More goodness from the awesome trio of TheMoodieSwede, SmallBeans, and The Trout 91. If you're into montages, this is for you.

So everyone has finally come around to Black Ops being a piece of shit eh? That's great. I'm actually looking at my copy of Black Ops now knowing there is a GameStop 4 blocks away. I should probably beat the single player first, but it the story isn't interesting. Maybe it has nothing to do with the story, because apparently MW2s story sucked, but I was too busy hyped up on adrenaline saying "oh shit, oh fuck, oh shit, this is fucking cool" too much to notice.

Nah, the update a few days back has made things much smoother, particularly with the matchmaking. The hit detection on the sniper rifles is much better as well. I'd still take it over MW2's public lobbies, though; the average MW2 player can't be trusted not to use all the bullshit in that game that pissed me off so much, and ultimately made me decide to trade it in. My biggest problem with Black Ops is that it's so strongly connection-based. Gunfights are usually less about skill and more about who has the better ping. I didn't get that lag nonsense in COD4 like I do with MW2 or BO. Mark my words: until they get with the program and put servers in place, I'm not buying another "Call of Duty" game. There's no point in spending money to get shot by some asshole teleporting around the map with his dial-up connection.

And you're contemplating returning your game - or anything, for that matter - to Gamestop, so you still lose. If anything, try Best Buy first. Their trade-in values tend to be considerably higher. Gamestop's business ethics are even shadier than Scott Boras'.

You can probably get a better price for it on Amazon, it's going for $32 on PS3 and 360 or $28.70 for Wii. I'd be surprised to hear Gamestop buying it for more.

I'm going Amazon from here on out. Because one I get KZ3 and beat B.O. storyline which I'm going to work on today, it's got to go. I'm not buying MapPacks and the asshole friend who convinced me to buy it, whored through it, and is already tired of it. Seems like not many people on here give a fuck either so nevermind. What's the process for Amazon? Do I have to pay shipping or something?

If you click the link I have in my post above it brings you to an area where you can search for games to trade in, just find the games you want and there will be an option to add them to your list. Once your list is complete they tell you how much money they'll give you in total and give you a printable UPS packing slip. You just have to have a box to put the games in and then ship them off. They receive the games, make sure everything is kosher and then credit your Amazon account with the money. It's usually about a week and a half process from start to finish but totally worth it for the extra money.

Nope, they cover shipping, even if your game doesn't work or is missing stuff they ship it back to you at their expense.

I don't know, I really like the new maps. Kowloon and Discovery are especially fun.

Also, I'd trade my left nut for a silencer attachment for the G11. That gun is an absolute beast but the attachments for it are retarded. Even though it does no more damage than the M16 the fire rate is so much better that you can get off the 2 shots required to kill someone significantly quicker than you can with the M16. The iron sights took some getting used to since I do like my red dot, but now no gun even begins to compare. I never lose straight gunfights anymore just because I can get the necessary number of shots off faster than any assault rifle. As I mentioned though, no silencer is really shitty especially since ghost is kind of worthless without a silenced weapon.

Well they gotta have...uh...what's the word again...oh right, balance. If it had anything else besides what it has, it'd be overpowered and there'd be no reason to use anything else really.

They're okay. I think they get a boost because so many of the BO maps are pretty bad. It's nice to see a map for Black Ops that doesn't give snipers the middle finger. Berlin Wall pisses me off every time it comes up in Domination, though.

I'm loving Kowloon, it's definitely my favourite map at the moment. I love the layout of it, and think the placement of everything objective-related (Dom points, CTF flags, etc.) is great. I don't really care about the zip-lines, and only used them once in my first game to see what they were like, but picking people off when I can hear the sound of them using it is fantastic.

I'm also extremely happy that Merc TDM was changed for Merc Moshpit. I hate TDM but very rarely play with friends, so after two or three CTF games of getting raped against full parties, I'd usually go to Merc TDM for a few games. Now that it's objective games instead of only TDM, I'll actually have fun doing it.

Overall I'm happy with the update/map pack (definitely notice a difference in matchmaking, as mentioned before), and the new zombies map is fucking awesome. I wish they didn't waste a quarter of Berlin Wall with the auto-turrets, but everything else is good.

Would like to have given you a game but I try and stay away from the PS3 during the week. If you're about on the weekend I'll give you a go.

I will definite be on this weekend. I will be on a lot today too because it's my last day off before work starts.

A couple observations since switching back to MW2:
    1) it's so much smoother, I have not noticed any lag in gameplay. If I die, the killcam is actually what I saw on my screen, not somebody being about a half second ahead of me like in BO.
    2) I haven't run into too many hackers. Someone on here said the ps3 version is almost ruined because of the hackers, but in probably ten games yesterday I only ran into one shitty lobby.
    3) Sound and graphics. This has been said multiple times, but MW2 just looks and sounds so much more real. I think BO has a much more 'video gamey' feel to it.
    4) Finally: I was only killed ONCE in about the ten games I played by second chance/final stand. In BO I probably get killed twice a game.

I didn't have any problems on the weekend except for one game where I could see the cheat menu come up as soon as it started. If you do see anything weird happening it’s best to pull out straight away in case they screw with your stats/weapons.

Essindees compares PC vs. consoles and the pros & cons of Black Ops. He even considers the graphics to be better than MW2. I'm not inclined to agree with him, but I see his point. And can anyone explain to me why console games don't have dedicated servers? It seems like it'd be a prerequisite for these fast-paced shooters by now.

Here's a little something different. COD gameplay from a quadriplegic.

I have never understood this. I assume the decision was partially made due to resources. It's not like Treyarch (and especially Activision) is hurting financially by any means, but decided servers would require not only the hardware required to host over a million separate users (400-500K users on PSN on a given night recently, and I suspect close to double that number on XBL), but also the bandwidth required to host that many sessions. Not cheap. Especially when you can push all of the match making and game hosting on to the end users and place the burden on their shoulders.

Setting up the game to be P2P-based instead of a more traditional server/client model has to be more difficult to integrate though, at least upon first thought. PSN users had to deal with this the first couple of months BO was out with constant host migrations, dropped connections and random network-related bullshit. With dedicated servers, at least everyone is being routed to the same host every time.

Just got a hold of a Xbox Live Gold trial...MW2 is pretty fun so far, though I'm only level 6. Only problems I've run into is a few games that completely lagged out, and those ever-present campers. Going down to legshots from someone who hasn't moved an inch from their position is pretty fucking annoying.

Hupit's been mentioned before on here, but here's Woody himself demonstrating how easy it is to find players of similar mindsets as yourself. Enjoy.

Also, Seananners doing live commentary with a team of dual HS-10s. I wonder how awesome it would be to do something similar with the 1887s in MW2.

Here's a funny video that illustrates some of Call of Duty's biggest design flaws. It's all from MW2, but things like Last Stand and the terrible spawn system are just as bad (if not worse) in Black Ops.
