I don't think it ultimately matters; it's enough that subtrades are flatly rejecting it upon sight. The policy itself is 12 pages long and is full of various legalese as well as outlining what information they can collect, the degree of vaccination you're expected to have, when they can test, etc.

In the end, you're right, I don't think it matters.

If it's as onnerous as it sounds, then nobody will agree to it, and it won't get built.

Or, it will be adjusted until such time as people will accept it.

But in the end, I think it's a legit stance... if you're getting paid by civic cash to do civic work, then you should be following proper civic guidelines, including vaccination.

It's no different, to me, than ensuring you're properly licensed and insured for the job.

If the insurance requirements on the job were too high, and nobody was taking it as a result, how would you approach it? Would you just say "drop any insurance requirements", or would you say "get rid of it altogether"?

Agree with you 100%. This particular example, sadly, is through a bureaucratic entity so it's not so easy to get someone in charge to waive or change something. I bring up the example to point out that here is a comprehensive, rigid public policy created with the intent to save lives that's having a significant economic and social impact with far reaching consequences, some of them unintended.

I completely understand why they came up with the policy. I fully understand companies reading it and rejecting it. It leaves a quagmire behind where people either choose between not doing necessary projects that really ought to (and can) be done, or lying about how they're executing it to skirt the rules. Its an example that a boot on the neck won't necessarily make it better.

    Just my $0.02.

    Then it will get changed.

I'm dealing with something similar in the case of the US Infrastructure Bill.

They have some blockchain language in there that, because of the way it's worded, treats anyone who interacts with a blockchain node as if they are a financial broker, and are now subject to SEC/IRS reporting requirements, along with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements. Technically, what they are saying, is fucking retarded and that means anyone just hitting a node to read some info is now classified as a broker.

I totally get what they were going for... they want anyone dealing with cash transactions to be under KYC/AML reporting so that they can then inform the IRS to go get their taxes to help pay for the pandemic... but the way it was worded was stupid and shows a huge lack of understanding of the technology they are attempting to regulate.

In the end, the Treasury had to send out an official statement saying "yes, we know what the bill says, and yes, we agree it's wrong, and no, we won't be enforcing that section of it until such time as it gets amended to be somewhat normal, technically correct, and sane."

This is part of why 6 major blockchain CEO's were in front of Congress a couple weeks ago. (Their opening statement was basically "yeah, you have no idea what you're talking about, and should not be doing anything in this space without our guidance, so please tread lightly on the regulations, and please work with us on this").

We're likely going to make some similar changes in my industry. Typically, once the site is under the care and custody of the GC, it is the GC's policies that govern. This gives us flexibility to work with rules we deem as reasonable. The only thing that makes me nervous in your example is that, until the wording is fixed, it's actually just a gentleman's agreement not to enforce the wording. Technically, they could use it as a weapon if they deemed fit.

Here's to hoping that all the bad policies that make no sense actually get amended, rather than institutionalized.

The US Treasury made an official statement to that effect, so you could take that to court and say "they said they weren't doing this" and it should hold up.

They've also released many guidance reports that help to better articulate their intentions.

Still, the actual wording in the Bill has our lawyers working overtime, and all of my development team NOT in the US right now.

This is basically internet gossip, but this person is saying that toddlers may be able to get vaccinated by early March.

A good friend of ours (she actually set me and my wife up) caught covid last week. She has it bad enough to need to sleep sitting up, has zero energy and labored breathing.
I feel bad for her of course and want her to get better, but, a part of me is like "HA!" They moved to Idaho about a year ago and all her FB posts since then were about no masks, being able to be social, freedoms, not getting the vaccine etc etc.

I'm the Dcc camp that eventually the large majority of us are going to catch the virus and we can just protect ourselves the best we can with calculated risks. Obviously I don't want to catch it, but I still have a business to run and know that I'm not going to be able to social distance forever. Will be getting the booster shot just after the new year.

In the conclusions they mentioned that they predict a vaccine efficacy to prevent symptomatic infection of:

    • 73% for vaccinated + boosted
    • 35% for just vaccinated

It’s pretty impressive to be an interviewer and have Donald Trump come off as the reasonable one:

Owens doesn’t have reason. She says what she’s paid to say. She’ll be an actress for the Left in five years from now.

Would she qualify as an Uncle Tom?

Since I'm not black, I don't think I can accurately make that call.

Also, whenever I hear the name "Candace," it makes me think of "canned ass."

Well shit, according to the home test it's my turn. Figures it would happen when I'm on vacation.

Now I have to navigate what I'm supposed to do to get an "official" test from the county and then figure out if my work is following the five or ten day guidelines. I'm hoping 10, at least then I get something positive ( extra paid time off ) out of it. But then again I'd have to stay home that much longer. Damn
