Yeah, I get it in the sense that it has legal repercussions. I'm not questioning why there is an investigation. I just don't see how, barring something really, really substantial it could change people's opinions of her personally at this point. She's already been caught approving drone strikes on her fucking cellphone. We know she's a careless idiot and doesn't care about proper procedure. She's already guilty of dozens of other criminal acts.

Then again, my opinion of her has pretty much bottomed out. It would take her selling a nuke to terrorists or stabbing a child to go much lower.

What if something really serious is found and she's brought up on charges?

At that point, what people think doesn't matter.

That's why I find the scenario of a presidential pardon so amusing. Depending on what it was she'd probably just get impeached and we'd end up with Tim Kaine. The dems would care a lot less at that point with Trump out of the way.

Realistically though, the charges would likely just get dropped.

Then we get to through months and months and months of deja vu of what it's like to have a Clinton in office. With any luck we'll get a piece of wisdom like "It depends on what your definition of 'Is' is."

Well, we have gone from 1,000 to tens of thousands.

Would any of the tech people care to speculate what was found or rather how? I'm not sure if I'm phrasing my question right. I'm trying to figure out what they have access to. With that kind of volume would it mean something like her entire email history? This is a very luddite question, but would my computer have the data of all my sent and received emails from my gmail account? And at that point it doesn't make sense that no emails were from or to Hillary (like another source stated), right? Because if there wasn't email to HRC, who was her top aide talking to so much?

Well the emails were probably "on the laptop" itself if they were an archive file of emails saved off of the mail (I.e. Exchange) server or something. I guess they could just have multiple email accounts and the question really is whether those emails were transmitted through Clinton's private server.

But the emails have to go through a server of some kind, and that laptop is not going to be it.

Here's why the email scandal doesn't matter to me, as a voter:
If something significant develops out of this, she will be impeached and it will be ironic as fuck.

That's a big if, and the Republicans have cried wolf on her and her family literally since I was a child and nothing....NOTHING has developed from it. A dude who has been divorced three times tried to get Bill Clinton impeached for lying about a blowjob in front of his wife. That shit show? That was Act 1 of a never-ending drama of nonsense.

How am I, a reasonable adult with an open mind, supposed to take any of these accusations seriously, especially from Donald "I know, you can trust me, but I won't tell you how I know" Trump, king of, if nothing else, unverified claims.

The FBI will sort it out, I have confidence in them to do their jobs. If there are charges filed, then I will pay attention. Until then, it's a distraction.

I am sick to fucking death of the back and forth here: "Trump's racist/mysoginist/bigoted, Hillary's corrupt/criminal."

    Hillary's tax returns:
    http://money.cnn.com/2016/08/12/pf/taxes/hillary-clinton-tax-return/index.html

Her money is accounted for, unlike Trump's.

Going through her emails is degrading, sure....but what in the fuck are they going to find? Her trading nuclear secrets for squash recipes?

Hillary Clinton is the best player in the game, and we don't like it because it's a shitty, deceitful game and we are seeing behind the curtain for the first time. In a lot of ways, Trump is the ONLY candidate who could get this far against her, because he simply hasn't ran anything at that level. That's why this campaign has been so negative: all Trump can do is throw stones, because he's never governed a fucking thing, and we learned from Bush that business skills don't translate well.

I also like the fact that her opinion changes based on facts, polls and data. I need a representative that can a) get shit done and b) listen to what's actually happening, versus what Jesus whispered to her in the car or whatever and c) cut through the obstructionist bullshit. I definitely don't like either candidate's innate moral compass, but I feel like Hillary does a better job of listening to the people she's supposed to represent (and surrounding herself with good people rather than a complete array of douchey fucksticks).

Here's why the email scandal should matter.

If you worked for pfizer and used gmail to send confidential emails, you'd be fired on the spot, kicked out the door good luck and good riddance. Somehow this same standard doesn't apply to her. She treated her emails flippantly and put national interests at risk.

Her disregard, her casual attitude with this material is unacceptable and would cause anyone else to be fired. People want to talk about privilege? This is the height of privilege.

Any person on here would be fired in an instant for this and likely prosecuted. She's becoming president instead.

Too bad this is the serious thread, because I'm sure there's a joke in there about Wiener and her box.

Piecing together several things from several news reports, it appears that the FBI was separately investigating Wiener about his whole sexting thing, because he was sending messages to a teenage girl. And, in the course of that, they inspected his laptop, which at some point he shared with Huma Abedin. So, they came across those emails, and realized that they were NOT ones that had previously been reviewed in the investigation about Clinton's private server usage. Is that right?

I was asking about the deleted emails from the original investigation. But, for this more recent case, they didn't know whether or not they were the same emails from the original investigation or something new. Just that there were a lot of emails relating to Clinton and they were worth reading to see if they would connect back/bring something new to the first one. (At least based on what Comey said. Unless new info came out today, I haven't been following the news since last night.)

Where have people been living the last 20 years? You guys remember George Bush? I can't speak for anyone else, but I knew most of this shit about Hillary before the primaries even started. It's just easier to prove now. Political documentaries have been pointing out the corruption and conflicts of interest for as long as I can remember.

Regarding racism and the election, 538 had an interesting discussion about the deplorables awhile back. The top reporters there hate Trump, but had some pretty interesting demographics leading up to this election.

I think we could all agree that believing one race unintelligent is a racist sentiment. Surprisingly, there isn't a wide a gap between white democrats and republicans, but not so surprising, it's a relatively low percentage of the demographic. Here's where the gap widens:

I think there's a lot of misunderstanding in this because of the way the media constantly portrays the black community. It's always activists with little regard for responsibility within the citizens themselves, and blame is always focused outward. That's not without an element of truth in certain circles, but it's a misrepresentation to say the least. This is still a popular idea (blacks lacking motivation) among democrats, which makes sense to me as there's a lot of people on the left who are reticent towards the narrative that all impoverished people are victims, but remain skeptical.

Just thought it was an interesting look at where viewpoints among whitey are trending.

At this point I'm thinking Comey should have waited to release the fact that they have more potential emails to investigate.

Justice Dept. Strongly Discouraged Comey on Move in Clinton Email Case

If you don't even know you can look at them yet, you might want to not announce to the American people that they exist 11 days before an election. I'm sure they will be granted access to them, but they shouldn't get ahead of themselves here.

Comey has a history of doing stuff like this... he likes to inject himself into situations that he doesn't belong, and put out statements to get his name/face out there.

It seems like there's no good reason to make the announcement he did, or send the vague follow-up letter to Congress that doesn't clarify anything.

Yeah, because law enforcement has never been known to release information or even false information to the public or media as a way to make someone slip up and expose themselves. Uh, maybe in Wiener's case, that's not the best phrase.

I hear you, but if you're going to cry foul because Comey is a dick you might want to write me 10 years ago when I might have given a fuck because you have the same thoughts.

I hear you, but I really don't like this guy inserting himself into the election at this late date. He hadn't even read the emails when he sent that letter to Congress. All he had to do was read the emails, THEN determine if there was something there and inform Congress. This play he made is such partisan bullshit that I hope the next President sends him packing.

The problem is this 'email' scandal has dragged on and on. To date, they have discovered 1, exactly 1, email out of 33,000 that contained 'classified' material. Do you guys know what that looks like? You'll be reading a letter and there will be a (c) - somewhere in the body - designating classified material. In this case, it was a condolence letter and the classified material was a general statement about the drone wars. Enough already. Do I like Hillary? Nope, but this 'scandal' is such a waste of time.

How do I know this? Republicans are already talking about impeachment. Think about that for a minute. The President hasn't even been elected and the other party is threatening to lock her up and impeach her. I have never seen anything like it in American politics.

The one thing I hope is the Republican party implodes. It is an embarrassment at this point and has outlived it's goals.
