I think it's more about approval ratings. Shaprio is +25 in PA, whereas Walz is only +14 in Minnesota, which is a much more Democratic leaning state. Beshear is crushing it at +39, but he's not from a swing state, and isn't known to swing state voters the way Shapiro is. Whitmer is +20 in Michigan, and doesn't have any of Shapiro's baggage, but alas, can't have two many vaginas on a Presidential ticket.
Bear is actually good I’m told. Particularly if they have been feeding on blueberries and raspberries. Bears feeding on salmon in Alaska supposedly tastes horrible. I’ve heard settlers actually preferred it to deer. Hunters don’t really stick with the norms of characteristic megafauna. I’ve heard a number of hunters claiming mountain lion meat is surprisingly good.
I’ve eaten black bear. My friends uncle hunted it locally (as opposed to finding it in Central Park). They cut it into chunks, smothered it in a rub and cooked it on a grill so the fat would drip out. I thought it was outstanding.
I’ve had good bear, and bad bear. It’s all about what it grew up eating and how it was prepared. A dump fed bear taste like garbage. Literally. A fruit and berry fed bear is fruity. Cook it low and slow and braise it so that it’s nice and tender, otherwise it turns to shoe leather in a hurry.
I've had bear about 20 times and maybe enjoyed it 1 or 2 times... hard pass. It's just a shitty animal to eat.
Yeah. I don’t go out of my way to have it. Usually only at a pot luck game night with my old hunting buddies where we bring in a variety of game meat done in different ways.
So do all “local” pigs that come in contact with wildlife. Trichinella is actually killed at 145. USDA lowered the internal temperature of pork steaks to that a number of years ago because 165 was overkill for pork steaks. Looking at the news a recent outbreak happened because they cooked it rare and then cross contaminated a bunch of vegetables.
Same. They served it at the wild game dinner I used to go to every year. The only animal that was worse was wild beaver meat. Horrible.
