https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...non-donald-trump-war-south-china-sea-no-doubt I still can't believe people were dumb enough to believe this "Hillary will start WW3, Trump is a peaceful dove" shit. Even if you do believe that conflict with China is inevitable, why in the hell are you pissing off Europe, Australia, Japan, and every potential ally we have in that conflict?
He's less than two weeks in and a District Court is already on the verge of declaring him in contempt of court: https://ia601507.us.archive.org/13/items/gov.uscourts.vaed.358386/gov.uscourts.vaed.358386.19.0.pdf
From the New York Times on November 15th, 2016 From the New York Times on Februrary 1st, 2017 Before, you get all "well, that's just a random loon in the house without much influence on anything." This is beyond fucked up. These are the views circulating in the highest offices of government. Hell, our national security advisor Michael Flynn tweeted out a link to this video: Fear of Muslims is RATIONAL Our President has said at various points that he wanted a Muslim travel/immigration ban; he has said torture works and he would go further than waterboarding; he has said we should kill the families of terrorists; he has said he is open to the idea of a Muslim registry. Seriously: how does Trump respond to a terrorist attack by a Muslim? He can't even get through a phone call with one of our main allies [Australia this time] without going off the rails, so what happens when his base starts looking to him for a strong response to something like a terrorist attack? Fuck his base. How does this man fend off the ideas of his own advisers?
I brought up towards the end of the campaign that I suspected the internet/youtube Berniecrats were going to break off and do their own thing. They did and they're calling it Justice Democrats. The platform is so far left, but I do like it better than the establishment and it would be nice to have an alternative. TYT is involved, which makes me sad, but a lot of the other founders are much more level headed. I'm sure the smart money would be on this accomplishing nothing, but it's better than throwing a tantrum every time Trump sneezes. So far they've raised over $300k, which is decent considering they're only a week old. Maybe I'll set a bit of my money on fire and donate at the midterms. Maybe.
On a lighter political note, this man, wants to license all bicycle users in the city of Minneapolis who use city bike lanes. He wants them to be required to take basically a drivers ed course, and be fined if they aren't following the rules he so elegantly set out in his bill. He wants every cyclist to be registered with a license and if they don't have a license they will be fined and I guess have their bike taken away?
Ironic how he ran on a platform of smaller government, and big surprise there are ZERO bike lanes in that dipshit's town... probably his entire district.
So am I missing something here or is this a really bad idea. http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/02/politics/house-vote-guns-mental-illnesses/index.html In all the talk of gun control, one thing that came up was, the rules that are in place should be enforced. Well, it looks like one of those important rules won't be around much longer.
This doesn't catch my attention because I'm worried about mass shootings, this catches my attention because for men, firearms are the number one way by which suicide is committed. Give seriously ill people guns, mass shootings aren't likely to happen but more suicides are.
Oh, please. That has "personal" written all over it. Anybody who would hate on cyclists that much obviously has a vendetta. That list of laws is Category-5 retarded. I'm not a cyclist, I've mountain bike a little off-road, but nobody needs a license for that. They're not a car. I taught my daughter to ride one in two hours. They should obey the rules of the road of course, but we already know that. Isn't imposing your personal beliefs on the will of the people a violation of your 1st amendment? Because there's absolutely no way that this isn't personal. Cycling/biking of many forms is something that has always been popular, and ever increases in popularity year by year. Cities that have the space for it should be littered with paths and lanes, it really does make things better for all.
Yeah I am just talking in general, this is a bad policy decision. Mass shootings aside, your point about suicides is sobering.
Quam is a fat blowhard who is the only author on that bill. If it gets heard by a committee I will literally shit myself
You guys are aware about my mental health battles. I am not against a law that stats that anyone who has been declared a potential danger to their own person as according to a therapist/psychiatrist is not allowed to buy a firearm. But hey fuck me that infringes on peoples rights I guess? Edited: Aetius, I thought you were referring to something much different
