Around here, adults who get the pfizer generally get a four-month period between the two shots. For seniors and kids they are trying to push early vaccines.
Good to know... I've stopped watching the news or giving a shit because it's just "you're doing it wrong" and "oh my god the world is ending".
There is also some science that also shows a delayed 2nd dose is a bit more effective as well. But yes, it's a complex, nuanced, changing situation further complicated by having a bunch of different groups within the country, province, health region doing their own thing.
I read that factoid here but couldn't find any articles on it. My neighbor who had to delay her 2nd dose due to some severe asthma and reactive airway symptoms was able to get her 2nd shot, far delayed off her original schedule, but in a way I am glad for her because she will have a little more protection. She of all people needs it.
Second dose scheduled for June 25th at 3.10. So i have had my first shot, had covid, now getting my second shot. Hope that means there will be less side effect of the shot.
Nevada (And thus, Vegas) opened to 100% today and I seem to be the only one still wearing a mask. I guess we'll know in about 14 days if the pandemic is actually over, because this place will likely be ground zero if it pops off again.
I wore a mask into the pharmacy and got asked by the pharmacist why I was still wearing it, if I just liked wearing a mask because I didn't have to wear one now. I didn't expect to be pressured to take it off by my pharmacist. I am starting to not wear one in some situations, but if I get near a crowd I'm putting it back on. Not even for the covid, it's all the other sicknesses I have been free of throughout the pandemic. Very few colds, stomach viruses or flu... yeah I enjoyed being sick less than normal. One thing about wearing mask everywhere we go, it has made wearing a dust mask more tolerable. I'm sanding a bunch of joint compound and wearing an N95 doesn't get on my nerves as bad as it used to.
I can’t be the only one who is ditching them the moment they aren’t required right? I’ve worn them without complaint but they are annoying and haven’t given me any ancillary benefits that would warm me to continued use. I don’t get sick very often. I used to get sinus infections quite a bit but have knocked them out with allergy meds nothing mask would help with. The one down side in that regard is if I forget to switch them out each day, got a dozen from my aunt and mom, they accumulate allergens like pollen I assume as I breathe into them. End up with itchy eyes a nasals. It’s also lame how much continued use has become retarded political virtue signaling just to counter the retarded anti mask crowd.
Long covid kept me out of work for four months. Yes, I am vaccinated but it isn't 100% effective. Even if there is only a small chance that a mask will help protect me from catching covid or one of it's variants again I will continue to wear one. I've gotten used to them and they don't bother me in the least.
The political wellsprings for both Republicans and Democrats have been polluted beyond all recognition because Trump was so utterly polarizing. As for masks, I just follow CDC/state health guidelines. Massachusetts dropped it's mask mandate this past Saturday and has fully reopened the state. Based on that, I won't wear a mask. If a mask mandate is ever reinstituted for some legitimate reason, I will wear one again. The hospital we were at over the weekend stated that they may never drop their internal mask mandate. The reason was not because of COVID, but because they had almost zero instances of flu transmitted within the hospital in the last year.
Ohio's statewide mask mandate ends today. Counties and cities are still allowed to enact their own if they choose, but most have already repealed any that were in place to match the state. That being said, if I'm going somewhere that I know is going to be crowded and indoors, I'll probably still wear my mask until vaccinated rates get higher because even though I'm fully vaccinated, I still have two kids that are too you currently to get the vaccine and want to keep them as safe as possible. The good news is that they're both cool still wearing masks when we're out in public too, so it's not a fight to keep them safe. And like others have said, this is the first year that I haven't had any seasonal sinus infections or other minor illnesses that I typically deal with every 6 months or so and I can't deny wearing a mask everywhere probably was a big reason for that.
When I'm inside and wearing my contacts, I could care less about the mask. It doesn't bother me to wear one. But, if I have my glasses on, I fucking hate it, fogging up every other second.
I'm with you on that. Our mandate dropped of a week or two ago and while there are some places that still require it (and I'll wear a mask where required) most have dropped it. I'm vaccinated, it's getting hot out so unless the establishment requires it I will not be wearing one. I don't mind them in the winter since they keep my face warm but in the summer, no thanks. If Covid ramps back up and the mandate returns, I'll go back to wearing it without complaint even though I think the vaccination is effective enough that I shouldn't have to but that's like my opinion man, and amounts to nothing.
