Hopefully this one won’t take place on a cruise ship like they did with “Speed”.

So not only are they giving each other dutch ovens but they are jerking off too.

Is that why no one will classify them as terrorists?

The fucking desert. I hate the fucking desert.
I work in the dental field. Before anyone even thinks about coming into the office we have to ask some COVID screening questions, which take about 30-45 seconds at the most.

Folks are getting increasingly angry about the questions. Angry, as in pissed the fuck off and literally yelling about the inconvenience and refusing to answer. Usually this encounter takes longer then just answering the questions.

Nothing makes me happier the telling them "Sorry, you can't come in. Have a nice day." Possibly another office will let them in, but I doubt it. Even if another office will let them in, it may be months until they can be seen because of the high demand for dental care right now. To bad, so sad...go buy some whisky and a pair of pliers and think about what a horrible person you are.

We're just trying to keep office staff and patients safe, but at least a couple of people a day pull this shit. I damn near wish COVID on them.

My gym is set to re-open today, and that has been the single largest disruption to my daily life since March, so while the new and ridiculous restrictions are a pain, I'll be glad to get back to my iron.

63 million doses of this...for nothing. Thanks, President Tide Pod.

From inside the bubble, we're still transitioning everything over to HHS. The transition is going slow, having faced several delays. The original target was Memorial Day, now it's next week. Over the past few weeks, the White House task force has simply receded, basically losing interest after punting to the locals. It feels like the reality of this is setting in with the WH team, as they aren't as quick to jump on miraculous solutions. Their reporting has gotten briefer, less purposeful and more "thanks for the effort everyone". Our biggest challenge is still early stage response and evacuation. We are in a very real pickle with people not willing to follow precautions, such as evacuees not having a mask to wear, or refusing to wear one in shelters, etc.

20+ states are trending in the wrong direction, and the President is saying wearing a mask is a political statement against him. I have no words.
It's genuinely unfortunate the virus doesn't discriminate between the people trying to protect themselves and those that somehow think a virus is a liberal hoax. I get machismo, I really do. I don't get how a mask makes you a pussy/bitch/what the fuck ever. It blows my mind how a virus is somehow a political issue, especially ones that spreads this easily.

One of my staff tested positive. At this point, I only have one person going to the office once per week, and I am pulling her.

Can we drop the 'hoax' bullshit already? Who the fuck thinks this? 5 rednecks in deep, deep Mississippi... ?

Trump said this like a couple times 3 months ago in reference to preparedness. This 'hoax movement' isn't a thing. Fucking Christ, people.

It's bad enough when you guys only want to go on about fringe retards. Somehow it's moved onto fringe-fringe-fringe retards.

the hoax mindset is absolutely a thing down here. If you were to meet a random person, I'd say it's 50/50 whether they think it's a hoax or not. Half the people think it's all made up or some political statement or whatever, and the other half are completely terrified of that half and for good reason.

In Canada too, there are still swarms of Karens claiming simultaneously that it's a hoax, and that it's caused by 5G. Not sure how that works. Oh and any store around here that no longer accepts cash lost their business, according the Facebook posts I've seen. Because apparently cash still matters to them for some reason?

So never underestimate the power of the stupid.

I honestly think it has to do with where people are getting their info on the virus. My father in law for example is aggressively resistant to taking this seriously. No masks, no social distance, and he keeps comparing it to the seasonal flu. I think because everything these days has been turned into some kind of political issue and seen as zero sum, this must also fall into that category. If democrats think this is a big deal, then my FiL by default has to think its not a big deal. If our Mayor(who is black and a dem tells people to wear a mask, he won't do it because he doesn't agree politically and is also a bit racist). Everything has to have two sides even when there isn't. A lot of these people have been convinced that everything is some kind of attack against the president. And I think its telling when a certain segment of population feels that basic decency or common-sense recommendations are perceived as hostile.

My wife is a nurse I a hospital. There is an entire floor of this hospital dedicated to people with COVID-19. She has nurses that work with her that believe it is a hoax by the democrats. This is ridiculous on multiple levels. The governor is a conservative republican. He has apparently been corrupted by the dems. These same people quit talking to my wife socially when they found out she is not a fan of Trump. My wife isn’t even a flaming liberal ass hole. Then it would make sense.

I don’t understand people at all.

Here in Indiana you'll get a few who think it's a hoax but they are the people that are always ranting about some sort of government conspiracy so no one really takes them seriously.

Then you have a large group who understand the virus is real but with the info we have now think that the duration and extent of the lock down was far more damaging than the virus will be considering the numbers here in Indiana. Cases are rising, we knew they would, but we have hospital capacity and the numbers of covid patients in ICU or using ventilators has fallen off a cliff. 70% of our cases are people under 60 but 91+% of our deaths are over 60. This group believes that those most at risk (60+) should be very careful while the rest should go back to work and our normal lives with precautions. I'm in this group.

Last we have those who are either so scared or just want to stay on that sweet $990/wk unemployment/600 extra and think that anyone who wants to open up to save their business/life savings are irresponsible devils who want to watch the world burn while enthusiastically clubbing baby seals and grandparents to death.

I think the first and last group are outliers, though the last group is much larger than the first.

Just to be clear, when you guys say hoax do you mean think the virus doesn't exist, or think liberals are overeacting? Because those are very different things. One is misguided. The other is you should be shot for being so fucking stupid.

In my example, they think the virus exists. But liberals are overreacting in an effort to hurt republicans and Trump.
