CA and NY (two of the hardest hit places) are suggesting to not test unless they think the diagnosis will change the treatment. IE; Tylenol, fluids, rest. That tells me that the number infected is WAY higher than what the stats show. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/u...areas-restrict-testing/ar-BB11wD3I?li=BBnb7Kz
Nobody is touching playgrounds here. Kids are playing, but in the way NPC’s do in “GTA Vice City”. Evenly spaced, robotically. Like Village Of The Damned kids. ........soon.
That is what every expert has been shouting for days now. I just got off a call with some senior emergency response people. This is important enough that they were taking a couple hours on a Sunday to work through. Life happens. Hurricanes, floods, fires... all are going to keep happening. But how do you handle that shit in the middle of a pandemic? That is what they are most worried about in the medium to long term. If you are in a hurricane area, and a big one comes through, what do you do if you’re under a “stay in place” order? How do you do Work From Home emergency response? Where are the hot zones that you can’t risk exposing emergency personnel to? What impact does the localized pandemic have on first responders? Police, fire, EMTs, health care services... Never mind it’s a cyclical event. As people get more comfortable, restrictions are reduced, and it flares up again. Wash rinse repeat. Luckily we think we have a plan on how to help figure that shit out with some technology.
Im going to homeschool my kid during this lockdown specifically in home economics, since I just learned her school has none. Lesson one: learn to load a dishwasher the proper fucking way, 101. This is the FIRST thing they should teach in this class.
I tell you since our governor has told us getting out for fresh air is essential Im hoping the weather warms up and I can take some nice long drives by myself to enjoy it. Might leave the top up to avoid the side eye judging. I actually am trying to still run down a vacuum leak in my car but it's going to be hard to source the parts even though I have the free time to change them.....
The National Guard has been activated for Washington, California and New York. A medical ship is also being sent to Seattle. This all still feels like the first ten minutes of Outbreak or something.
Has anyone heard any information about how many of the people who have died were smokers? Because the Chinese Coronavirus is primarily a respiratory infection, right? What's worse for your respiratory system than smoking? No one has mentioned anything about this, only vaguely talking about "preexisting conditions."
No, people have mentioned it. I just think there hasn't been a ton of research because for one there isn't a lot of data out there to study, but also because smoking obviously stresses the lungs and causes respiratory issues, which are great if you wanna die from COVID-19. I used to smoke cigars occasionally. Quit that shit in a hurry once I got my senses about me with this. I'm sure I'm still more at risk than the average, healthy person, but stopping a few weeks ago was better than still doing it.
Labatt Breweries are switching from beer to bottling hand sanitizer at at least five plants across Canada. Good on them. https://london.ctvnews.ca/mobile/labatt-to-switch-production-from-beer-to-hand-sanitizer-1.4863529
I figured he meant Labatt Blue, but Nett looks like that guy who would post in a few days “Well I got my homemade brewery up and running, and the first batch isn’t too bad.”
You can't make it if you can't source isopropyl alcohol... and I'd use food grade glycerine rather than tea tree or aloe... cheaper, and still does a good job. I've actually got some isopropyl alcohol coming in from an electronics supply store in Toronto (due to arrive sometime this week, and I probably didn't need a 4L jug of the stuff, but that's all they had left), as it's used to clean PCB's and other electronic parts... but all the local supplies are totally empty as everyone HAS been making their own.
Ah Australia, priorities sorted Reported by our national broadcaster: And the following businesses have been dubbed essential to society and will remain open: Supermarkets Banks Petrol stations Pharmacies Convenience stores Freight and logistics Food delivery Bottle shops
In other news, I'm a little worried that we're overcorrecting in our response to the hoarding issue. My local grocery has started implementing per-item limits on certain items, and these limits include a one-per-household limit on beans. So if you have a recipe that calls for six cans of beans for example, that's six trips to the grocery store in a week just to get the beans. That's much worse for the situation than allowing people to get a week or two's worth of groceries at one time, and limiting the number of total trips people need to make. I think a much smarter limitation would be on total dollar amount or weight of limited items.
I found this article interesting. Don't let the title throw you, he's talking about the mortality rate in reference to Trump. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news...s-right-about-covid-19-who-is-wrong-1.8691031
