I agree completely. I'd add changing weapons instead of reloading too. Don't be goaded by anyone crying about campers. The best games I've had are the ones I take slow, crouching and trying to sneak up on people. I've been trying to use the sniper rifle more to get myself to slow down. I'm still horrible at it though.
If you want to play run and gun I'd suggest using lightweight pro. You can pull up your sights incredibly fast after sprinting. Otherwise try sleight of hand pro if you don't want to loose stopping power.
You have come to the right place, children. -First up, know where the viable hiding spots are. That hidden office in Quarry, behind the shack on estate, anywhere you got picked off from that made you go 'Hm. Didn't think of that.'. The quickest way to find out where these are is either play a lot, or play Search & Destroy. -Also if you hate getting mowed down when running past a corner, have a shotgun / AR on and jump when you're mid-corner. It takes a while to get that movement down but you'll surprise anyone who might be lurking there. -Always keep in mind what angles you might be visible from. If you're on the high ground on Quarry with all the barrels, you can still get owned by a prone sniper in the big warehouse. -A BIG factor in survivability is playing with a UAV as one of your killstreaks. This changes the game entirely because then there are no surprises. But a habit I've picked up is to press the START button and check the map for 6 (or 9, whatever) blips. If you're counting 4 or 5, still be on your guard, this is when Cold-Blooded assholes go prone and expect people to rush. -I've said this before, don't rush with a sniper class, don't camp with a marathon class, etc. That's about it. Hope this helped. Storm can suck my dick.
I've had pretty good success on Storm using my run and gun class. I never venture into the middle of the map and basically stick to the outside. It's fairly easy to flank teams this way. Most are either in that corner two story building or through the corridors on top of the stairs. Trying to finish the "call in 1000 UAV or Counter-UAV task" at the moment. Finally was able to get a game winning killcam with a throwing knife the other day, although still yet to do it with sticking a semtex to a victim.
Thanks for the advice. -I've definitely gotten better at watching my back. I've racked up a ton of no kills from the back. -Definitely need to learn jumping more and finding good spots prone. -I've been avoiding most claymore deaths, because I've been using them and it is the best way to learn how it works. -I'm definitely not afraid of camping, fuck it, if people want to come get me, they know where to find me. I also learned how to camp that 2nd floor on that two story in Crash by the back alley. The one with the turning stairway on one side, and ladder. Claymores + Scavenger and 2 people can devastate from up there.
Now that you mention it, here's something I went over a bit too quickly. You guys should try to think outside the box and try to hit people from where they least expect it. For example, the huge building in Crash where people always camp in the center of the map? If you've got a retard with akimbo Rangers on the first floor camping the stairs, you can use the broken window crack behind him to take care of business. Also, this: Couldn't find a MW2 version that didn't suck. They'll never see it coming.
We're also going to need an XBL rep to organize things. Diablo I'm guessing you're busy but are you able to do it or should someone else do it this time?
Saturday should be fine for me, although I probably will only play for a couple hours, but i'll head up the XBL campaign. Note, I'm too cheap and don't play enough now to justify buying the new map packs...so yeah.
I haven't played in over a month due to some fucked up vertigo and nausea I've been getting from some medication. Until I get it under control, me and FPSs are not friends. So, I'm out.
I'll try to be there, but I've got a bunch of shit to do. Not sure if I can make it or not. Sunday's a better day to do a whole lot of nothing. For me anyway. I'll be on Saturday night for sure.
I saw Diablo mention it so I'm wondering, what happens if some people have 1 or both map packs, while others don't? Is it the lowest common denominator deal, or just can't play at all? I'm a cheap ass so neither map pack for me. Thinking about getting the 2nd one though. Maybe. But I'm outta town this weekend, so I won't be able to play.
You all should hate me for this but: I'm only a couple hundred kills away from 2,500 with RPG. Still only 500ish for the multikills though,
So today I was dicking around in FFA trying to get some challenges done for Finishing Moves when I decided to just stack care packages with hardline. Ended up with 6+ care packages raining from the sky for my last kill, and got both the challenges. FUCK YES. I threw my flashbangs in there too so the killcam wasn't too impressive but I don't care. God I thought that would take forever. Think I'll go for Counter-MVP now.
Woohoo! I was able to get MW2 working with my newer internet connection. No hope for joining overseas-based matches, but at least I can go Akimbo with the MP5K again...
