It was the summer Olympics, hardly a sacrifice.

Tell that to every other country that’s humming and hawing about it. And the empty sports channels.

I don’t get that policy either for those same reasons. But thankfully, the mad panic rush to groceries stores seems to have normalized a bit around here. Yesterday my wife and we’re driving around just to get out and it seemed like the groceries stores were as packed as you’d normally expect on a Sunday.

The limits should be more reasonable, but if I have to deal with a little inconvenience so Joe McFucktard stops buying 30 years worth of asswipe I can live with it.

Oh for fuck's sake. Apparently coughing on produce for lolz is becoming a new social media trend for retarded teenagers.

They need to be a put in prison. For like a month. I don't care how young or that they 'just kidding'. Given how easy it is to transmit without symptoms there is a very real chance these fucking morons are going to get people killed.

I fully support an idiot's right to express every last bit of their stupid, but that stops when it starts putting others at risk.

There is this one Mom still setting up her girl scout cookie booth anywhere that hasn't told her to stop. Actually, she's probably doing it more now, because her husband's used car dealership business has got to be in the shitter.

If I were to wish this virus on someone, it would be this mom. There is not a more dangerous and self-interested person around. She comes flying through the school parking lot every morning and afternoon during drop off, stops and parks anywhere but a proper parking spot. I guess she's in a hurry to get to her husband's ghetto, buy-here-pay-here dealership and be the secretary.

Well YEAH, they make us look badass because it’s too cold for the tropical people to show up and whomp our asses.

Panic shopping has dissipated around here and now you no longer have to join an 8am store cattle call to buy basic supplies. It’s just so odd seeing no people without school being in or anything. It’s like somebody used the Infinity gauntlet.

I'm actually pretty relieved they issued the stay at home order for Ohio. My wife is an nurse practitioner in an ER and we've already had some pretty difficult discussions about what may be coming and how we can handle it. If things get real bad she's going to get an AirBnB to prevent me from getting exposed. I'm more worried about here well being. She already deals with major anxiety related to work, and it would really suck to not be able to be around her when she's going through some immensely stressful times. I'm hoping that the stay at home order will keep things from getting really out of hand and it won't have to come to any of that.

For me today is the last day at the office as we'll all be working from home for the next couple of weeks. I should be able to get a pretty good setup going in my office at home, but working with CADD files remotely has never worked very well for me.

We are getting curfews all over Florida.
I don't get what this is supposed to do. Doesn't this just mean more people at the store at a given time since now they have to follow a tighter window? I assume there is something resembling a logical reason, but it's not immediately obvious to me. If it's about people going to the bars, or whereever why not just close those down?

People need to stay at home, and they're not. This is a mild and probably ineffective attempt at enforcing that.

State leaders, for the most part, are morons.

The calls I was on this weekend stressed a key thing to me... local leadership needs to act RIGHT NOW, and very decisively, not in 3 weeks after it's apparent to even the biggest morons around. And, for the most part, they are NOT acting quickly or decisively.

The experts are saying "stay the fuck home, EVERYONE is at risk", and too many people think that they know better... whether it's the stupid 14 year old kid, or the state governor who doesn't want to drop in the polls.

Even people around here are "well I don't see what..."

Yeah... no shit... you don't... but that doesn't mean fuck all. You're not the experts, and thinking you are is no better than an antivax mom "doing her research".

It's fucking frustrating how we, as an "online nation", seem to just disregard experts... or look to the wrong people as experts. Right now everyone is in full "AM I BEING DETAINED" mode, and it's retarded.

The latest numbers I got yesterday is that we're going to see almost 6 million deaths in the US as a result of this, and way more sick.

    Stay the fuck home, people.

I think a lot of politicians are afraid of civil unrest if they actually lock them inside and enforce it with police and the National Guard and everything.

Gun stores in the US are completely empty, and you can forget about finding something online and having it shipped to your local FFL. The scary thing is, people who actually are safe around guns, and know how to use them, already have them. These are all first time buyers walking into a shop pointing at something that looks like it goes bang and saying "I'll take that."

Of course, the only thing more terrifying than civil unrest right now, is going to be civil unrest later when people start dying by the millions and there's fuck all they can do about it because the hospitals are overloaded and local politicians were scared of pissing people off for the short term.

I agree they need to stay home, I just meant it as in how is a 1/3rd of the day curfew really going to fix that?

In any case I guess someone up the chain now came to their senses because they just decided we are getting a (near) full lockdown now, which is probably overdue. Looks like grocery store trips and that is about it. I just got my paperwork so I can go back and forth to work.

They should have had more in place for people living paycheck to paycheck who are not in 'essential to society' jobs. This could really suck for a lot of people.

Welp, here in the office today. As long as the USPS is up and running, my shit is still due on the given due date. My firm does not have enough laptops or licenses to have everyone work from home, so here I am. I found out we applied for an exemption for certain departments, such as family law, immigration and estates. Yay lawyers.

I also found out this weekend that someone from the USPS in my area tested positive for COVID-19. My mil, who's a retired postal worker, was talking to her mailman and he told her. He said they're trying to keep it out of the media since it would, of course, create mass panic.

    Interesting study from China: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32077115

"Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, 1.4%) patients and current smokers (1.4%) were rare."

The sample pool is way to small to be conclusive in any way, but "China has the largest smoking population in the world, with around 316 million adult smokers, and accounts for nearly one-third (30%) of smokers and 40% of tobacco consumption worldwide." It seems rather strange that such a low number of smokers got sick.

Fuck the fucking Olympics. I mean between it and FIFA they’ve dug a hole so deep mired in corrupt disgrace it’s difficult to watch anything involving them, not knowing if some Eurotrash sociopath pulled the Don King-strings on whoever is judging. And if you let Russia compete they’ll just cheat at everything.

Talked to my Florida based grandparents yesterday. She's 90 and doing fine, he's closing in on 92, on oxygen and his heart is getting weaker. About a month ago his heart was at 25%, now it's down to 20%. Even if I wanted to subject myself to flying right now (which I don't) it would be extremely irresponsible to visit them after flying across country. Kind of hit home yesterday that I might not ever be able to see him again due to this shit.
