Kids school is canceled for two weeks. Winter Park just closed, along with all of the other resorts, which kinda trashes our family ski trip. We still have the condo but if nothings open, what’s the point? Our stores are out of toilet paper too. Denver has about 50 cases, last I checked. My work is slow and they’re discussing how to proceed. My husbands work is very busy though, they handle environmental cleanup( asbestos, meth, etc) and they just got contracted to sterilize a couple of school districts.
I really wish that our relationship with North Korea was better. They have no cases of coronavirus at all. If only they would share their secret...
Your best bet is low price tickets to Africa. It seems to have just skipped that continent........ From the people I know at P&G theyve already ramped up big time in production at Charmin. Seems tangible CPG goods are going to boom if they can keep the supply chain up. Service and entertainment industry are fuuuuuuuuuucked.
Went to the grocery store to pick up some basic stuff for my step father, who is recovering from cancer, and my family with youngins. The basics of what we eat in our day to day lives -- some ground beef, steaks, pasta, veggies and fruit. Apparently, if you enjoy eating healthy, you're going to be just fine. All the snack foods, soda, lunch meat and hot dogs, any pasta or bread with the word "white" on it, deserts, all completely gone. So was the toilet paper, paper towels, and paper plates. What was there was all the seafood, chicken, steak, wheat pasta was the only thing remaining in that aisle. The entire produce area was like completely untouched. You couldn't find canned tuna. There were some gorgeous, fresh salmon and tuna steaks however. People are complete fucking idiots. And we're gonna be able to go about our daily lives as if nothing has changed.
Our HEB was cleaned the fuck out. Every potato gone. No lettuce. Meat counter was bare. Canned goods were empty. Although, people forget that the international aisle has canned stuff too. I got a bunch of rice and beans last week when I saw the writing on the wall.
Lady on my FB town community board says that you can prevent the virus by gargling salt water twice a day.
At first I thought these was the most casually racist post in the history of TiB. Had to google what H-E-B is.
I legit think I have 2+ months of food and supplies on hand. Can make my own bread for months (frozen butter, powdered milk, etc), lots of rice and beans, lots of frozen veggies (garden and store bought), probably way too much meat in the freezer, and now jerrycans of gas for the generator in case the freezer power goes out. (got down to $0.79 CDN per liter last night). I also have a tray of lettuce starting to sprout along with other stuff in case food supply lines get weird in the next month. Only thing I might run out of is booze. And I did no “prepping”... this is just normal stuff on hand. Only thing I wish I had is hand sanitizer for when I can’t wash my hands. I’m very lucky in that I can easily work from home, as that’s the norm for me anyway. I really feel for people that can’t do the same. We’re already doing a “promote local” marketing campaign with work to help out local restaurants, pubs, and other service shops. I’ll be taking my local staff out for dinner twice a week to help with that. There’s going to be an impact, no doubt. We’ll see how big.
I have a friend who is one of those wunderlust types. As far as I can tell she works as a nurse on contract when she wants and travels the rest the year. She just flew to Cancun this past week and was posting pictures of eating fried grasshoppers in some country town. Some people say fuuuuuck it.
Figured this was as good a time as any to stop smoking cigars. I’d been strongly considering stopping for a while, but as with alcohol, I knew it wouldn’t stick until I genuinely wanted to stop. Next week or two might be rough without them, but not nearly as bad as if I got sick because of them.
For all those hoping for human morals to keep its head above water in these trying times, here comes the tide... ....leaving the pause in was brilliant on the part of the TV director. I think life’s about to come at this guy fast.
Dude’s now under investigation by the AG for profiteering during a National Emergency. He’s a special kind of stupid for being public about this. More than once.
Interesting Reddit AMA from a Red Cross worker in Rome Do y'all think the US and Canada will go into complete quarantine like they're doing in Italy?
