I'm a big fan of the m14 on some of the bigger maps. I rape in Jungle with it. Okay, maybe not rape, but at least a drunken grope.
I bought B.O yesterday. Its fun, like online play should be as well as being competitive. It is still a little bit of a learning curve at the moment. I used to be one of the better players in Australasia but being out of the FPS arena for a while I'm lacking a little. I really like the new additions of perks, contracts and customisable kill streaks which all add new dimensions to the game. I'm still undecided on SOME aspects of the game but will make my mind up about them in the coming weeks. Has anyone gone prestige yet? How does it differ from the previous iterations of COD? Add me if you're in the South Pacific, Technique-. We will have fun party times.
I try to use the M14 but just end up getting really pissed off. The fucking thing takes, on average, 3 shots to kill somebody. Really? You have to shoot someone 3 times with an M14 to kill them? It shouldn't take more than two bullets from that gun to get a kill. I love shooting people 3-4 times and having them live simply by taking their time getting to cover. Not to mention, you need a foregrip on it just to make it accurate enough to spam 3-4 shots into someone to get a kill. I really am beyond angry at how many bullets it takes to kill people in this game. I had a game earlier where I shot a guy 4 times with the AUG, switched to my sidearm, shot him 2 more times, and he turned around and knifed me. The maps are all terrible, but I could deal with that if it didn't take 80 bullets to kill someone. Good luck trying to pop off more than 1 person at a time when you aren't sneaking up on them. I haven't even seen anyone earn a killstreak higher than 7 and I'm a fairly high level right now. And another thing! What the fuck is wrong with the knife? I can recall several instances where I lunged and stab people and it doesn't do anything, only to have him knife me. One time, me and an enemy knifed each other at the same time and all we did was collide into each other and shrug. Am I the only one that is getting sick of these issues? I know I can just play Hardcore to solve the bullet damage problem, but I don't enjoy 15 second respawns.
Sounds like lagalagalag. Try switching your matchmaking preferences to locale/locale first, helped me a bunch. So far BOPs is good fun, although does anybody know the level/prestige cap? I thought it was 55/15, not sure though. All the maps are pretty good, I've been playing mostly Domination. Some of them are just ungodly small though, Nuketown coming to mind. I got a Gunship on Nuketown, and the crosshairs literally were never over the map. They were always facing out, away from the red blips on the ground, and I got 0 kills with it, which was a bit of a disappointment. The graphics definitely are not as good as MW2, but it makes up for it in some other areas. I feel like (hope) no 2-3 guns will emerge as the absolute best, use'em or you suck. New killstreaks are fun, and the wager match game types are enjoyable. I need to level higher and unlock all the shweet things, only 24 atm. 'Splattergoit' on PSN if anyone wants to play.
I don't know if it is lag, though. I know just by unloading at a guy I'm bound to miss a ton of shots, but I'm going by the little crosshair that appears when your bullet hits an enemy. That thing along with the thud appears like 3-5 times and the guy will still be alive and well. Even when it lagged in MW2, that never happened. It is just frustrating to see how easily Treyarch can fuck up a potentially good game. That developer needs to stop making fucking games.
I warned everybody loud and clear the quality of the game just wasn't going to be there. Treyarch is the B Squad, make no qualms about it no matter how hard they try to copy the former Infinity Ward. I bought the game because peer pressure. It takes as much time to kill someone as it did without stopping power in MW2, since there is no stopping power. What bothers me is the feel of the game. I can't describe it other than to say the multiplayer gameplay doesn't feel as official. I actually think the visual feed back you get from killing someone gun or knife wise is lacking. There is less of the "yep, you capped that mutherfucker" visual response. Thor, it sounds like you must be lagging. We couldn't keep people together, but once the game was going it was solid. A demo would have helped because I definitely would have put the game off a few weeks. Probably would give the game a B- if I wasn't playing with the TiB crew and another one of my friends. It gets a tentative B++ right now. With a gun to my head I'd stick to MW2.
Okay well I just actually had fun. Maybe it is lag that is screwing me over because I was popping people pretty easily in this game. Dominiation on WND, 23-0. I drop mortars in a group of red dots and hit nothing. I place my Cobra on a group of red dots and it kills nothing. Just me and my Galil. About halfway through I ran out of ammo and picked up some randoms M14 and proceeded to cap 4 people in a row piling out of some building while I was in a second story window. Then everyone left, with 7 points to our victory. Why can't that happen for me every game?
I spoke too soon. I was getting 2 shot kills every time, but now I can't drop anyone with the damn thing. I put the grip on and it didn't get better. Maybe I'm just missing. Fucking dot is on the guy, but he won't go down and then kill cam has him just spraying in my general direction and wiping me out. Pretty frustrating. I feel like there has been a lot more of shoot the guy, die, watch the killcam and it doesn't even show my gun going off, but who knows. Grenades in this game also fucking blow. They take so fucking long to go off that people can just run away. You can cook them a bit, but of course if you do that the other person is sure as shit is going to pop out and light you up before you can get your gun back up. I also agree that the maps fucking blow. They are either too big or too fucking small (Nuketown). I'm encountering a whole lot of the run all the way across the map to find everyone dead, turn around, repeat. And speaking of Nuketown I got raped on that map 3 games in a row because people kept voting for it. Who the hell decides to go back to the place where you just got your ass kicked? I like the wage matches. Sticks and stones and sharpshooter are a nice change of pace. However it is pointless to have the ante up buy in be 10 points and then have the weekend gambler at 1,000. 100 point buy ins would have been a whole lot more fun. Something to lose and gain, but not going to take a fifth of what you have or more if you shit the bed and not completely fucking pointless the way it is now.
To add what you guys were saying: I'm surprised how weak the M16 is. You could hit two solid bursts right in someones torso and they seem to stay alive. Then, you look at the killcam and they just spray and pray'd your ass. Gets a little frustrating. That little RC car is fun to piss people off with. My question: are the high end killstreaks even worth it anymore. Now that you cant add to your killstreaks with your killstreak kills (e.g. in MW2 predator missle at 5 kills would get you to Harrier at 7 kills almost all the time), it just doesn't seem like the average gamer like myself will get to something like dogs very easily.
Welcome to my world. Last night was the first time since I bought the game that I actually got 4 bars, and it still was lagging/skipping frames. Good news: Treyarch is releasing a patch to fix some of the problems! <a class="postlink" href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=275349" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=275349</a>
To be honest I can't see what the issue is. A game as popular as call of duty is likely to experience difficulties online to start with. It's not exactly unexpected. Whenever online has been lagging for me, I'll just give it up for a while and make more progress on the campaign mode. if I get tired of that I can kill some zombies. And now that I just completed the campaign mode, I can kill some zombies in the White House. From what I have played online so far I've really enjoyed. Like everyone else I've had some troubles knifing people, and I don't find black ops online to be as "smooth" as Modern Warfare 2. But I'd argue that it has exceeded it in other areas that has, at least for me, made it a worthwhile purchase.
Here's an important thing to consider, did they fix the spawn system? We all know how shitty that is sometimes in MW2.
I think the spawning is way worse in Black Ops. I don't how many times I've spawned in the backyard in Nuketown only to be shot in the back by 2 guys before I even know what is going on. Also it's almost like you kill somebody and have to do a 180 because the other team is spawning at the other end of the map almost instantly.
Does no one else have a problem with how shitty this game looks? MP is fun enough I guess, I just got it today so I'm not too far yet, but I can't get over how much worse this game looks than even MW2. Maybe I'm just spoiled but the textures, the character models, the guns all just seem ugly. I was shocked that the graphics look how they do. Kill/death animations are really lame too. I got exploded by a grenade only to stand straight up and slowly fall over. And I want my guns and grenades to sound badass, not hollow and wimpy like they do in this game. That said, it's still a fun game. If I'd paid full price instead of trading in games that I never play anymore, I'd probably be pretty upset. But for $18 I guess I'm ok with it
Yeah, but that's Nuketown. It's fucking tiny. Spawning is pretty good overall on the medium/large maps. I've only been spawn killed once, and that was a camper.
God damn it. I was ready to buy and it's like the game keeps feeding me reasons not to. Thanks a lot, Treyarch.
Not yet, although it is a known bug in the smaller maps... <a class="postlink" href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=274851" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=274851</a>
So after some post release play I can say I enjoy the game more now that I'm not playing only against those good enough to have the game before it came out. I think I'll give hardcore modes a shot soon due to the amount of bullets it takes to kill someone. What's everyone's perk loadout looking like? I always used stopping power in MW2 but of course they don't have it now. I've been using: Famas silenced Ghost SOH Tactical mask-haven't bought anything else yet. Ghost helped me out alot as it seems there is constantly a UAV (sorry spy plane) in the air. SOH is because of the seemingly underpowered guns made worse by my silencer.
