. Arsenal ETID for those interested.
