I just put in my earphones even though my iPod battery is dead. He seems to have gone inside. Crisis averted. See kids, some things can be resolved without violence
Yeah...they call it a box. We spend all day talking about jerking and snatching in my box. And yes. My ass has proven to be a very effective marketing tool....not even kidding. Three women joined because I came in on a Saturday and they decided they wanted my ass and legs.
Alright, I will put this back on you. You have admitted that Mr P was in prison in the past, what for, I am not sure, but have a knee jerk reaction to criminals. Do you think all can be lumped into a tidy box of "criminal"?
The problem with all the local cross-fit gyms is that they're outrageously expensive compared to regular gyms. I'm so torn about what to do in February when it's time to decide if I want to renew or not.
He was sent to prison for possesion of heroin. I tend to think drug offenses are violating my rights. Breaking into my property is very different.
For 5 months membership to a Crossfit gym you can BUY everything you'd need and do it at home or with friends. Crossfit gyms are great if you have no idea how to do any of the Olympic lifts, but they are easy to outgrow quickly.
That's true. I tell my people that ultimately they should be able to do it on their own. Some gyms are stupid expensive. Mine isn't.
Honestly, my regular gym has pretty much all the cross-fit shit I'd need to train. The problem is that I really do need a few one-on-one sessions of someone correcting my form and explaining everything. Doesn't cross-fit.com release new WODs every day anyway?
I am assuming there was to be a "not" in there. I could say more and try having a converstion about it but fuck posting on this iPhone with it's random spacing and line returns
Yep. And going for a month or two as a trial to learn all the lifts is a great idea, and FAR cheaper than personal training sessions at a local gym (which, for the most part, are terrible). You can get some workouts online, but the trouble with Crossfit.com is that the programming is totally random and, if you are going towards a specific goal, sometimes counterproductive. Some of the Crossfit offshoot sites (like Crossfit Football) have a much more programmed approach to fitness, which I prefer.
I have visited three different cross-ft locations in the Toronto area. They are all stupid expensive, and most of them want you to complete a one-month mandatory 'bootcamp'. I went to watch one of the bootcamp classes and it looked like a total waste of time and money.
Nothing in this post is false, but you have to ask what your motivation level is. I haven't been to a crossfit gym, but from what I understand there is pressure to show up much like a martial arts school. As annoying as it can be, there's value in that because you actually show up. All the equipment in the world won't do you a bit of good if you lack the self motivation to do it with no external coach pushing you. I've been on both sides of the coin, when I was 20 I worked out three times a day, far beyond what anyone else I was training with was doing. But at 28 with a desk job, if I'm left to my own devices I'm lucky if I get to the gym five times a month without someone else making me feel like an asshole for not going. Picking up TKD, while expensive (not to mention pretty much useless in a real fight) is giving me a much higher value than my gym membership ever has.
I've watched the regular personal trainers at my gym and there is zero chance I'd ever pay one of those dick farmers to 'train' me. Their clients almost never break a sweat, and frankly, it often looks more like gossip time than bust ass time.
I agree on some level about the motivation, Frank. But that's not what I need right now. I'm at the gym every morning, Monday to Friday. I just feel like I'm not kicking my ass as hard as WODs would be kicking my ass.
I had a trainer once a week for a month or two a couple of years past and it was awesome. I mostly wanted to break from a rut and told him to push me harder than I ever would myself. It was awesome, the plan was for me to keep it up on my own, but guess what. Yep back to the same routine. Based on that, I would probably respond well to a crossfit type of gym, huh?
