Well, it happened. Hubs is testing positive after a work trip in DC. He was masking the whole time. I've tested negative but have the sniffles so I'll retest tomorrow. Kiddo is acting totally normal. Obviously there has already been some exposure but we are masking and hubs is mostly staying downstairs.
I think yesterday was my peak symptoms. Its weird because I'll get new symptoms every day or two. I'm finally not getting nauseous at the thought of food but now can't taste anything. Y'all know how I am with food, so I am hoping this one resolves sooner rather than later. It's weird, I can't taste anything, but can sense sweet, salty, bitter, and a little sour.
Every one of my friends who said they had weird taste stuff got the same question. "So, does that mean you'll start sucking dick again, or.....?" I'm a month away from my bout and most everything is back to normal except the asthma, which went for a fuckin ride there for a minute.
Covid rant: My godmother/mom’s best friend just had a hemorrhagic stroke, likely due to her crazy post covid symptoms. She’s had insanely labile blood pressure ever since she got covid the second time (she’s a doc in a large urban hospital) and that was probably the culprit. Like 90/60 one day and 190/110 the next. She seems relatively like herself but it’s gonna be a long road for her.
A bunch of guys at work (tractor operators) have been getting the Chinese virus. A couple of days ago, I was working on one of their tractors - in the cab - and then found out that particular operator is out with Covid. Let's see how this goes.
Anybody else get the new bivalent booster yet? I got spikevax/Moderna earlier and i feel like someone took a bat to my upper arm and armpit. The baby is actually sleeping well but my arm keeps waking me up. No fever like with #2 or 3, but OW!!
Jealous, I am wearing a sweater, curled up under a blanket sipping hot tea in my 73* house. Still shivering. But arm is less sore so that’s nice. Go little antibodies go!
Even this "weaker" strain was a real heckin pain in the ass. It was 2 weeks til I was down to just sinus/mucus/head cold symptoms, 3 weeks for it to mostly go away. I had about 3-4 days in the worst of it where I just laid in bed and watched TV with my kiddo. Gonna get my booster very soon.
Got the bivariant booster last week. I had side effects from the initial shots and the first booster, but surprisingly no noticeable side effects this time around.
Eddie Holmes goes on TWIV and explains why the lab leak theory is nonsense. This is 90 minutes long, so you'll need a block of time to watch it.
bivariant booster not nearly as bad as the first booster. Bad headache and I feel a little slow... but arguably I've always been a little slow. Some site soreness, nowhere near the other one. I should be fine or close to it by tomorrow.
I'm not sure if I'm going to get a 4th one. It's pretty annoying to get another injection every couple of months. The first 3 I have no regrets, but they did take me out for 2 days a piece. I'll probably reserve a slot through the company, but yea...another two days of downtime is not something I'm keen on.
Spoke too soon. 100.1 fever, higher than I ran with actual covid — admittedly, it takes a lot for me to run a fever. Feels like I got hit by a bus. would still take this a thousand times over vs actual covid, and apparently the bivariant booster really works
give me the booster as often as you want over getting raw dogged by the actual thing please and thank you. I’ve known plenty of people who have gotten Covid after getting the shot — im sure we all do at this point. The last thing I want to risk is my immune system being caught off guard by a new variant, and getting fucked up again though. Because sadly I also know a lot of people, including myself, who have gotten the full strength of hurricane Covid. Sadly, some of those people are now dead.
I got my bivalent booster this weekend too. Took about 10 hours before it hit me, and then it felt like a moderate head cold. Body aches, headache and a cough. Still feeling the lingering affects from it today too. I'll be getting all the boosters going forward. I've been dealing with some kidney stuff (nothing concerning) for the past year and my nephrologist says that puts my at increased risk from COVID. I got it after my first booster, and it was pretty mild. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
this is kinda where I’m at. The previous booster hit me within 30 minutes and I knew it was gonna be a ride from there! When I got Covid, it destroyed my kidneys — I think I said that on here? — to where my dr said if I’d been drinking alcohol prior that would have put it over the edge. If I needed to, I could work today. I’ll certainly be doing some work from home. Doesn’t take much strength to do phone calls and emails. i also just read this which makes me VERY glad I got the booster
