Fired it back up this weekend to be welcomed by lag and uber camping. Switched to hardcore and loved every second, no camping and the game plays how it should be, no more emptying whole mags into someone and then have them spin around and shoot you in the foot.

Re: Re: CoD Addicts Thread Another 60 down the drain, not even gonna pretend that I won't be buying it.
New map pack and Zombies game (featuring Ray Liotta and Mr. Blonde) this Thursday: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.gamezone.com/reviews/2013/04/20/review-black-ops-2-uprising-turns-the-tables-upside-down-on-the-call-of-duty-formula" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.gamezone.com/reviews/2013/04 ... ty-formula</a>
TIME TO SHAKE THE DUST OFF THIS THREAD! Played a few matches last night of deathmatch. They went BALLS DEEP with customization which might not be necessary. You will eventually unlock 10 avatar/soldier, and each avatar can have 6 loadouts. You can customize gender as well. Its odd, but it looks like the first avatar/soldier is female. Looks like every gun can have two attachments without any additional perks. There also seem to be 4 perks. The Assault/Support/Specialist have carried over in their general greatness. They added in a weapons class that is the middle ground between AS and SR, basically the powerful single shot rifles. Also, no more UAV, its now a mini satellite you put on the ground. So no more getting killed looking up in the air for a tiny thing that might get obscured by the map. Also the biggest thing I thought was really fucking interesting was the way the "soldiers" talk in multiplayer. This has to be based on the fact voice comms gets used more for shit talk than team work, the "AI" of the other players shout out things like "Enemy over there by the barrel!" "Enemy over by the truck!" So even if you don't see them on the map, if a teammate sees them, the "AI" will call it out. The descriptions are general, but it is better than the silence or the "Over there by the! Oh fuck, they killed me."
Ok, I think there are a lot of good COD players. I just picked up Ghosts, and my issue with the game so far is that I suck. I've never been particularly good at COD. I'm willing to put time in, but do any of the more experienced guys have some tips for me to improve? I feel like the game is a joke that everyone knows the punchline for except for me. In other words, help an old man suck a little less.
Well there are operational issues then mindset issues. The first question is do you feel you are turning fast enough? You might need to change sensitivity. Sometimes you just need to figure out your play-style and how to adapt it to open maps vs closed off maps. The other thing is how often are you crouching? Are you sprinting into wide open spaces? Are you checking corners when you enter into rooms? Do you start firing first then aim down sight? (This has definitely improved my play.) Are you moving with the flow of the team and spawn points (aka not camping on non-domination maps)?
Learn the maps. Learn choke points, camping spots, and usually when the game first starts, there's a meeting point where both teams converge where the majority of the firefights happen. Sensitivity and customization are also critical, but if you can navigate a map while covering your six, you're better than most.
The key to bringing my KDR up was all about adjusting sensitivity. I do much better when working on twitch reflexes.
If you find your enemies firing at you before they even come around the corner, or their bullets follow you around corners/come out of their barrels at 90 degrees, it's your internet connection. Best advice I can give is to not get discouraged. You're still going to run into individuals and clans that camp, and cunt nuggets that cheat and/or boost. Just remember that even the best players have days where they just can't suck enough.
I cosign all of these. I have in the past found that my biggest weakness was run and gunning and just repeatedly running into the meat grinder. I'd also suggest playing other game types besides Team Death Match. When you have to work towards goals besides simply killing the other team you pick up skills that help when you do play TDM.
Have they increased the choices for the game modes under hardcore for Ghosts? That's pretty much all I play (drives me nuts in core to get the drop on someone and light them up, just to have them turn and kill you first because they have a more powerful weapon), and the four choices in BLOPS2 are getting old.
best advise I have for you, VI, is: if you don't have super-fast internet, like cable or HSDPA (or some other connection that gives you better than 4 mb/s), don't bother with CoD, or any other online multiplayer game. This should be a header for every single gaming thread. The frustration of a slow internet connection makes it not worth bothering with online games, based on my experience.
Also, if you can get one of those adapters that hard wires your wireless connection into the electrical outlet, that should greatly increase your speed.
Don't think about this too much at all. With the new lean-out/peak feature, this is going to feel like more than it is. Also, don't play Team Deathmatch at first. Play Domination to start off with since spawn points are more predictable and you'll feel better. Next after that will be kill confirmed, just don't try to go after too many tags.
The advice has been helpful. I've been playing Squads, Kill Confirmed against the computer. First I set it on 'recruit' until I was top scorer. Then changed it to 'regular' where I am now, and I am usually in the top two scorers. I've also been running, crouching, and sweeping a lot more. I've learned one map: Prison Break, and in the process of learning a second. I realize playing against the computer doesn't translate into being good against people, just trying to get my skills better. Online, what maps seem to be the most common? I'd like to learn those first while I'm playing against the computer. Thanks for all the advice, guys. As to internet lag, I don't know yet, as I haven't played online, just squads local.
I've finally gotten some alone time with multiplayer and so far it's been good. I do feel like I haven't figured out the strengths of each perk and weapon because I'm getting my ass handed to me more often than not. Anybody on 360 that wants to get some games in just hit me up, Gamertag is LibertyBuddy.
I only played a little bit this week (just rented, didn't buy), but the Core game on MP is a lot less infuriating in the damage dept - in other words I'll probably be yelling, "How many fucking bullets does it take to kill someone?!" a lot less.
The maps seem like a steaming pile of shit and the GFX are poorly optimized for PC. Worst CoD I've played out of MW1, MW2, BO, and BO2.
