Don't jinx it; that's what they said in 2016.

Do you remember when people were saying that The Deep State or whoever had already decided that Hillary was going to "win," and that Trump was just there to give the illusion of choice, because he seemed like such an incompetent buffoon?

    Look where we are now.

Trump isn't going anywhere. He has a rich, cushy lifestyle surrounded by sycophants in the US. He's terrified of change. No way he leaves, in my opinion.

He'll rage and scream on Truth Social and to whatever audiences will listen about how the election results are a sham, it was stolen from him, etc.

Yes but if he is facing actual prison and additional trials and possible other charges, I don’t see him sticking around for that.

Even if he wanted to, the US would never let him. He's a convicted criminal in the state of New York, and under indictment in Georgia and Federally. The conditions of his sentence(s) and/or bail would never let him leave the country. Secondarily, he's a massive national security risk. As President he had access to everything, and the US would sooner kill him than allow him to fall into the hands of an adversary like that.

The issue with Trump has consistently been enforcement. If the MAGA movement disintegrates after an electoral loss (and that would hinge on a LOT of GOP candidates failing hard), the ahem...reluctance to shield him from accountability may shift, and he'd not be permitted to leave the country, just like any other felon. If there's still a sizeable MAGA contingent in the House/Senate, he'll generally do as he pleases, consequences and risks be damned. The court cases will keep him stateside for a while, but ultimately, if he goes to Epstein island or whatever, the decision to prosecute him will have to come from within DOJ, and they'll need political air coverage.

It feels very stupid to point this out: killing him is not an option. Aside from his obvious health risks and age, and the unthinkable notion of murdering a US president, former or not, it'd turn him into a martyr, and ensure the MAGA movement continues on, but with even more zealotry and vitriol.

Trump's momentum has shifted and he's on his heels. It'll be another week or so for that to sink in, because the polls will forever be close. Right now, in the swing states, if you account for the margin of error, he's not far behind, only 2-3 points. After Labor Day, however, he'll see the donors start to shrink and his burn rate increase, and he'll get increasingly desperate. He's definitely looking at manipulating the process, ie, fucking with the electors, SC cases, etc. He knows he's going to lose the popular vote, he's hopeful he can lose in such a way that it winds up in front of the SC again (a la the 2000 election).

This is what scares me: The democrats are celebrating with Beyonce, instead of preparing for a legal nightmare. The election security boogieman should be working to scare them, as the last time was FAR closer than it should have been.

I give it even odds that Trump axes JD Vance, and opts for another VP candidate. It'll give him an ability to retool, throwing Vance under the bus to donors might get him some breathing room, and the establishment would want to push someone they can get behind in the event of a Trump impeachment, not another insurance policy. Someone has to go under the wheels, and if it's not Vance, it might be a campaign manager or senior advisor.

You don't know that... you have zero information on they are or aren't doing out of public view. They can very easily do both, and with everyone in their corner (Obamama, etc), you better believe they are thinking through what-if scenarios and planning for contingencies.

Eh...Maybe. I hope your'e right. However, the ideal time to deal with electoral security was 3-4 years ago, and state governments have gone apeshit revamping their electoral policies, laws, etc. I'm seeing this firsthand just trying to get an absentee ballot. Trump's desperation is something that the Democrats simply do not reckon with, because they don't know how.

I'm not so sure about that... just because they don't want to, doesn't mean that they don't know how.

I think we're seeing a new Democratic party with how they're finally going head-on with Trump and calling him out on his shit to his face.

I'm optimistic that they are also changing their approach elsewhere as well, not just their social media and messaging.

There's much more of a "fuck you" undertone going on right now, and people are liking it.

I don't think it will come to that, because it's far easier for the President to just order the Secret Service to block him from getting on a plane, but, in the event it became necessary, I don't think the agencies who carry out this kind of work would have any qualms about doing it. A former President in the hands of the Russians/Chinese/whoever would be the intelligence coup of the century. It would compromise every aspect of American national security. Our nuclear weapons, our classified military technology, our intended strategies, our intelligence networks, our communications. All of it. They would absolutely kill him before they allowed that kind of breach. The only question is whether they'd declare him a traitor, kill him openly, and dare MAGA to do anything about it, or pull a "wow, he choked to death on a cheeseburger. That's crazy."

The only thing I know for sure is that Obama can still give one hell of a speech. Holy hell is he an impressive orator.

The fact that he was that classy and yet still made a "Trump has a small dick" joke was both hilarious and impressive.
