Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 He looks like he is continually receiving a mildly uncomfortable rectal exam.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 Your assignment: Create a story using the following three words. Pimptress, stripper, and vibrator.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 LONG WEEKEND BABY. Let's officially start this:
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 All this reproduction trouble. I'm glad someone got it right. With video goodness: http://rollingout.com/culture/man-with- ... -11-women/ Dude is like Abraham. Or Solomon. A really poor, unwise Solomon.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 I always thought condoms were supposed to be a snug fit. I always bought mine in the boys department. I've said too much.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 Holy shit, Amazon - ordered yesterday, sent out for delivery this morning, should be in my hot little hands by the time I get home from work today. Sweeeeeeeet.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 I love when the this thread turns into spam-the-pages-with-music-videos-that-nobody-will-actually-watch.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 This total lack of self-awareness in people like this never ceases to amaze me. Why hasn't someone put a stop to this man?
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 Pussy videos will always fly. Unrelated... I'm desperate for some book suggestions. Almost done with what I'm reading right now and I am devouring my to-read list faster than I can find books that interest me. Don't say Fifty Shades of Grey! I have it loaded on my Kindle, but I can't bring myself to actually read it. Spoiler
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 I prefer the word bitch. But I'll settle for grinch.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 Satan Burger by Carlton Mellick III NSFW God closes the gates of heaven and opens up an inter-dimensional portal that releases human devouring creatures. Satan, who is gay, has opened up a fast food restaurant that only accepts your soul as currency. Jesus is his fat janitor. A bunch of Portland punks (including a guy named after his parents' favorite booze) try to close the vagina looking portal. It sounds retarded, but it is one of the most clever anti-novels written. It borrows heavily from Gnostic beliefs and Christian mysticism. It's a huge F U to boring literature. Hilarious too. Shit, I think I'm going to re-read it, been years. Mellick also wrote a children's book called The Faggiest Vampire
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 Do you have a genre you tend to prefer? Fiction: Most things by Orson Scott Card are worth reading. Pastwatch and Enchantment are particularly good, as is Ender's Game but that's probably his most well known book. Non-Fiction: 1491. It's a book about pre-Columbian societies in North and South America. Fascinating stuff. I'll have more based on genre, don't want to deluge you with sci-fi choices, for example, if you hate them.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 I don't hate them and I don't have any one preference for genre. I'll read almost anything, on a recommendation. I like reading out of my comfort zone.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 We have a book thread, folks... Just pointing that out... I'm so pumped for this weekend. I am hitting the links after maaaaaaany months of not golfing. My back swing is going to be a piece of crap and I suspect many balls shall be shanked.
Re: Thursday Drunk Thread, 'Cause I Do What I Want! 5/17/12 Fair enough. Spoilered for length. Spoiler In that case, almost anything by Card, as I mentioned before. He's a very good writer, both fantasy and sci-fi. His style is very very similar to grand old masters of sci-fi like Heinlein, Niven, or Asimov so sometimes that can be offputting if those are not your cup of tea. Enchantment - The story of a young linguistic scholar and his journey into Russia's past and how it created some of our modern myths. Pastwatch - In the future humanity discovers how to view the past and they look at Cristopher Columbus. Then they think about whether they can go back in time, not just view it. The Tales of Alvin maker - I am several books into this series and it's intriguing. Set in an alternate version of the early 1800s where most people have a minor magical talent, a "knack" and American history has gone a different way. It's the kind of series where the more you know of the real history of the founding of America, Napoleon, and Indian relations the better the books are as you note the differences. Anywhere Tomorrow by Jonathan Taylor - A private corporation invents a gravitic drive that lets them send a private expedition to Mars and beyond. The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher - Long series of books in which a wizard living in Chicago tries to make a living as a private investigator while the mystical world devolves into chaos and politics. Each book builds on the previous, but has its own story. Each one is meant to be read fairly quickly and the whole thing is driving towards one big arc as well. Codex Alera, also by Jim Butcher - A six book fantasy series about a boy named Tavi who is born without the magical talents that every other human on his world possesses. Stories of Your Life and Others by ted Chiang - A series of short stories that are usually based on some kind of odd premise. Really good writing and amazing twists. Sometimes unsettling. As you can tell, I read mostly sci-fi or fantasy fiction. Another non-fiction book is American Lion. It's a biography of Andrew "more badass than you" Jackson. Also, see the book thread for a ton more.
