    Cod points:
You have earned the ability to use a new gun, for instance the M-14 (third assault rifle unlocked I believe?) You decide to spend 2000 of your hard earned cod points on your exciting new unlock. It blows cock. You are now out 2000 points. Lets say you bought a shitty perk and a shitty grenade at the same time. You're out more points. Because of your lack of good stuff you are slow to earn more points. I realize its kind of a gamble situation which some people may like but I feel like COD points "make the rich richer" if you will. People like Maltob and Pato would have an abundance while others may struggle just to buy things everyone else is using to rape them.

So your complaint then is that shit isn't just being handed to you so you can keep up with more skilled players? Sounds like communism.

You had to earn your shit in MW2 as well, is was just a much more lengthy process, and took longer to unlock certain shit. You also seem to be forgetting that the good shit you just used to earn all that CP? It didn't go anywhere. You're not required to use the stuff you just bought.

Personally? I like it. I think it's got potential. Once I get the maps down, once I adjust the sensitivity to where I'm comfortable with it, and once they iron out the kinks, this should stand about even with MW2.

My post came off as too bitchy. Mostly I just don't like change. Or Treyarch.

Is the hipfire as overpowered as it was in WaW? It was ridiculous that you didn't need to aim down the sights in that game. I'm hoping they learned from their mistakes on that one.

Questions like these make me wish there was a demo, or I had friends who played Call of Duty so I could try it at their house. Like I said, I'm very apprehensive about spending so much money on a product made by a company with a mediocre track record.

I am still on the fence. The campaign seems to have serious potential, but I bought it for the online gaming aspect. And so far I have been disappointed.

Hopefully it is just a bug in the match making code, but it seems that a lot of the lobbies I have joined have experienced brutal lag. Like bad to the point where half the lobby is walking out mid-game on a consistent basis. I don't like the fact that it takes so many bullets to kill an enemy, and I don't like that the shotguns are setup as primary weapons instead of secondaries. I am already dead tired of RC cars exploding every ten seconds, and I feel like the maps aren't as engaging as they could be. But then again, I was on the fence about MW2 as well and it turned out to be addicting as crack to me as a first-time COD player.

I am willing to give it some time, especially since I dropped damn near $70 on the fucking game, but when Dmix3 (Vorhees) and I were playing earlier tonight, I felt deflated and disappointed. Hopefully it grows on me.

I just finished the campaign. Loved it. Really fucked me over, because I thought I could put the controller down for a night and study, butnow I'm going to fail a test because I now know how BLack ops ended, and forgot all the Chinese grammer I was studying.

I think overall, the game outside of multiplayer is great. The campaign has definite replay value, and Zombies is going to be crazy. Has anyone else seen the third mode of zombies?

Haven't played multiplayer yet, but to those complaining about CoD points... In MW2, when a player dies, why do hundreds of dollar bills explode from the body? I thought I heard somewhere that IW wanted to do something like CoD points, but pulled it last minute....

I was a hardcore MW player, and skipped WaW and MW2. I think this multiplayer is going to suite me well.

So now that we have this little bump in the road out of the way... Let's get back to things that actually matter.

In about a week I went from Blue Tiger to Fall with the FAL. This fucking gun just goes where you want it to. Aim for headshots, because you will get them.

On a 43 winstreak at the moment and it doesn't show signs of stopping, holy shit. Going for 100 wins.

    Also, because it's worth repeating.

The money is to signify the payback achievement that gives you extra points for your kill if you immediately kill the person who just killed you.

After putting in conservatively an 8 hour day on Black Ops my thoughts basically boil down this.

Black Ops is fun. More fun to me than MW2. Here's why:

Less cheapness - I understand that noob tubes are a part of the game, but it's honestly nice to play a map where the entire team isn't spamming them. I think removing the ability to use Scavenger to reload them was a wise decision, even if they took away my second Claymore.

Contracts - I think these are an awesome addition to the game. They vary in level of difficulty and the reward scales as well to match it. These are probably going to end up like dailies in WoW.

Split Screen MP - Where's the fun in having to pass the controller if you have friends over? The Guest account has to earn their own CP so they can't mooch off yours, however they can use anything you've unlocked so they aren't totally helpless. Plus it's just more fun having a friend watch your back that's in the room with you.

Less Grind/Call of Duty Points - I love MW2, don't get me wrong, but having to grind the same challenges over and over and over again really detracts from the fun. I like how if I want a silencer for my gun, I don't have to kill 75 people to get it, I just buy the shit and equip it. Makes it more strategic, deciding what I really want to spend my points on.

Gambling - I mean c'mon, who doesn't like gambling. One in the Chamber is the only game mode I tried last night, but I had a fucking blast doing it even though I only placed in the money once.

I think the RC car is pretty fucking hilarious personally, it is a complete bitch to drive sometimes, but running it right up some dude's ass and blowing it makes my laugh my ass off. Same with crispy frying some poor schmuck with the Flamethrower attachment.

Plus hearing Ice Cube on certain maps just makes me giggle inside.

    That's pre-patch. This is post-patch.

Also, you can't possibly say that QS'ing is alive when the person showing it is Optic_Predator. The guy is just insanely good, can't compare him to your average player.

Black Ops will just be an assault rifle / SMG zergfest. You just know it's a matter of time before everyone starts using the laserbeam full-auto FAMAS.

wow. That's a terrible way to fix it. I love my 50 cal in MW2, but I don't use it for qs short range kills, that's what my spas is for. I do use the fact that the bullet shoots in the center of my crosshairs though. I think a better fix would be to remove aim assist for sniper classes.

oh well, doesn't affect me, don't plan on getting BO.

I like COD points. Sure it takes away from the feeling that you earned something when you unlock a weapon at level 40+ like in MW2, but I like the fact that I can unlock 1-2 attachments per game I play. It's really nice too that you don't have to do a ton with a specific gun if you want to unlock all of its attachments.

Speaking of attachments, can someone tell me what the difference between the red dot and reflex sight are? They look exactly the same, except the reflex sight is a little more bulky.

I just checked my receipt and I guess I forgot that I threw a couple 20oz diet cokes on the bill too. It came to like $64.xx after tax. Regardless, next time I am buying COD through Amazon.

So it appears Sandy Ravage has figured the game out already...

Black Ops frame rate doesn't appear nearly as smooth as Infinite Ward's. Textures look poor compared to MW2.

By any other standard this would be an above average game, but this is the follow-up to the top-selling MW2. It's decent, but disappointing by comparison.

The zombie games are fun, but again, the levels aren't refined enough. I'd rather have less levels that look better.

    Now I wish I hadn't traded in MW2.

I've got to agree with all the points that Dmix just made. I played for about 5 hours last night and had a blast (granted, I've been pretty much done with MW2 for several months now).

I really like the COD Points, I think it is a great addition. I absolutely hated having to grind through kills with iron sights on a new gun just so I could get the better attachments, now as soon as I get a new gun I can just buy the attachments that I know I'll use. The only thing I don't like about buying stuff in this one is the player cards. I liked that in MW2 they were basically badges that showed others that you had completed some milestone or feat. I imagine you can come up with some cool stuff with the new style of player cards, I just miss the old way of unlocking them.

The wager matches are probably my favorite addition, too bad you don't get any xp from playing them. The game types are extremely fun and offer something different than the standard fare. I didn't prestige in MW2 because I didn't see the point of grinding through the same levels and guns again. Wager matches seem like they will be something fun to do once you've unlocked everything.

Is the points system really that good? I mean, did it really take everyone that long to get the attachments? The only one what was brutal was the FMJ/X-Mags, yes that was terrible.

It's just better because you don't have to deal with bullshit, I mean sure it doesn't take long to get certain attachments, but if I want a silencer on my gun (which I do), then why should I have to kill 75 people to get it? Here I just pick it from a menu, equip it and go.

I have to agree with Maltob on this one. Only extended mags was kind of a pain in the ass to unlock. But how many times do you see people actively use x-mags? The only example I can think of is AK-47 with Marathon.

The rest, like Holo sight or Thermal, take a game or two to unlock. I feel like the grind was necessary for people to get to know the guns a bit. Having everything handed to you on a plate might get boring after a while.

I have to play this thing for myself and figure it all out.
