I used to, until very recently. We just pulled our kid out of public school, so that did away with most of my weekly driving. It was 88 miles a day to drop him off and pick him up. My driving was going to increase to about 120 miles a day next year when he moved to the middle school.
Extra cash and zero interest rates were a driver with the constricted new car supply. I said a driver not the sole driver. Again everyone is avoiding my point. The YoU KiLlED DeMoCraCy fOr eGgs! Is a blindingly simple view of something that the blue collar base, and middle class for that matter, was feeling the pinch on much harder than “egg” prices suggest. Still not listening and still talking down to the people that for decades were a solid voting base. Jesus they were spelling the end of the Republican Party in 2012, it was going to be a regional party with no ability to have any policy on a national level.
You said they were a "big reason." You appear to have nothing to substantiate it and I have a hard time buying that the relatively small stimulus checks caused such a ripple effect on very high priced goods like new cars and houses, and I'm not finding anything to back that up. If the $5k car market went wild, well okay. But that's not what happened. And hey, you said it. If you want to make a big claim and have nothing to support it, deflecting with, "...but you're ignoring my point" when someone calls it out is just disingenuous. If you're very interested in driving a specific point, making up supporting evidence and getting mired in the subsequent discussion is the fault of the person who over-stated the evidence, not the person who questioned it.
Personally, my stimmy checks went towards higher grocery bills and bills related to having a newborn. And I couldn't afford the used car prices when they shot up, so a bought a bike. Don't mind me, I'm just a tiny data point.
What is relatively small for you? I ask because what my brother got sure didn't seem relatively small to me.
Fed reserve study connecting individual stimulus and PPP funds to car purchases, that causing a dip in inventories, and resulting upward pressure on car prices, new and used. Obviously supply chain issues were a driver of low inventories. If you want to claim some pedantic victory over "big reason" you got me. Still doesn't change the fact that people voted with the pocket books and Id posit the two biggest financial burdens in peoples lives played a much larger role in their voting decision than "eGgS!"
That's not what I said. You're acting like it's somehow unreasonable for someone to say, "hey, this thing you said sounds wrong, where's your evidence?" But, hey, go on and feel persecuted if you want.
I can't blame him. The voters just decided that the law doesn't matter; no reason to let his son rot (especially under Trump's bureau of prisons) in order to uphold some notion of judicial independence that clearly no one cares about.
The law stopped mattering the instant Trump wasn't sent to GITMO over Jan 6 and the stolen documents immediately when it fucking happened. This is just him playing by those very rules to protect his own which I'm not going to criticise given the context.
Hunter Biden pardoned by President Biden. While Deja Taylor got 21 months for one of the crimes Hunter was convicted of. People should be throwing a fit. Neither party gives a shit about holding elites accountable for crimes.
What's the point of being president if you can't do stuff like that? Aren't you used to the rules not apply for the rich and powerful? I know that you have a raging hate-boner for Hunter Biden, but in the grand scheme of things, what he did didn't amount to Jack Shit. Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio, one of the most crooked law "enforcement" officers this country has ever seen. Were you crying any tears over that?
Trump pardoned pieces of shit that casually mowed down women and children with machine guns. But— because they were soldiers, that was good enough for him. Pardoning Hunter is less than fucking nothing compared that, and it never, EVER gets brought up. It’s pathetically hypocritical for Republicans to even shed a single tear over this shit, KNOWING the company they keep. You chose the scumbags, so just fucking be one. What’s next, Jim Jordan bitching about pedophiles? Good on Biden for learning and using the same egotistical, self-involved bullshit that Republican presidents use, and fuck them entirely if they don’t like it. It’s their tactic.
I have a hate boner? Is that related to a lady boner? I say ‘surprising no one’ because what dad wouldn’t do something like that for his son? His phraseology is interesting in the announcement. It sounds like it was either drafted with Hunter’s lawyers and or with the intent to throw another political grenade before he leaves office. In my head I think Biden is still pissed about being forced out and wants to force the party to handle the political fall out of this. It also kind of dares Trump to respond as well getting him on the record railing on pardons before the inevitable firestorm of his own pardons. Trump would do best to side step the issue like he did with abortion during the campaign. Claim he’d have pardoned him anyway and move on.
Yeah, this wasn’t any shocking news - as expected as Biden being pushed aside after the debate. Dixie just has a raging hate-boner for anyone who doesn’t have a raging hate-boner for whomever he thinks deserves a raging hate-boner.
