I can’t really tell. The Kansas abortion thing was kind of surprising to me. But the polling right now would indicate that the gop is slated to take back the house. I also know that the media has a vested interest in the horse race narrative of elections. So I really have no clue what to expect. I’m considering waiting to vote until the actual Election Day because I don't trust our elected officials to not try and fuck with the early votes somehow. Early votes always lean heavily Democratic.

If they're going to fuck with votes, what difference would it make what day it was?

I'm voting early, and encouraging everyone else to do so.

I dropped my ballot off yesterday. There were no weirdos with covered faces/license plates and tactical gear asking if I was a "mule." Blue states are so boring.

Because in some places they can’t count early or absentee votes until after the voting day votes are counted. Last election, the republicans used this very policy to try and sow doubt about the validity of all these “late night vote dumps” that just so happen to lean dem. Casually ignoring the fact that these are rules they created regarding when certain votes get counted.

I am voting absentee and SC made it a fucking mockery. I have to call, request an application, mail it back, then mail the ballot.

It's almost like the Republicans in charge try to do everything they can to discourage voting.

When you call, they emphasize "YOU CANNOT REQUEST A BALLOT ONLINE". You have to call or show up, which...bitch, if I could show up, you think I'd vote absentee?

Also, the ballot must be mailed to the same address as on the application, which for me is a hotel. Here's hoping the sumbitch arrives in the next few days, because God only knows how long it takes to process applications at the county office, with the crack squad of two high school dropouts who type one finger at a time they have working there (NOT A JOKE).

It's fucking absurd how shitty Republican "governance" has become....that and the whole "you get a higher penalty for overseeing an abortion than if you actually rape someone."

    Fuck these fucking fucks.

In the 2016 election, I voted absentee for the first time. 6 months before the election, we mentioned to my partner's parents that we were going to contact the town hall, and got laughed at for starting so early.

The dickhead in the town hall caused so many starts and stops and forced us to jump through so many hoops that our ballots were dropped off about 3 hours before voting closed. After talking to a number of other people, it seems that the town hall clerk (a staunch and outspoken Trumper and now an "election denier" or whatever) was subtly making registered Democrats have a harder time getting their ballots than registered Republicans. Not blocking anything outright, just, you know, not sending stuff out on time, misplacing this or that, conveniently forgetting that he'd ever talked to you...

Meanwhile here in commie California I received a ballot in the mail because I registered for permanent vote by mail a few elections ago. It came with a sample ballot and a voter guide in case I needed practice, as well as an "I voted" sticker to make me feel good. I filled it out at my convenience, and then checked for ballot drop off locations. I can mail it back, or there are dedicated drop boxes nearby (at the local library, a few public parks, etc), so I picked one at a park I was biking past this weekend anyway. Two days later I got an email from the state board of elections confirming that my ballot had been received and counted.

And then at the end of the email, it said “Hey kid, you want fifty more? HEE-HAWWW!!”

I enjoy the pageantry of showing up to a polling place and doing the whole process manually. Plus, I get a sticker I can virtue signal about on social media.

Last election I dropped my mail-in ballot off at the polling place on election day. I had one sticker that came with the ballot, and they gave me a second sticker at the polling place. Dinesh D'Souza then included me in his movie as proof of voter fraud.

Anyone watch the Fetterman/ Oz debate?

I watched the first 15 minutes or so, and it didn't look good for Fetterman.

    He should have declined.

I caught some clips. Fetterman wasn't exactly eloquent, but really all he needed to prove was that his brain was functioning at even a basic level. Oz also didn't do himself any favors by handing the Fetterman camp that "women, doctors, local political leaders" soundbite.

This is the first debate where the gay porn parody version will be better than what was aired. FFS, both of these guys look like Batman villains on different ends of the spectrum.

Fetterman's eloquence isn't exactly his selling point, and God, do I hope he wins.

A junk science doctor vs. a guy who can’t understand the words spoken to him. Best of luck, Pennsylvania.

I thought Conner Lamb had a better chance in the general election than Fetterman; certainly against someone like Oz, but as is usual the more center a candidate, the worse they do in the primary

Update: one of the people handling absentee ballots gave me the wrong instructions, and they mailed the ballot to my moms house...

Based on my drive through Northern to Central PA a couple weeks ago, Oz has nothing to worry about. There were signs everywhere for that snake oil salesman.
