How did we get to the point shots fired at a presidential candidate is just fodder for jokes? Never have and never will vote for the man and completely understand the dislike. But it’s gotten to where it’s ok to just joke about it because fuck the orange guy. It makes me sad. I said the same thing when people wanted to destroy Obama. How’d we become so divided? In a perfect world we all want what’s best for everyone and just have different ideas on how to accomplish that.
I mean, I’m sure it goes back a ways. But you can start by looking at JD Vance’s appearance on cnn this morning where he admitted to making up the whole Haitians eating pets thing which has resulted in death threats on the Haitian community in Ohio. He said he is fine with creating a story in order to place blame on Harris for the immigration issue in Ohio. Which actually happened during Trump’s presidency.
We've never had a candidate for president in my lifetime who consistently encourages violence like that POS. And I sincerely believe he's a threat to our democracy. I don't want him shot but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it happening.
He (and the Republicans) did it to himself. He's the most polarizing president in any of our lifetimes*. He's constantly in the news, antagonizing people. He has been committing crimes in full view of the public, AND HE'S GETTING AWAY WITH IT WITH CROOKED JUDGES THAT HE APPOINTED. When that fat fuck dies, I'm going to celebrate, and they better bury him at sea, because any grave for him will be vandalized to all Hell. If I never see his orange face, or hear his grating voice again, it will be too soon. *Remember back when people said that Bush Jr. was the worst/ dumbest president ever? Remember when people said Obama was the worst president ever because "black"? I don't think we realized how good we had it back then.
FYI, The only shots fired were by the Secret Service when they spotted the suspect with the AK along the fence.
But we can just vote. I do not understand the vitriol when there is a system in place to decide who’s the president. I understand this comes off as pro Trump but he got the votes and is on the ballot. Do you seriously not understand this has happened with virtually every president ever? I was born in 1985 and have never seen a president not do this.
Looks like the shooter's ID leaked. Seems like a 58 year old white man, big nutter, previously arrested for barricading himself in a building with a gun back in 2002 (sure is great that we let insane criminals continue to own guns). Supported Trump in 2016, but became disillusioned by 2020, at which point he seemed to be a fan of Tulsi Gabbard. Seems to have supported Democrats since that point. Definitely not all there, as he's a big anti-vaxxer, went to Romania to recruit soldiers to fight in Ukraine, and claimed to have thousands of Afghani soldiers ready to deploy as cops to Haiti? Definitely a few monkeys short of a barrel.
