"Jeremy"- that used to be on MTV every time I turned it on. I don't really like her (especially since she stars in the worst commercials ever), but Sarah McLachlan was really popular back then. One of her songs could be a loungey/coffeehouse song. (Any singles escape me since I changed the station whenever a song came on). Or Ani DiFranco.
I'm assuming this one has already been drafted, but Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game". It's kind of lounge-ish. Heartbroken lounge maybe.
Epically bad? Must have heard that shit 90 million times, ugh thank god for Ipods. This was mid late nineties when the KISS station tagline was "All your favorite music with out all of that rap!" For reals. On a different note, I forgot how hot that bitch was. Damn Swedes and their aryan hotness.
Now we're cooking. One other rule that I didn't mention...I can only draft one song by each artist. And the forum is kind of filled with that elitist music snobby types. Imagine KIMaster's attitude about movies, apply to music (yet Ace of Base went first round as did C&C Music Factory). Not that this will really affect what I pick, but that is why I am trying to make it well balanced. Some comments.... Cardigans Lovefool was already on my short list. If loving cheesy music is wrong, I don't want to be right. I am picking Tupac over Notorious BIG in the east coast west coast debate because I am a sucker for California Love (my go to running song when I have to make it up the big hill or finish strong). I was going to pick it first round but figured it would be "safe" for a few more where all the Radiohead choices would probably go fast. I almost picked Wicked Game but picked Freedom 90 since it has the same hot supermodel type video. And I love George Michael more than I love any other gay man who has sex in bathrooms with strangers. He had to be represented Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit and Metallica Enter Sandman went round 1 Prodigy Smack My Bitch Up is now on my list representing the rave-y techno ecstasy party song...thanks! I have never been a fan of PJ, I have no idea why. I also can't include Sarah McClaughlin on principle of the fact that I can't listen to her voice without seeing sad puppy dog eyes and for that I hate her Had forgotten about I'm Free, that song is representative of the 90s for sure.
Hot damn, just looking again, Estranged was selected, not November Rain. I want a Rage Against the Machine song to represent the angry political statement music of the late 90s. Which song do you guys think...Guerrilla Radio or Bulls on Parade?
A few more rap songs that define the 90's for a white kid in New Mexico watching too much MTV. Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check by Busta Rhymes LL Cool J - Doin' it feat Leshaun Warren G - Regulate ft. Nate Dogg
Just had a relaxing coffee on the deck after a rain storm, and had some company drop by. I sat there for about 15 minutes while a doe and 2 fawns sat there and noshed away on the trees, all while I captured it on video. The baby closest to me saw me, but didn't know what to make of it.
Tracy Chapman- Give Me One Reason This one has been posted right? Surely. Oasis- Wonderwall Edit* Can't forget Boyz II Men- Water Runs Dry
Oasis and Green Day get no love from these people for some reason. Which is a shame because I think What's the Story Morning Glory is one of the best songs ever.
You didn't for hip hop, but I'm officially down the rabbit hole... Geto Boys- Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster Mobb Deep- Shook Ones Pt II Some others... The Breeders- Cannonball Third Eye Blind- Semi Charmed Life Edwyn Collins- A Girl Like You
