The editing and effects are terrible, and the music is meh...but the gameplay? Good lord it's amazing.
I gotta say, SR is very entertaining when he's drunk and live streaming. And apparently, impervious to the effects of Maker's Mark.
Yeah, I went back and watched his AC-130 drinking game live stream on Justin.tv yesterday when I was bored at work. The game itself is pretty simple: take a shot every time you get an AC-130. Within an hour or so he had taken a decent amount of shots (somewhere between 6-9 if I recall correctly). I honestly don't understand how the fuck SR does it. When I drink, I get better up to a point and then I go downhill FAST. Same with bowling, darts, pool, and any other game of skill. Even when SR is hammered (some of his old live streams were great in that respect...slurring on the mic, etc.), he STILL whips ass. The guy is a machine. That is the only explanation I can come up with.
Keep in mind this guy is one of the top players when sober. That means that as long as he's sober enough to sit up straight and maintain decent motor control, he can still kick the crap out of any player on this board. It's not that he's impervious to the effects of alcohol; it's more along the lines of picking a random person to fight Bruce Lee after he's had eight shots. The intoxication is not severe enough to sufficiently negate the level of skill shown while sober.
Maltob and I played in the same game, on the same team, and I was top player, with Maltob being second. I'm pretty sure at this point I can retire happily from MW2. But of course I'm not.
So for about five or six games in a row the other day, my team had at least two split-screeners on it that played for the first five minutes, then quit for the rest of the game. Every fucking game. They'd stay in the room and keep respawning, just wouldn't move an inch after the first five minutes. I'd leave the lobby after every game, but the next lobby I'd go into would be the same fucking thing. The final straw was a game with two fucking split-screeners that did this. On a team of six guys, four of them weren't fucking playing, but wouldn't leave the lobby to let other people get in. I finished the game 29-27, the second place guy was something like 15-30, and these four worthless pieces of shit, combined, were 6-162. One guy was 1-58. That resulted in me taking a break from the game for a few days, as I was worried if I played another game with people like that, I'd kill somebody.
So this is marginally related to COD, but Alki David is (or just was) hosting his Billionaire Throwdown challenge, in which major COD Youtube commentators fly down to his mansion in Cali and team up to compete against each other for a cash prize. Sandy Ravage and OnlyUseMeBlade went, and this is the result. Let's just say those two have their priorities straight. Breaking into the host's liquor cabinet and drinking everything in sight trumps playing COD any day of the week:
Got my first double AC-130 game on MW2 yesterday. Gotta love Ground War. It was a Domination game on Afghan, which might be the easiest map to complete such a feat, but whatever. I also jumped into a Domination game on Quarry today, down something like 125-72. Went 24-0 and brought us back to win 200-183.
Sandy Ravage might be the second-best player on COD. This guy doesn't have as much flair (music, Duke Nukem sound bytes, etc), but he's just as methodical and funny. Oh, and his Black Ops K/D is in the ballpark of 9.0. Yeah.
So Sandy Ravage downloads the map pack for MW2 a solid year or two after it comes out, and goes 82-8 rushing like a motherfucker. Granted, he's host, but still... Just watching the video, I didn't even see half of the enemy players until after Sandy already had one or two shots into them. Unreal.
Here's a good interview with Robert Bowling regarding MW3 and the changes being made in the series. A series of quick-fire questions start around the 10:20 mark. <a class="postlink" href="http://tweakers.net/video/3640/modern-warfare-3-interview-robert-bowling.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://tweakers.net/video/3640/modern-w ... wling.html</a> Cliff's Notes: - Fixing the engine - Improving the graphics - COD Elite - K/D whores in objective games - Predictable spawn points - Implementing fan feedback into game design - Return to gun-on-gun vs. air support - PC piracy
I'm trying to be more mindful of what I post on here, as to not waste anyone's time, but I swear...this is goddamned entertaining to watch. It's ridiculous how good xcal is at COD. This one isn't as good, but it's worth it to watch starting at 7:48:
Real late to the party with this one but I have been CRUSHING with the Spas recently. Honestly never put much into secondaries and stuck with machine pistols mostly. Shit these things are stupid.
I finally borrowed a friend's copy of Black Ops so I am VERY late to the party. I did just spend the last 2 days reading the 9 months worth of posts in this thread though. It's ok, but just ok. I seem to have connection issues where half my deaths are marked by me plugging 2 or 3 shots in a guy only to have the killcam show that I didn't even fire. Really wish it was possible for me to play with a direct connection instead of over wireless. A minor gripe that I haven't seen mentioned before... I seriously can't rename my custom class "Assault" because it contains profanity? Seriously? Ok, well then I'll just name it FAMAS. Nope. Still profane. Christ on a bike man. Either way, still working on the ins and outs of the maps. Might put in MW2 just to see how they compare and since most people here seem to have gone back to it. XBL tag is TheMephis.
