I'm not a republican, and yeah, Bush was as bad or worse than Hillary. Trump is no paragon of integrity either.
I think he is saying that if you keep accusing her of things that turn out to mean nothing when something actually does merit an investigation/ punishment no one will pay attention. It has nothing to do with bush or trump.
You realize there's people who literally want an investigation to find out if she's a lizard, right? I'm not sure what your point would prove. If it's that naive people will deflect to the most absurd conspiracies about a candidate to try to demonstrate no wrong doing, then no shit.
I think it is that republicans have spent so long demonizing Hillary that by this point regardless of evidence everyone has their mind made up. Even if this new investigation shows she sent emails calling for the assassination of Obama, it would be almost meaningless because dems would just say it's another republican ploy and republicans would just day "typical Hillary!" And actual bombshell revelations will mean nothing because republicans have spent so much time trying to turn fire crackers into bombshells.
So we're defending willful ignorance now? You could easily apply this logic to Obama and Bush. Some people are partisans who deny everything because they're on that team. Others are more repulsed by Trump. That's what it amounts to, and silly accusations aside, it's not like this is the first time Hillary has done anything suspect. Not by a fucking long shot.
No, I'm saying the republicans have spent so much time screaming about a fire where none existed that when they called the fire department this time they're getting ignored. But yes, it's the democrats fault that she's been investigated more than any human on the planet and never had charges filed. Clearly dems are the ones not seeing reality.
You know what demonizes her more than anything? Her own actions and words. In the debates she was asked about emails from Wikileaks, and instead of discussing the contents, she totally redirected all attention to HOW it was obtained. That is shady as fuck, and screams that she doesn't want to have any official statement about those emails on record. Rather than confirm or deny them, she ignored them. Classic misdirection, which the DNC does as well. Case in point: Watch that interview and you can feel your brain implode. EDIT: long day and misinterpreted some stuff... redacted.
Hoo boy. The NY Times is reporting the new e-mails came to light after they seized Anthony Weiner & Huma Abedin's electronic devices and there are possibly thousands of them. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/29/us/politics/fbi-hillary-clinton-email.html?_r=0
Is anyone going to write in Evan McMullin in their state? As if his chances weren't small enough, you have to write in Nathan Johnson for VP instead of Mindy Finn. So, I'm assuming back when they filed paperwork, Johnson said, "oh, haha, sure, you can put me down for VP." And now that there's some national coverage, he's all, "Uh, hey, so you were serious? I'm out." I know he stands absolutely no chance, but now that the voting is electronic, and since Utah's non-eastern time zone means more delay on the results, it would be hilarious if the whole thing was delayed while they're counting write-ins. Or having a judge get up at 1:00 a.m. to rule on whether or not Even McMillian counts as a vote for him. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/polls-may-be-underestimating-evan-mcmullins-chances-in-utah/
Not to trigger anyone, but the beast is rising. The GOP base is coming home after the sex scandals broke, but I think that's all but saturated at this point. The undecided and 3rd party voters are being gobbled up, but Clinton is getting her own too. Still plenty enough to sway the election, but the spread is probably dropping to more in the 75/25 range.
They've found their spin: I'm sure it's nothing. The FBI routinely opens investigations on presidential candidates a week and half before the election, right?
I would laugh so hard if the FBI just released all the e-mails to the public. Not that it will happen, but that's about what she deserves. *If there is highly classified information in there they obviously can't do that. **There's not enough time for this happen, and it won't happen regardless, but if Hillary won the election while in prison she could in theory just pardon herself, right?
I've stated over and over that I'm not voting this election, but I've changed my mind mostly thanks to this thread, and I'm pretty sure y'all know which direction I'm voting. Let me explain my reasoning, because I consider both candidates huge pieces of shit. We've had numerous people say they're voting straight Democrat because that's the party that most aligns with their personal beliefs. I can somewhat respect that, I wouldn't vote against my base beliefs either. But, and this is a huge but, those same people also say they don't care how crooked Hillary is, they're voting for her regardless. That makes no sense to me. I've always voted for who I thought the best, most qualified person was, not who was on "My team." There's one thing I would hope we can all agree on is the fact that our system is broken. Health care costs have skyrocketed and actually hurt middle class families that are now penalized for not having enough money to pay for the cost of insurance. How is that even legal? Wages are stagnant and not keeping up with inflation. More people are on government subsidies then ever before. Personal wealth is down. Workforce participation is at all time lows. That's a pretty bleak picture. When the Clintons left the White House 16 years ago they claimed they were broke. Now they're worth something like $165M. As public "Servants." I see a huge problem there. Maybe you don't, and God bless you if you don't think there is something highly shady going on. Don't get me wrong....Trump is a huge piece of shit too. But at the very least a vote for him is sending a clear message that I'm sick and tired of all the pandering, bullshit, and partisan crap. Even the Republican establishment hates him because they know he has tapped into the anger people are feeling about all this bullshit. I am so ready for this election to be over. Unfortunately, it's not going to be over on November 8th. This is going to go on and on. Remember how bad many people thought the Tea Party was? They rose to prominence right after Obama was elected. Now we've got Trump. It's not going to get better until the system is fixed.
Oh my fucking Christ. I swear to God, I remember when this was a somewhat respectable network. As to what you're saying Toytoy, makes me think of this and sums up my thoughts on the establishment. Haven't read it, but it's probably an interesting read.
You're aware that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right? Even networks. It was an op-ed, not a news report. I happen to agree with him that the statement about the E-mails at this time was foolish and unnecessary, though I don't think he should resign. A firm and public reprimand by Obama, followed by an explanation of why it was not only incorrect but inappropriate to make such an announcement would suffice. Regardless, this will just make the difference between a Clinton landslide and Clinton winning comfortably. It won't change the outcome. Too many people have already made up their minds. And those that do change them (if not a statistically insignificant number anyway), are going to be largely mitigated by those who have already voted.
