That can't be. I've been assured by multiple people on the internet that this is the model the US should have followed. In other news, the leader of Brazil just loves Trump and follows everything he does. It's working out well for them.
I read the same thing. Their antibody tests aren’t showing anything close to the numbers they need for an effective herd immunity.
https://www.theatlantic.com/health/...andemic-states-reopening-inequalities/611866/ "Both possible futures are confounded by three aspects of COVID-19 that make the pandemic hard to grasp, and that are amplified by the patchwork effect. First, the disease progresses slowly. It seems to take an average of four or five days, and a maximum of 14, for an infected person to show symptoms. Those symptoms can take even longer to become severe enough for a hospital stay, and longer still to turn fatal. This means that new infections can take weeks to manifest in regional statistics. May’s declining cases are the result of April’s physical distancing, and the consequences of May’s reopenings won’t be felt until June at the earliest. This long gap between actions and their consequences makes it easy to learn the wrong lessons.' I never thought bug-chasing would be a viable national policy.
r/LeopardsAteMyFace is a great follow for that kinda thing. There needs to be a new sub-category of COVID deaths, "COVID-19/treatable/stupidity"
Medical condition. Is being a self absorbed twat a medical condition now? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86Xxe86RvLY&feature=youtu.be
There's a meme going around conservative circles that if you claim a disability under the ADA and say that this disability prevents you from wearing a mask, not only does the store have to accommodate your "disability" but they cannot ask what that disability is or for any proof that it's real. It's the perfect loophole™. Except stores are basically just responding with corporate stonewalling and no one is yet dumb enough to try to sue them for an ADA violation of a fake disability.
Oh I've seen it, someone went as far to make up a form for it. Problem is, HIPPA doesn't apply in this situation and the ADA says you have to make reasonable accommodations for the disabled. Offering to shop for them does just that. The type of people who buy into this sort of nonsense don't understand that of course. She just wanted to get into the store to "assert her rights." She should go in nude to prove the same thing. How dare they take away her freedoms to do so!
More and more this shit is making me want to build a log cabin in the middle of nowhere and go off grid. And by off grid, I mean "away from people".
If I was young I would be trying to figure out how to emigrate to a sane country, say New Zealand. I never thought I would say something like that.
She does have the right to not wear a mask. But a private business also has the right to refuse entry to their building if she isn't wearing one. People like this don't get that, I guess. Freedom is for everyone.
Mountain men have always had the right idea, it just didn’t become obvious until now. These people are so cringey it’s painful. And some are a big deal too, I mean..., three THOUSAND Instagram followers? Where is his security detail to keep the fans at bay:
one step ahead of ya. My wife is wanting to go to the lake to laugh at all the people getting 'rona on the sandbar over the weekend. I'm perfectly content staying the fuck here. Just took my almost 3 year old out to feed the deer and what was a 12 point buck last year (still in velvet, horns re-growing) decided to start eating out of his hand. These are the friends you need during times like this. A bunch of wild turkey had their babies and they're bringing them into the yard like roaming sentries attacking the ticks and other shitty bugs. I have grocery delivery setup, working on a garden to cut down the produce needs from there, and only trips I absolutely need to make are to a local lowes and total wine which do a good job of keeping the idiots the fuck out. Last time I was at lowes it was like 95 outside and some dude in the garden center decided to take his mask off. Soon as he did, several managers were on him like a duck on a june bug. He was complaining about it being too hot to wear one. They gave him the option of continuing to wear it and shop, or GTFO if it did make him too hot to use common sense.
to follow up on people being dumb about wearing masks, first this went viral: then the lady came back into the store all pissed off her stupidity went viral and confronted the guy, who promptly told her off: reddit link because I can't find it on youtube
Welcome to my world. There's a reason I own property in Bum Fuck, Missouri. It's not quite as remote as I'd like, but I'm old and living on top of a mountain 100 miles from civilization isn't really a viable option any more.
