So I got back to Newark from Mexico City on Monday, they are business as usual there, a couple of people were wearing surgical masks but that’s about it, museums were packed, restaurants were full. They let us walk right through customs when we got back to the states, no test, not even a temperature check, just walked right through. I have a feeling a lot of people brought it over and let it spread before the lockdowns started.
The relevancy seasons 4-10 have on just about anything is incredible. So, worst case scenario and in case we as individuals eventually become infected by this virus, what are the (current) best AND worst remedies if we get sick?
Do you have asthma or respiratory issues? Are you older than 60? Do you have other high risk factors? If not, drink lots of fluids, get rest, manage the fever (Acetaminophen I think is preferred - I have seen go / no go recommendations for alternating Ibuprofen in and out). Don't leave the house until you have no fever for 72 hours. That is all I know.
Australia seems to be taking it's time implementing measures to control the spread, the police had to evict people from Bondi beach yesterday due to people not giving a shit about the social distancing requirements. Shit is about to hit the fan here.
at least in North America some of us can evacuate to the country and live off the land if we need to. In Australia, the land lives off you.
Look at this. https://twitter.com/KySportsRadio/status/1241360418565689346 Stay the fuck home. Don't do something stupid because you believe you'll get it.
While I'm not arguing that staying at home is the only real effective measure, that graph is quite misleading. Tennessee has a population of 6.77 million. Nashville and Memphis are both well above 600k people. Kentucky is at 4.47 million and only Louisville is barely above 600k people. Apples and oranges. You can make numbers appear to say anything.
Welcome to the temporary New World kids, this is the biggest thing since 9/11 and you can bet your bustle that full lock downs are coming. Be cautious and force your older loved ones to starting mingling again in May. I say treat this as a dress rehearsal for Armageddon. This won’t end us, but it’s also serving as a true slap-in-the-face as to how soft and easily defeated we all are. These little, tiny unseen things are whiat eventually kills us all. What if this WAS an “Outbreak”-style certain death virus? It would be chaos right now. We, human beings, weren’t ready. The smart people are who we should (and should have) be listening to, and after the smokes clears THEY are the people who the funding needs to start pouring into, which for some reason it never has (there’s a few reasons). Let’s stop blowing each other up and realize shit like this virus doesn’t care about your nationalities, race or core beliefs. It just puts in a not-bad effort to kill anyone it infects, regardless.

Rumor has it they started looking into cell phone usage and there are over 8 million less users. https://twitter.com/jenniferatntd/status/1241025420562178050?s=20
A conundrum: during the winter months, for at least the last twelve years, I have a lurking bronchitis that rears its head in times of stress combined with really cold weather. It presents as a cough that usually only flares up at night. Well, guess what. My problem is a specific type of prescription cough syrup really helps but I’m out. Do I go to a digital clinic to get it renewed, or will I be met exclusively with COVID hysteria? No fever, no contact with an infected person, no one in this city has even tested positive. Like I KNOW this is the bronchitis I always get. I wish we had access to some third world pharmacies where you can just buy anything. Ugh.
Call your pharmacist and ask for advice. Even if you don't have a regular doctor they can pass messages along to clinics so that they'll expect you for your bronchitis issues.
That’s great advice. I have an awesome pharmacist that basically saved my father's life. I’ll give her a call tomorrow.
So Australia is finnaly startin to get in sync with the rest of the world and shutting down non-essential services starting tomorrow. My sister is a psychiatric nurse who is definitely not going to be shut down any time soon and her partner is at risk as is one of her children. Our old man is probably not in the best of health either so times ahead could be interesting.
