I mean given the decline of people moving there and people moving out of Cali he doesn’t have to justify anything. He certainly has become more hardline and combative as the political opposition ramped up. His old MO was to just yes every guest to death and their words were gospel on any and every subject. I still give him more credit for at least having someone on with the opposing viewpoint to counter past guest. Hellavu lot more than most news outlets do today.
His format for interviewing and talking to people is great. Allows for some really in depth conversations. I just think Rogan’s been a dipshit about Covid the whole time and tries to bro-science his way out of complex topics under the guise of just being curious.
I think the taxes had a big part to play. Yeah, California went to shit with how hard they locked down, but being told he might have to pay that huge nut - even after he moves! - on the Spotify deal probably swayed him. GTFO before the government takes a big chunk.
California has low property taxes but high income taxes. Texas has high property taxes but low income taxes. Every time once of these guys really "makes it" and their income starts to dwarf even the value of their SoCal mansions they peace out to Texas. It's a pattern, but not one that applies to regular citizens in any way, because regular citizens don't have a house or an income.
Eh, I wouldn't consider someone in real trouble until they're hospitalized at minimum. Ventilated is probably a requirement for "they're pretty well fucked." Christie was hospitalized and even that fat fuck pulled through.
I got both of mine in the same go and it completely wrecked me for about 36 hours. Lots of body aches and the chills. Oddly, I never spiked a fever though. Good luck.
Yeah, I do my flu shot this weekend... did my booster a couple weeks ago, and it only made me sluggish and want to sleep for a day.
"Everybody knows this," said Beck. "This is basic science, this is basic medicine. That's what those drugs are used for in many cases. And yet, you're treated like you're a moron if you do that. What? I'm going to take a couple aspirin and go home and wait until you put me in the hospital? That's insane." I kind of see his point here, if the options are 'sit around the house until you're sick enough to be admitted to the hospital' or 'try some meds that have worked for some people' why not? Unless those meds actively make you sicker, what does it hurt? Now if he's taking those meds to strengthen his political stance? Well, that's just dumb. Special kind of stupid to jeopardize your life because of what you preach to your sheep on your radio show.
You know what else has worked for a lot of people and has shown to not actively make you sicker if you do happen to contract covid? THE FUCKING VACCINE!
I go get mine tomorrow, but since it's gonna be colder than a whore's heart out there tomorrow, if I feel a little under the weather it won't be a big deal. In other news, someone I know ended up in the hospital and really messed up after getting Covid, including Guillain-Barre syndrome which landed her in a rehab facility. She was a real staunch, anti-vax, "Covid is a hoax" type and now here she is. Someone was talking about putting together a gift basket for her and I also heard mention of monetary support. And I just kinda faded out of the conversation at that point. Because look, you played the odds, you were wrong, and now you're taking a medicine of an entirely different kind. It doesn't mean I don't care, but I also feel like it's rewarding stupidity. Of course I could be wrong.
Anyone else following the Australian Open drama with Djokovic? This thing keeps going back and forth and with all the relevant tennis metaphors the memes have been great.
Ahem, "game. set. match." Although there's yet another appeal happening right now, so it's still not over. Tournament starts on Monday though, so if he doesn't take the court then he forfeits.
This is one of the big issues I have; vaccination aside, if you know you've been exposed, it's early days and you feel like you're on the front end of getting sick, the message right now is, "Isolate, most people get over this just fine." But what if there's meds that can curb it getting worse instead of gambling that you'll get over it unassisted? It seems like the earlier people get treatment, the better their outcomes can be with serious cases. I wish there was more media and health dedicated to that right now. Also, I can kind of see his point...if he got sick with it earlier (and it was confirmed with a test), I probably also would have assumed immunity and not worried about boosters. If he's gulping shit in the name of servicing his brand, he can fuck off. He's always been so weird, I've never understood his mass appeal to people.
