Political considerations aside, is anyone else just embarrassed as an American? We talk up the 2nd Amendment constantly, crow about how it's necessary to fight an oppressive government, and brag about the insane armory of precision manufactured weapons we're allowed to own. And our assassins can't even maim a President, much less kill him. Meanwhile some Japanese dude built his own blunderbuss out of scraps like an anime Tony Stark and managed to take out their former PM in one shot. We used to be a proper country.
The only situation where I see the blustery redneck actually kick something off is if he’s killed. Somehow this arch demon of the left didn’t plunge us into internment camps and killing fields and all the other sky is falling pablum. He gets killed I think all bets are off.
gravy seals didn't get enough target practice apparently. Would not be shocked at all if the shooter was some 2A twat who was pissed off about trump's incursions on the 2A and decided to fight that oppressive government himself
That was seriously wild. I still don't understand the motivation of the shooter killing an ex-PM because his mother donated money to a church.
So you didn’t get your way through the courts and political assassinations are on the table? Certainly sound like the fascist you pretend to hate.
I don’t know where else you guys are think you’re heading. The gun violence, the bullshit media pushing an insane political identity confrontation, a never ending and always escalating left vs right… what do you think is going to happen? calm intelligent discourse? I mean, it’s not
similar to nett, I'm not saying I condone it. I just wouldn't be disappointed if it happened. I can also understand a world in which people in like Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and such see this and are like "but... isn't that what you did to our leaders?"
I was hoping the Democrats could eke out enough consecutive 51-49 victories that demographics would clear out enough Baby Boomers to bring us out of the danger zone. But then Biden glitched out at the debate and now here we are.
This is a great time for America. The former president was shot at, people are upset he’s not dead, nobody at all is going to believe any details we find out about it.
I don’t mean this conspiratorially, but…if I was in that rally and heard that, I’d be running for my life at first pop. Everybody just kinda stands there and grabs their phones.
I’m not sure what endearing qualities he is supposed to have that we’re supposed to give a shit about him? The whole Jan 6th debacle / insurrection bullshit is pretty hard to ignore, never mind the other crap.
Because people freeze up in those situations unless they've been heavily trained to not do that. When I was an EMT, part of the training was learning how to deal with bystanders in emergency situations.
I mean, if I was going to get into the argument, I’d frame it more as “if Trump and a dog were both stuck on an icy lake…”
1) trump voters aren't the smartest people 2) everyone reacts differently in traumatic/unexpected situations like that. During the LV shooting, a lot of bystanders and even victims reported that they thought it was fireworks. No one thinks it's a shooting you see that first body. As I just told my wife, this is gonna inspire a TON of copycat shit. People are gonna see this, with all the security (theater, sometimes), all the guns and military and protection and someone is still taking pop shots. And they're gonna see that it is possible. And they're gonna try it themselves. Maybe on him, maybe on someone else. If I was putin, I'd just go into hiding.
