A potential breakthrough in Covid treatment if it works in human trials. https://news.northwestern.edu/stori...performs-current-antibody-treatments-in-mice/
I hate the entire concept of "we built an industry around this, so it's important that we keep it going in perpetuity". Like no bitch, that's not the point. You should've kept your day job instead of angling for the title of Etsy Mask Mogul.
I guess the whole concept of shifting supply chains away from a single, ultimately antagonistic, low cost country was just a fleeting moment of thought. Outside of lockdown and restriction blueprints for localities looks like we are reverting back to the same pre pandemic thought process and bottle necks. Certainly doesnt make much business sense to invest in infrastructure on the off chance we see something this big again but from a strategic standpoint, as country, you think we'd have done more to protect our interest.
The first couple sentences are stupid enough to make me hate it. The media whining about that judge’s ruling is just weird. And it wasn’t even really about the mask mandates, it was about the CDC overstepping its authority, again, in setting and imposing federal policy.
I mean, it was a terribly reasoned opinion. She just openly ignores parts of the statute, dismisses Chevron deference because she feels like it, and gazes deep into Webster's navel to assert that words mean exactly what she wants them to mean, and not any other common usage.
I don't give a shit, that's a circuit/appellate court's problem. It was the right decision regardless. The CDC can chill the fuck out with this and whatever the fuck they were trying to do with eviction moratoriums. The paranoid, blue check mark shut-ins of Twitter are going to have to leave the house at some point.
Apparently it is, considering they now have to file an appeal in court to reinstate it. Which is completely pointless since they the appeals process will likely exceed the deadline of the original extension.
The public policy decision on mask mandates is the not the same thing as the court decision on the legality of mask mandates.
It was a terrible decision made by a judge who had no business being in the position she is in. It will be overturned.
Right, a higher court problem. To do what? Extend the mandate beyond the originally targeted deadline for...?
My brother in law, who is vaccinated because it’s a work requirement but doesn’t believe Covid exists, got Covid on Monday. He is now in the hospital after suffering a stroke this morning. He has high blood pressure, which apparently combined with the variant even through the vaccine, was enough to give him a stroke in the shower. no word yet on if he was actually stroking it in the shower while this occurred, but given how much of a bitch my sister is, I wouldn’t blame him. Great guy, love him to death, but you can guess which flags he flies from his boat.
A friend of mine, who is a year younger than me, and is very fit (he's a cyclist), had mini-stroke while he was sleeping about a month ago. He woke up practically blind with very limited tunnel vision. He can't drive anymore, can't really work, and his current prognosis is that his condition will be permanent. ETA: Oh, wasn't thinking about this being the Covid thread - not Covid related. Just the stroke story reminded me about it. Fuck I'm 53 and didn't want to be worry about a damn debilitating stroke.
Moderna has submitted data on its vaccine for 5 &unders. If approved an EUA could be available in June. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/28/mod...covid-vaccine-for-kids-under-6-years-old.html
I think we're finally back to the good old days, when you see someone wearing a mask, they're going to rob the joint. I keep getting these news updates where a man has robbed a bank or retailer in cloth mask the likes of which we all wore around not long ago. Yet, I don't see people actually wearing them for any other reason.
Biden giving Fox "News" clowns grief is hilarious. https://twitter.com/mattwilstein/status/1520588204373463041
