So does anyone want to weigh-in on the new "Inflation Reduction Bill" that's making it's way through Congress?

On one hand it sounds good (making the wealthy pay more taxes), but on the other hand, I'm afraid that they won't see the ROI that they hoped for, and they'll just start auditing people trying to declare a home office.

Sure - I don't understand which part of it is meant to reduce inflation. I'm assuming it's named that way to make the average idiot voter think they are doing something. As far as I can tell, it's an environmental and healthcare bill, primarily.

It's the part where Manchin used inflation as an excuse not to do a climate bill months ago, and when he asked "how am I supposed to support a climate bill now?" Schumer cleverly responded "what if we call it an inflation reduction bill and call it a day?"

It's a climate bill we desperately needed, and inflation is probably going to handle itself through the Fed and the broader market ramping back up after COVID fucked up all the supply lines for a few years.

That makes sense and is kind of funny, but seems like it creates a huge political liability. That aside, the Fed can basically raise interest rates as the only useful tool in their arsenal. As far as supply chains, those are basically fucked forever and will never return to what they were pre-2019.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/09/trump-world-republicans-fbi-2024-run-00050485

Trump sensing the investigative noose is tightening will declare he is running for President in 2024, allowing him to paint any investigation as political interference, despite many of these investigations being in their 2nd or 3rd year already. He will do this relatively soon, because if he's indicted it can prevent or at least complicate him getting on the ballot.

DeSantis cried that no one told him about an FBI raid (for fucks fucking sakes), and Lindsey Graham of all the cock suckers on earth said: “President Trump is likely going to run again in 2024,” Graham wrote. “No one is above the law. The law must be above politics.”

i hope he does run. I’d love nothing more than to watch the fireworks as he burns the GOP to the ground.

actually surprised they aren’t happy that his house got raided. Since taking classified material from the WH would prevent him from running again, it would get the orange monkey off their backs

But they’ve surely been using him to get what they want so I can’t help but think some of the shit recovered will expose members of the GOP as well.

I think they thought they could control that exposure and gain from his base but that control may have been an illusion.

They are using this as a prop to ask for donations.

A billionaire. Is asking for donations because the FBI came to his house and took the public property that didn't belong to him.

    You cannot make this dumber.

The bolded part is completely untrue. US code does not overrule the constitution. The constitution has very clear guidelines of what requirements there are to run for president and what disqualifies you. This would get thrown out of any court if challenged.

    I stand corrected.

Even better: the current FBI director is a Trump appointee.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2022/...w-york-attorney-general-on-wednesday-00050784

    Trump pleads the 5th.

"The former president’s meeting on Wednesday comes just days after the attorney general’s office questioned Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, both of whom did not plead the Fifth. James’ office has said that it uncovered “significant evidence” that the Trump Organization fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented them to mislead financial institutions. But Trump has denied any wrongdoing and claimed the investigation is politically motivated."

So, there's the federal investigation, the NY state investigation and the Manhattan DA investigation....I mean, if you come at the king, you better not miss....Unless he literally refuses to answer questions because doing so would mean he'd self-incriminate. After one of his kids supposedly invoked the 5th 200 fucking times in an earlier deposition.
