Do you think Adams approached the DOJ first, or did they approach him? Or did Turkey get the ball rolling?
Is there a legal definition of “saving one’s country” in the US Code? Also, why is “Frost/Nixon” suddenly so anticlimactic?
The Canada and Greenland shit is laying groundwork to pull out of Nato. Because that's what Russia wants. Bet.
Not sure if I remember correctly, but didn’t Congress pass a law when Biden was President that they couldn’t just pull out of nato? I don’t remember the wording or anything. I thought I remembered something like that.
Looks like you’re correct. End of 2023 they made it a requirement that leaving NATO takes a vote on par with a constitutional amendment.
So that being the case, we can’t just pull out of the alliance, but that doesn’t necessarily stop Trump from just not allowing our military take action? Should the need arise?
Spoiler Another missed opportunity as not a single NASCAR driver had the balls to put him into the wall.
When will that retard city stop electing police chiefs as mayor? They have never had one that wasn’t corrupt, did they not learn from Giuliani?
We aren't stocking up but head dipshit in charge has The Wifey and I spooked enough about major shit happening that I'm going back to work on Monday. A few years ago we laid out our long-term finances and should be fine but we weren't accounting for a possible WWIII, Civil War, more extreme inflation, a deep recession or all four. Plan is to pad the buffer a little more before shit hits the fan. Anyone else making changes to their long-term plans because of President Dingus?
This has been a while in the making, but I'm definitely prioritizing climate resilience in figuring out where I want to be long term. Increasingly likely that I'll head home to New England.
I’m accepting failure a little more, instead of hoping for success. We in debt and we never gettin’ out.
Like most people I’ve talked to, travel plans are changed permanently. Mexico will now be getting our vacation money, a trend that I personally hope explodes up here. I already had tickets to the Sabres game this coming Saturday from a while back, but that will be that last time America sees my family’s cash until that fat piece of shit is dead and anyone in his regime a pariah or incarcerated.
Found out companies are getting rid of DEI programs, because keeping them exposes them to legal liability from white people who sue claiming they were discriminated against. So, don't believe the outrage of a given company saying they no longer have a DEI program, all it means is they are trying not to get sued. It is exactly as stupid as it sounds. We've cancelled plans for buying a home, upgrading vehicles, most forms of discretionary spending, and are eating out no more than 1x a week. If we don't absolutely need it, it doesn't get bought, and I've saved a few grand over the past month alone. I got a bunch of tickets to events for Christmas, and I think we're down to 2-3 shows, and we're not adding to the list. We've also been trying to get rid of stuff, in the event I get fired and can relocate out of the DMV. I'm debt-free and thanks to Fucktard Fuhrer, I'm staying that way. Gf is on her way as well, frustrated that her student loans now have no hope. Some of this is typical Jan/Feb. behavior for me, as winter sucks and I will save money after blowing it all during Christmas. When we get to March, I think shit will get real. We expect a furlough starting on March 14, if we still have jobs then, and we expect food prices to skyrocket as the immigrants who pick it are nowhere to be found. There's a ton of services around here that have gotten more expensive or slow or both, because the Latino folks who work those jobs are disappearing. One of my elderly neighbors is frantic because their landscaping service basically closed up and fucked off, and the quotes they are getting are almost triple what they were paying. The only major new purchase we have planned is guns.
I'm getting closer and closer to just pulling the plug and fucking off into Northern Ontario with the dog in the Airstream, buying a piece of land and a boat. I don't think I'm impacted by The Dingus or the fallout from the current shit in a meaningful way, other than just wanting to get away from people more and more. I'm heavily immersed in the AI tech scene right now so I can see shit changing with that (legislation, etc), but I'm having fun at work and seem to still be able to do it effectively, so I'm still sticking around. Right now my biggest concern is with long term medical care. I'm getting older, and did not win the genetic lottery around longevity, so have some concerns around stroking out miles/hours away from a solid hospital... while here in London we have some of the best medical care in North America. All in all I consider myself to be extremely lucky with all this shit going on.
I really hope Canada and the rest of the civilized world boycott the shit out of our country for the next four years. Maybe enough economic pain will wake up enough people so that the MAGA idiots are completely ostracized.
I know a lot of people, including immediate family, that are changing their travel plans accordingly. My mom has one bus tour she's doing that is pre-paid and she can't cancel without huge penalty, so she's doing it, but 2 other trips she's had planned have been changed to be not in the US. Just my immediate family and in-laws have changed over $50k of plans away from the US, and are taking the "buy Canadian" seriously in the stores. In grocery stores right now, there's a bunch of stuff that is upside down on the shelves... because people are figuring out what is from the US and putting it back, upside down. Canadian options are gone from the shelves, US options just sitting there. The top 2 apps on the Apple App Store right now are "identify stuff made in Canada" apps. Flag sales are at 300% over last year already.
