PornHub Premium is now free in Italy for the next month. So I assume they're going to be offering this to other countries as well? Because I'm gonna be stuck at the house here for a bit and my wife is only so flexible.....
This isn’t entirely true. North Korea did have one case. Then zero. Then another one. Then it was back to zero.
If you want a perspective from another country: I see similar things here in Germany. Panic buying. People being stupid and not taking it seriously. I'm waiting for the state to order us to stay in except for supply runs or if you have a "job that's system-relevant". Can't wait to treat all those idiots. It feels like we're all holding our breath and waiting for the meteor to hit at my hospital.
It has arrived. Someone in my wife’s office tested positive. It’s a large office and she doesn’t interact with this person, but I’m not sure that matters. In addition, someone in my buddy’s office tested positive. He was at our house on Friday and his office is here in town. I can feel it closing in.
Attached is a screenshot of our unofficial projections. If anyone here is a statistician, data scientist, etc. and wants some volunteer work, I would love the help.
y'all this is getting beyond sad. Because we're now an "essential service," we're getting inundated with applications from people from all sectors who are just scrambling to pay the bills. On the one hand I am beyond grateful that we can continue to pay our employees and provide a necessary service (school) for our community, but I am extremely disheartened by the sheer volume of people we are seeing coming in just looking for anything we have. I'm concerned this will have some serious impacts on the economy, not just local but global. Though especially local.
Toytoy busted outta town last night it looks like. I'm working at home, but that could change any moment if they call me into one of the schools. 10 years ago everyone was like "find one thing you're really good at, then be a specialist in it!" Now they're like nah, it's best if you know how do everything to the level of not completely fucking it up. Also having what amounts to a mobile repair unit in my truck comes in a bit handy. I think I've worked more in the last 2-3 days than I do most 40 hour weeks. Being on call 24/7 sucks. But at least I have a job right now.
Most of the hard hit states are seeing 10-20x increases in unemployment from a WEEK ago. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/19/weekly-jobless-claims.html I'm working remote and will be for the foreseeable future. We're in a weird cadence of hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait....
My work gave me a $600 stipend to set up a home office. I already have a chair, desk and monitor. What should I get?
I am here. My 81-year-old boss just met with a guy in his 70s...they're on their way to the Courthouse for probate, because, you know, the Register of Wills is staying open, even though all other services are basically suspended. But don't worry guys, instead of going into the probate room, they're holding it at the counter to lessen the spread of germs. Can't make this shit up folks. My husband works for Mack Trucks and they shut the plant down this morning. I work in a legal office. I suppose I'm "essential"??
Printer paper and ink. I'm anticipating a momentary shortage on those as more and more people work from home, suppliers close and amazon runs low on stock. You're gonna use them anyway, and running out would be hugely detrimental. Order them now and laugh later when people try to price gouge reams of paper.
People are at home with their spouses. There's gonna be a flood of divorce cases coming across your desk in the next few days
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your sense of humor), I do estate administration. So either way, there might be a flood of cases coming in.
