Guuhl one of my friend's wives is trying to becoming an influencer. Just no. I like how celebrities are being called out for asking everyone to donate and having a flood of "clap backs" that maybe fucking Rihanna can donate some of her multi hundred million dollar fortune when the people she's asking are out of work. Come on Rhi Rhi why no spending like Bloomberg?
I think the fact that it’s been nearly a month with no movie premieres, concerts or other celeb events is eating these people alive inside. They can’t handle the fact that they just have to sit at home like everyone else and suck it up and that no one actually gives a shit.
Never mind the huge unemployment that is on the way... it's going to be interesting to see what kind of impact that has on their influence.
You mean the huge unemployment that’s already here? The NY Times estimates it’s around 13% for the US in March, a month in which over 10 million people filed to receive unemployment benefits, including a record 6.65 million in the final week of March alone. I’m kissing my paycheck each time I receive it.
Estimates are that it will hit 40% or so. So yeah, it may be here, but it's still coming. In other news, this is an interesting interview: Jared Kusher ‘doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about:’ commander of Katrina Task Force https://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/...t-commander-of-katrina-task-force-81625157540
Their whining goes to prove my theory that most of these people are not “cool”. A lot of them are actually giant dweebs who pull dumb social media stunts that blow up like a Road Runner boobytrap. ...Hello, Gal Gadot? What in the world was that creepy garbage? And that face she made at the end as if to say “Ooh, yeah, I really went somewhere just now.”.... and the rest of those attention-starved Jackals just followed her lead like circus seals. ....”Imagine” if we realized we didn’t need celebrities anymore.
To be fair I googled it and it looks like her charity has donated 5 million to Covid 19 related stuff. How much is that of her money vs donations to the charity? Still better than the 10-20k most celebrities break out for stuff.
In defense of celebrities, James Blunt is doing a great job tweeting jokes at his own expense and roasting people who try to come at him.
James Blunt is also a fucking badass. A major in the military during the Kosovo fiasco, he’s credited with saving thousands of lives when he disobeyed a direct order he believed to be the result of an error. He was correct. Also I don’t think he ever talks about his service.
300 died in NYC yesterday. Almost 1500 cops are now infected. It will be 2000 dead in the city tomorrow and it’s pinballing FAST. They are in serious trouble.
We are super goddamn fucked in this country. Between the feds intercepting PPE shipments to the states so they can sell them to corporations first, red states getting preferential treatment to blue states with regard to getting supplies, Trump accusing nurses and medical staff of hoarding supplies they don't have, and our infected and dead trajectory already surpassing every other county on earth, we are going to lose wayyy more people.
Well thank the fuck christ. Losing my job is bad enough. Not knowing when I will be able to get another sucks more. But at least I can eat my Cadbury cream eggs in quarantine.
It probably makes me a bad person but I have been thinking about discount Easter candy for at least a month now.
A good family friend is married to a nurse. One of those nurse mercenaries who works on short contracts, she goes wherever the money is best. All over the state, used to be all over the country until they had children. Three under the age of 3. Now she's considering following the big payday again. To NYC. Her thinking is, it's a month contract for stupid good money plus room and board (no word on if it's bring your own PPE). Everyone except her thinking is: yeah but then your husband can't work for the month you are gone plus two weeks of quarantine when you return, because who's gonna watch the kiddos? And that's if she doesn't die there. It's one thing to want to go there to help out, lend your expertise, do it for morally righteous reasons. But when you're traveling halfway across the country just to follow the money, as she has made perfectly clear is why she wants to, and leaving a young family at home while endangering your life.... that's a little fucked in the head.
I think this is the first elected representative to die of the virus. State level, but still. And it's not Washington or California or New York, it's South Dakota: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/south-dakota-state-rep-dies-coronavirus_n_5e89017ec5b6cbaf282a6316
she won't be the only one; people on the sidelines are gonna get lured into fighting this. I've seen FB ads asking for people who are EMS to sign up for 6-week stints in Chicago. 21 days on-2 days off, 60+ hours guaranteed. PPE is guaranteed, and they'll put you up in a "hotel"... my point is: if anyone you know signs on for one of these, tell them to plan on not coming home anytime soon...
yeah maybe that’s why I’m not so quick to jump on that Instagram person who left nyc for the Hampton’s — people are going AWAY from this shit. There’s a reason. If you can get away from it, good get away. Use whatever money and means necessary. Protect yourself. If you wanna chase a paycheck and go into it? Great, but understand that could be the last paycheck you make. See you in a body bag in 6 weeks.
