That number is just going to grow and grow. The number of people that did the right thing, gave up what the states took, are going to start wanting it back. When all the states are doing is hanging on to it, calling out dates that they might give it back or, like a few states, just saying indefinitely.

I hate the idea losing freedoms, but I know that unnecessary contact with people outside of my home is essential. So I'm doing it, staying at home. I live in Virginia, I believe the governor closed down the state longer than any other state when he announced June 10th, excepting the indefinite ones.

What's your tipping point? What freedom would you have to lose to get you to stand there and demand the states give it back? For me it's not going to the hair dresser or opening the gyms back up or anything I've seen on a poorly painted sign at these protests so far. If Northam shut down recreational boating here, he and I would have a problem.

Essential utilities: Internet, water, electric, gas. I have no problem staying at home if it means less people die. But if you make impossible for me to stay home and have any semblance of a normal life.....

I’m privelaged enough that the only meaningful impact on me is that I can’t go out to eat and my kids can’t see their grandparents. Outside of our planning day once every two weeks I prefer to work from home. If I lost my job I would probably have a different feeling and the tipping point would be lower.

Yea see there are a handful of just as rigorous, ie not at all, that say the opposite but that doesn’t let the press get a dig at the president.

Maybe the President is being dug at because he has no medical background or training and was recklessly pushing an unproven drug to a public that also has no medical background or training, all the while the medical experts were saying "this is untested, let us test it first and do things properly."

    Have a source for that?

I’d imagine that as a broad spectrum treatment this drug might not be effective, but ultimately it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have clinical utility. There are a ton of variables to consider to know if it works for people- does it work for old people vs. young? At the start or symptoms vs. when it is serious? If people are in the midst of a robust immune response vs. immunocompromised, if they have elevated liver enzymes / are showing other symptoms of challenges to their organs, maybe they are worse candidates? Hard to know without more robust data- which is exactly why it’s fucking retarded to order a run on a drug before it has any data in an indication.

There is going to be a lot of exciting work in pharma moving forward when we can better analyze data to figure out what products work for which people. It’s very possible that past drugs that have failed clinical trials because they were not effective enough on average could have utility for a subset of the population owing to genetics, and there will be / already is some cool stuff happening with genetic profiling in the industry.

    Bullshit. Cite your sources.

I have found a dozen small studies. Several of them were indeterminate. Several had data collection issues (e.g. nonspecific results, results comparing different collection methods or numbers). Some were outright negative. A couple indicated a small improvement.

Here's a summary report of several studies with links to the sources:
    https://www.goodrx.com/blog/coronav...oquine-as-covid19-treatment/#research-studies

The study ROTN linked to was by far the largest.

Working for a casino, as I said earlier, they have indicated June 30th as a potential re-opening. This was the overwhelming consensus with all of the Vegas properties as well as many outside of Vegas. There just isn't an easy way to control for all of the variables inside a casino. There is no way a casino can open with a 50 person minimum, it's just not worth it to keep the lights on and the laws requiring games and tables to be open. Even with 500 people it was an issue where the casino wasn't getting enough traffic to warrant having all of the dealers/attendants/cashiers etc working. Not to mention the fact there are A TON of old people who visit casinos, more so then any other demographic. These people are at the most risk and they should be turned away if we are trying to keep at risk populations from mixing with low risk.

Casinos are going to be the last places to open in all of this.

No, he's saying that people are using it as a bullshit reason to take a shot at Trump... the fact that he pushed so hard for something that WASN'T tested is more than enough reason to take a shot at him.

Trump's stance on this whole thing has been moronic, and dangerous:
