Pleading the 5th should never be an admission of guilt, and is (basically) always the correct answer. Procedural cops shows have given brain poisoning to everyone regarding it. If you haven't seen these videos about why you should not talk to the police and always exercise your 5th amendment rights, you need to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-7o9xYp7eE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIt-l2YmH8M
True, but Trump also said “if you’re innocent, why would you plead the 5th? That’s what the mafia does.” So now he makes one of his weak off-twitter statements saying “I used to think pleading the 5th meant you’re guilty, but not anymore because BIGGEST ELECTION FRAUD IN HISTORY RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA LAMESTREAM SLEEPY JOE DONATE MONEY BIG THINGS HAPPENING SOON MAKE AMERICA WIN GREAT BIGLY”
Statement was pretty boilerplate. Confirmed search warrant was executed at Trump's residence, confirmed that Trump's attorney was present and a receipt of seized materials was provided. Added that he personally approved the application for the warrant, and that the department did not make the decision lightly. Also chastised the conspiracy theories against the FBI.
Guess you were day dreaming. His actual statement was about as pointless as any press conference I’ve ever watched.
I'm not sure what you expected. He's bound by a number of laws, department policies, and ethical obligations. The point of the press conference was to tamp down a few of the conspiracy theories Republicans have been floating on Fox "FBI went rogue" ~ Steve Scalise "No, the FBI did not go rogue, I personally approved the warrant application" ~ Garland "They hid everything from my lawyers" ~ Trump "Trump's lawyers were on premises" ~ Garland "They're going to plant evidence" ~ Rand Paul "A receipt of items seized was provided, as the law requires" ~ Garland "The FBI is trumping things up in order to harass Trump" "This decision was not made lightly and was done after lesser intrusive methods were found inadequate" ~ Garland Probably wouldn't be hugely successful because MAGA folks believe what they want, but at least it'll cut down on the reckless speculation from the mainstream media types.
Considering the damage James Comey did to the FBI’s reputation, it would be in the best interest of the DOJ to lay out all the relevant details quickly and publicly. Obviously they shouldn’t put their investigation at risk in doing so, but it needs to be done as soon as reasonably possible.
Shooter in Cincinnati confirmed to be Ricky Shiffer, who was present on Jan 6 and whose internet history is, uh, "interesting." He dead.
So, like circling back to that whole "we are all domestic terrorists" thing... That's starting to feel a bit too real....
so the dude had a nail gun and was shooting it at the building, then when confronted, pointed his AR at the police. Was he trying to be some martyr? This can't be a regular suicide by cop
Excuse me fucking what: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/fb...earch-trumps-home-washington-post-2022-08-12/
The actual Post article was really weird. “Experts in classified information…” Right. I’ll wait until the DOJ actually releases the details.
