https://www.politico.com/news/magaz...ting-rules-for-white-house-officials-00158687 This is going to get raw, too. We're already getting Hatch Act notices at work, and given that a core tenet of Trump's platform is fucking treason, it's pretty testy. I agree with closing this loop, but enhancing enforcement of Hatch Act is going to hit some folks hard.
Spoiler: Not great At this point I can't tell if the Trump campaign is deliberately dogwhistling to racists, or if they're so steeped in radical right-wing bubbles that they don't even realize the memes they're jacking for campaign material are made by actual nazis and may contain little easter eggs like the one above.
Not defending Trump or his campaign, but it was just some random guy who made that, and apparently Trump shared it on his Myspace page or whatever. For all we know, the creator is actually an anti-Trumper who was hoping that this exact scenario would play out.
But that's kind of my point. When the Trump campaign goes to make campaign videos, they frequently grab memes that are being shared in the pro-Trump community and stick them in the video. And it seems like they don't appreciate that they're so far down the rabbit hole, that the "normies" they're grabbing memes from are actual avowed nazis. They've been bathing in this stew for so long they don't realize how aberrant it is.
No, I'm pretty sure that they know exactly what they're doing. How does the saying go? "Trump didn't make America racist, he just made the racists feel comfortable speaking their minds."
Something did it and it sucks to watch. I saw a video of cruise ship pool. It was mostly black people... just vacationing. The comments were disgusting. "Hell on earth." "Section 8 cruise." "That’s why I don't go on cheap cruises, it's a higher class crowd. "USS black and mild" "I bet it stinks there"
Unfortunately, I assume sentencing comes next? And, then unfortunately, I assume he'll be able to appeal like everyone else that gets convicted of something? I think the question is, what will it take to make him go away and not be on the ballot this Fall?
Sentencing happens on July 11. It's insane that nothing prevents a convicted felon from running for president in the USA.
It makes sense, because otherwise you're giving either the current federal government, or even a single state, the power to eliminate a choice for President, which they would almost certainly abuse if it existed. The solution is supposed to be that the voters don't vote for a fucking criminal, but we see, yet again, that the Founders overestimated us.
And, overestimated the Candidates. The convicted felon is leading polls against the incumbent President. How do we make them both go away, and put two other candidates on the ballot this Fall?
Color me genuinely surprised. The appeal process will drag out for months, and again...on January 21st, 2025 we will stop giving a shit one way or another. The most likely scenario is a fine, at the end of a lengthy appeals process Also, no gag order so Trump can let his mouth continue to write checks his supporters and donors will have to fundraise to cash. I would imagine there will be some doxing-esque information that might get him in trouble, and we get to see the dumbest shit ever: someone run their mouth about the judge in the news BEFORE sentencing. He will likely see more money go to E. Jean Carrol because he can't shut the fuck up. The "Trump in court" drama is basically going to be the show we watch until he dies. He might be the first person in history to spend $1b+ in legal fees, and still lose. Like...think about how long some of these cases will drag out, and the entire time he's got lawyers burning up cash. If you consider a burn rate of $50m/year, and some of this shit won't be done for 5 years, and it hasn't even peaked yet... In the meantime, it just ramps up the chaos and threats of violence. It also ramps up the rhetoric of Trump as a martyr...we will probably see some big money roll out to support him soon. I bet Stormy Daniel's pussy is emitting top-tier champagne right now. Also, I'm curious about how Fox News covers this. They've been coy, if not outright cagey with Trump, and with another case against their election lies still pending, I can imagine the settlements grow larger if they continue to foment the election lies, and those are the court cases that y'know...might determine the fate of democracy. https://www.mediaite.com/trump/just...ould-america-buy-a-n-winning-and-its-on-tape/ This verdict might make it open season on Trump, if for no other reason than it was clearly and publicly demonstrated what Stormy Daniels got paid, and anyone with a similar story who didn't get a check...
