Trump’s supporters call her an award-winning virologist, everyone else— including the scientific community— say she is a quack, nutcase and thief. The first and third things are confirmed.

It’s funny how the same people who think Dr. Ford lies in her sexual harassment testimony think this woman is telling the truth. It’s too bad stupidity can’t produce antibodies.

That right there is the shit people can't seem to get through their heads. There is more to this virus than meets the eye, at least according to the studies we have at the moment. In addition to the potential for lasting cardiac issues there's an increased risk or stroke, lung damage, brain tissue damage, and so on. But these fucktards on tv and walking around crowing their refusal to wear a mask think that because many carriers are "asymptomatic" ( for now anyway ) that this is all a hoax or something the government is doing to control us. And no matter how hard I've tried, I cannot for the life of me make people, at least in my social circle, understand.

I lost a friend last week to Covid. She was only 48 and healthy, until Covid. She was hospitalized, began improving and was sent home, only to have difficulty breathing the next day. She went back and fucking died 12 hours later.

My kids’ school starts on the 17th and dad really felt they should go back but I put my foot down. They’ll be starting this year online. Yes, they’re very healthy young men and may not be susceptible. But 98% of the staff is over 40 and many are at least heavy, I don’t want my kids to watch teachers drop like flies.

    My condolences.

I think Virginia governor Northam will stop schools from going back. We had a pretty good trend, low daily new infections count, but it's on the rise. Our county is averaging about 1.5 new cases a day since May 24, which doesn't sound that bad. It's the larger school systems that he should be worried about. How many of the children that would reenter school are going to some form of daycare right now and having that exposure anyway?

I want my child back in school, but as that time gets closer, I wouldn't be bitter if they held off for a vaccine before they open. If they open he'll be there. If they don't, I won't be protesting the decision. If a teacher is concerned and doesn't want to come to work, I wouldn't blame them

There's no easy decision, nor one that is right for everyone in every state.

Anyone have definitive data showing that the Health and Human Services Dept is tweaking the Covid numbers? I've seen a few things posted on FB that the day they started posting the case numbers, the cases leveled off. And if it's on FB, it's gotta be accurate, right?

I'm in an essentially virus free country and I'd like to come back to the states to check on my house and just hang out a little. I'm thinking it's a pretty bad idea given that I'm 58 and I smoke. I'm also wondering if I'm being overly cautious. Reading this thread, with reasonable people discussing the virus, tells me I'm not being overly cautious.

The numbers have been off since...well, forever. What kind of data are you looking for?

The graph I saw showed a distinct leveling off the day the HHS took over the reporting of cases.

Still not clear. HHS via the CDC and/or ASPR has always been reporting cases. You mean, after the WH took over that role?

Texas airports: “wash your hands, back the fuck up from everyone, hope you ate before you came because nothing is open and we just wanna get you out of here ASAP! Oh wait you touched that too? Stop it! Now we’re gonna descend on that hand rail with half a dozen people in hazmat gear to scrub it down”

    Florida airports: “THIS IS SPARTA!!!”

That ship has sailed. The biggest role the government can play in a pandemic is giving direction to a population ready to take instruction. We have a significant portion of the public now who will never take instruction and will not comply with best practices no matter what. There is nothing the government can do about it, even if it were competently led.

Even the best Star Wars trilogy still had the Ewoks. The ones who survive will allow history to treat them poorly.

Misleading. CDC is part of HHS, in the same vein that CBP is part of DHS.

HHS has always reported the data. Now it's being routed through the WH Task Force, and THAT my friend might be the cause of some consternation.
