I think this was a pretty pivotal moment actually. Not because of the content being about transgender people. But because the military basically refused a direct order from the commander in chief.

Which in itself is comforting because it means they won't let Trump do anything fucking suicidal unless it comes from Mattis. And he's much, much smarter.

Come on, a tweet as a direct order? Did it have any force of law at all in any capacity? Im more curious to how they'll react in the case they do further impact studies and such, would he accept anything that doesn't fit his narrative? If he turns formal research and recommendations from the DoD and tries to push it anyway, how do they react to that? Or how theyd react to a formal order from him.

I don't know my constitutional law, but I didn't think the President could give direct orders as Commander-in-chief unless the US was at war.

Apart from the debate of the policy itself, it's not that dumb on his part. He can use it as gauge. If the public response is all backlash, then he's done and nothing else happens, but he can tell the voters that wanted that, "hey, I tried." And, if the response is positive, then the joint chiefs have info to meet the December deadline that the Sec Def gave them, after he extended last year's order with the July 2017 deadline.

Online polls are completely meaningless. By that metric the most popular flavor of Snapple is "Hitler Did Nothing Wrong."

But, honestly, if you can get past the ashy aftertaste, it's pretty good.

They are used to more simpler polls like "Yes or No: do you believe that asparagus makes your pee smell funny?"

This is the White House under the intense pressure of...advancing a legislative agenda their party has had 7 years to plan for.

Can you imagine how poorly these schmucks are going to respond to an honest to god crisis?

Way to go, Trump voters. Way to fucking go.

Eh. Just because he spoke like that doesn't mean he's dumb. I just think his judgement is garbage. Which could mean he's dumb. But I think him being so candid on the record is a product of inexperience.

Apparently he didn't even realize he was on the record. He called the reporter and just started talking without requesting it be off record or on background.

The president hired a guy who doesn't understand basic journalism practices to be his communications director. The incompetence of all this is staggering. He should be fired immediately.

The biggest problem is that no one worth a shit wants these jobs because Trump is a volitale mix of toxicity and incapability.

The guy seems like a cokehead.

He's calling the leak of his public dinner engagement schedule a felony that is being investigated by the FBI. He's publicly calling Priebus a leaker. He's saying that he wants to "kill all the fucking leakers".

He's an idiot and I doubt he will last long at all.

Yeah but by being such an idiot he keeps at least a small percentage of the immediate heat off trump. If he does that, he serves his purpose, in trump's eyes.

Personally, I find the whole thing absolutely hilarious so the more dumbass assholes that jump into the fire the better.
