Why? It's a shit dying job(due in large part to automation) that gives some of the worst lung problems imaginable and can be easily remedied by a switch to different energy types like wind farming and getting government granted education into those fields(this was a big thing in Hillary's whole thing back in the day*), but they turned it down and stayed with their shit because a lot of oil and coal tycoons convinced these people they were on their side and they were on their side and that the jobs would come back if only they were allowed to dig up and destroy a few more thousand acres of forest land to claw it out more. * A big reason the left shits on these people is because they were given one of the absolute easiest fucking outs of their bad situations to improve their lives and they spat on it amd turned their backs on it so yeah, my sympathy is in the nagatives for them.
Constantly talking down to people and their dedication to their livelihood, no matter how much you think they should learn to code, comes off as arrogant and elitist. For the side that created and championed identity politics not to see that is, well, interesting.

Yes thanks for your grand insight Elon, but these were people that were given EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE OUT of their economic black hole that's consumed their lives and shattered their communities to pieces and spat on it. They were offered opportunities that people of my gen(35+) and those that came after are NEVER going to be in positions to have and turned it down because "mah coal job" and being "pinky promised" by a bunch of tycoon assholes that they convinced were no different than they were that the jobs were coming back just as soon as we get rid of that pesky regulations stuff. These are also the same people who like to talk and brag about "pullin yourself up by them bootstraps" and other bullshit platitudes that they don't actually believe.
Since "Coal Miner's Daughter" was not only one of her biggest hits, but also the name of her memoir, the joke can stand.
