Every single senator has second career prospects. No matter how reprehensible they are, someone on their side of the aisle will hire them for name recognition or for their contacts.
Ghoulish making this into tabloid/twitter fodder. There was a Mexican lady at my work whose teenage daughter tried cutting her wrists a few weeks back because of school bullying. Terrible stuff for kids this young. The guidance counselors at my high school were next to useless for mental health issues.
I feel like we forget that the guidance counselor's job is to register you for classes and gently break the news if you're too dumb to go to college. Expecting them to solve trauma and suicidal ideation is so above their pay grade.
Why would anyone need exit ops? They can just trade on inside info and can get rich with zero accountability.
No I know it historically hasn’t been but with more awareness around mental health they’d be in a unique position to help normalize talking to counselors for emotional issues. They’d need a pay bump in my mind. Funny you mention it as mine told my mom I wasn’t college material and this flipped my mom out something fierce. Truth be told she was absolutely right at the time. I was an uninterested C student that had no college ambition in high school. I even asked my mom to take a year off as I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. She refused. I’m glad too as I’d have just drank and smoked and tried to get laid at the shithouse restaurants I worked at (probably until this day if it was up to me). I got my shit together and became a half decent student in college.
Ted Cruz started the false gay claims about Paul Pelosi, so this “respect him in these times” shit goes right in the garbage. His daughter deserves help and is a victim, he is fucking swine and deserves to be miserable.
God she is just the worst: https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/09/politics/kyrsten-sinema-leaves-democratic-party/index.html
To be fair, she wasn't a real Democrat. There's a fair amount of speculation that she's a Republican plant.
I don't think it's anything as coordinated as that, I think she's just a massive narcissist who is 100% for sale to whatever lobbyist cuts the biggest check.
I’ve said that from the start. Ignored her constituents, wrecked it from the inside, and bailed on the cheque. This was as predicable as it gets.
My statement was relative an adjusted Senatorial baseline. Even among that crowd she stands out as thinking she's the main character. Also everyone hates her. That's not hyperbole, that's polling: Spoiler
My immediate reaction was “Who paid her to switch?” She has now turned her back on Democrat financial support for any upcoming elections, so if she runs again a list of her donors will tell us all we need to know.
She's basically hostage-taking. She knows that the Democrats are going to primary her in the next cycle because she's despised by both the party's brass and the party's voters. So this move is her saying "I'll force it to be a three-way race and you'll lose the seat to the Republicans if you run someone against me."
The 2024 Senate map is BRUTAL for the Democrats, and her seat has to be flippable. Given the map, the math and her popularity, I don't think she could raise much in the way of funding via the standard Democratic machinery. This move could be more about splitting the ticket, and baiting Republican donors to pay her to ensure a GOP win, and doing so for pennies on the dollar as compared to other swing states. She has to know this is a scorched bridge with the Democrats. Also, aren't the campaign finance laws a bit different for independents vs. party machine? We may not get as good a look at her donors as we'd like. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_Senate_elections
This has nothing to do with real meaningful politics, but is exactly the kind of messy-bitch drama I'm going to miss most when Twitter finally collapses under the weight of its own shittiness: https://twitter.com/christianwalk1r/status/1602137256860725248
