Well i have a friend(that is CBSA) that is doing month at a boarder crossing in the middle of no where on the BC/Alaska boarder. Well it is un manned at night and there is a phone on the outside of the booth, that if it is an absolute emergency you can go to the crossing use the phone to contact someone. Well as the friend does every morning, went through the security footage from the night before. Well someone ran right through the crossing without stopping or even slowing down in there work truck with the company name all over the vehicle, i am sure this is going to end well for them.

Still on furlough from a casino up in NY. Our health benefits have been extended to August 31st and we received a WARN letter about our employment yesterday. It's not looking good for us opening up this year and to further that, I could easily see a resurgence in the winter months which would extend things even longer.
I've been looking for other jobs in the meantime, but for all of these people saying they can't fill positions and there are so many jobs out there being left unfilled, I went 40 pages deep looking for jobs today and there's MAYBE 4 I'm going to apply for and I can't imagine there's going to be a lack of applicants for them.
At this point, my fiance has a really good, high paying job and I might just be stuck on unemployment to the end of the year before we transition to running the bed and breakfast next spring. It's not terrible and it saves money not having to pay a contractor, but it's definitely not the ideal.

They are talking about all of these places hiring immediately in the Houston area. But they are all minimum wage retail and fast food type jobs. I don't think it's reasonable to expect someone from going from earning 6 figures to $15k per year and also expose one's self to all these intermittemask-wearers. All of the local hospitals are on hiring lock downs at the moment so getting a job at one of them is a no-go as well.

    thanks for sharing that.

Makes me giggle a bit now about all those people wearing "protest masks" made out of hardware cloth and shit. It sucks that they're making it worse for everyone else, but at least I can rest easy knowing they're now fucking themselves too.

Huge news for those of us who choose to believe it, yes. I’ll keep listening to these folks, thanks. If this has truth to it, places like here with strict mask policies and low numbers could go very well.

Good article. I've thought from early on that viral load explains a good part of why some people get sicker than others. Look at all the young medical personnel who have died despite not having any underlying health conditions.

I love how Fauci is throwing the pitch at the National’s opening day.

Does this not go against everything he’s been saying for the past 6 months including the upcoming 2nd wave? What a joke.

Sorry to interrupt your outrage, but you realize that they are playing in an empty stadium, right?

Well it’s not empty if there are players, umps, and personnel there.

So there’s a risk, as small as it may be. Certainly not enough for him to have a vanity project while he’s been telling people all year how serious this is and there’s a second wave coming.

    Perception is reality.

First of all; I'd give it a million to one odds that he goes out in a mask therefore trying to bolster his message all along that if you take simple, smart, preventative measures, you can still partake in SOME activities while also mitigating the risk of contracting/spreading the virus. Which has really been his message all along; if people don't start taking this shit seriously and doing at least the bare minimum, then yes, there is going to be a second wave. Although, since we've not actually left the first wave, is it really a second one?

Now in a perfect world where abject chaos would ensue, he'd then take a knee during the anthem.

Yet just a few months ago, it was all about shutting the entire economy down to prevent this. Masked work wasn’t an option. Now it’s ok?

A few months ago when there was very limited knowledge of how the disease transmits or how to treat it. Also, if things had started back in February with “everyone wear a mask, socially distance and try to minimize indoor interaction” (which seem to be the biggest things that we can do to prevent the spread) how many people would have actually done that?

also have to weigh the (minimal) risk against the benefit of putting a doctor front and center. Trolley Problem.

Less than 2 months ago Fauci said baseball coming back wasn’t a good idea.

I wonder if Fauci has reached the point of "I'm 79 years old, no one's listening to me anyway, we're fucked, I might as well enjoy a once in a lifetime invite from the MLB"

Yeah, baseball as we knew it, with full stadiums, etc, was most definitely NOT a good idea.

he said that sports as they used to be, with fans, no social distancing, lack of testing etc. wasn't a good idea. He was in support of the way organizations like the NBA are doing it, with a "bubble," no fans, testing, medical protocols, etc. in place. But nuance doesn't make for good headlines, and people don't like to support ideas that aren't either black or white

Masks aren’t a guarantee. Yet he’s willing to take that risk? For a baseball game. And we were willing to shut the country down just months ago for something that’s still as contagious as we initially thought.

So we’re willing to risk it for baseball but the economy wasn’t worth the risk. Got it.
