But I am not looking forward to work, I try and keep out of it, but 95% are hard line Cons. There is going to be lots of interesting talk.
Oh hey... remember those tariffs that the US people would absolutely not be paying? Turns out that a bunch of resellers, like AliExpress and now Amazon, are explicitly listing out the importing fee (tariff) in the pricing. The Trump admin is not at all happy about such transparency. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/29/whi...ff-cost-report-hostile-and-political-act.html
Some of the posts I've been seeing around online purchases, especially for solar panels, have been insane. Apparently there's a 1500% tariff on solar panels, and I've seen receipts posted where a $65 item come out to over $1k after the tariff is added. Insane.
And the crying begins: “PAPER BALLOTS? With PENCIL? I refuse to believe conservatives lost!!!” Yeah, fuck you. You would have to have hundreds people in each riding to pull off such a bullshit conspiracy. Eat your shit sandwich.
Don’t worry, though. Because of the Trump admin being pissed, Amazon says it’s not going to happen. the transparency, I mean.
I do not envy you. Their bitterness sure isn’t going away in 24 hours. Discussing politics in person with just about anybody is toxic. People just get too fired up and condescending once they get going, and it’s basically the only thing people talk about now. Its inescapable. My friends and I agree not to discuss politics when we hang out— 80’s style. Back then hardly anyone trumpeted their beliefs and they all got along so much better for it.
The tools box talk sucked, "votes were bought" "the western provinces should secede" "the liberal election machine worked overtime", i have 20 minutes until first coffee. bluetooth ear buds for the win, some youtube is going to be playing. Yea, i tend not to talk politics with many people because i would have even less friends then i do now.
100%. I have developed an intense loathing for many of my friends and relatives, and I’m having a really hard time being civil with them. The only way I keep even a shred of sanity is to compartmentalize. This is the friend I drink beer with, that is the friend I talk baseball with, over here is my cousin, with whom I only talk about my aunt, etc. It’s exhausting hating so many people.
