yeah I guess I meant as far as like seeing what it could still do to an otherwise healthy person. Obviously I’ve seen a lot of mild cases too like you mentioned. It’s the really bad ones that stick with you though. Sometimes literally haha
I felt not great on Sunday. A persistent cough and runny nose. On Monday, I thought I should at least get tested to reassure my clients this week. Oops, I tested positive and now have to quarantine for 5 days then get retested. I will be fine as I am already feeling better. Just very inconvenient. Yes I am very appreciative that I am only inconvenienced.
Y’all this new variant SUCKS. I’m back to wearing a mask everywhere, because from what I’ve seen of how it can affect people, I want zero part of that. be safe out there
BA.5. It's the most infective variant so far, can evade previous immunity, and is able to infect the lungs better than Omicron.
you will. It’s going wild down here because Texas has no chill. Given how y’all did things before, wouldn’t surprise me if Canada goes on lockdown with how severe some of the issues can be from this one. It’s hitting people HARD. And it’s crazy contagious. my wife got it we believe from a flight out of Orlando. Sat next to a couple returning from Disneyland or world or whatever. I’m sure that place has Covid everywhere.
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/07/11/politics/second-covid-19-boosters-all-adults-plan/index.html No dates given, but approval for an additional booster for healthy adults under 50 is being pushed.
Novavax has been given EUA in the US for anyone not yet vaccinated. I hope it gets approval for use as a booster before fall.
No, Monkeypox is something completely different, a type of variola virus, which causes smallpox. New Covid variant: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/new-covid-variant-ba-5-prompts-higher-infections-and-reinfections
Our oldest tested positive this morning. He has a cough and stuffy head; says the bar to indicate a positive test popped up immediately. So his camping trip with his girlfriend's family just came to a screeching halt. His brother's girlfriend was here the last two nights, and the poor kid just became and aunt and has been anxious to see her sister and the baby. And now she can't for a while longer. I guess if that's the worst that happens, we're doing good.
Hey how long until we start a Planet of the Apes monkeypox thread? Here's a sneak preview: It's genuinely fucked that we've immediately painted it as another "gay man's disease", mainly because if "only they can get it" this shit will spread like wildfire by dummies who think they're hetero-inmune. And with all the bullshit currently circulating about groomers and drag shows in libraries, imagine the response to all those schoolchildren coming home with it.
The WHO has already come out and suggested gays don't fuck randos without abandon. We couldnt even get people to wear mask.
