Thats what I was thinking too and this might seem a little nutty, but here is my theory... Donald Trump needs to save face from all the North Korea talk. He knew he wouldn't launch any kind of military strike, but with all the escalating tweets, it would look weak for him to back off from it now. So if he can get Bannon to "betray" him, he can use that interview to obliquely get his own message out about not doing anything militarily to NK and then "fire" Bannon for doing that interview behind his back. If Breitbart doesn't start attacking Trump, think hard about Bannon's "firing".
I don't know where they got it (Twitter, e-mail, etc) but MSNBC just read a statement from Breitbart. They went after Trump and said without Bannon electing Trump was the same as electing Jeb Bush. They had some other points but their focus seemed to be Bannon was a nationalist and Trump was going to be a globalist without him.
Bannon was the voice in his ear saying "let them cry racism" until Trump looked around and saw he was defending Nazi's and white supremacists...and it cost him money. Simple as that.
With all the people he's fired or chased away in six months, he really was telling the truth about draining the swamp. Too bad the peat bog mummy in charge remains.
So does Bannon go away quietly or torch the place on the way out? Everyone else who was fired still has political ambitions it seemed (spicer, mooch) that would require them to keep things to themselves for the time being. Bannon's constituency would like him more if he starts burning bridges I'm guessing.
I think he torches the place. He's back running Breitbart, and they're talking shit about Trump, so I see nothing good for Trump coming from this. I know I stocked up on popcorn today.
Well according to him in this quote from when he was definitely not on coke: “I feel jacked up,” he says. “Now I’m free. I’ve got my hands back on my weapons. Someone said, ‘it’s Bannon the Barbarian.’ I am definitely going to crush the opposition. There’s no doubt. I built a f***ing machine at Breitbart. And now I’m about to go back, knowing what I know, and we’re about to rev that machine up. And rev it up we will do.” (From here)
What a dangerously insane human being. And this guy had the ear of the man with the launch codes? Four stars. Call him what you want: Conspiracy theorist. Tabloid journalist. Fat. He is indeed all three of those things. And pretty much only those things. All the back peddling that about to happen with be state-of-the-art. Breitbart's alt-right follower army vs. Themselves in a battle of "What The Fuck Do I Do Now And Still Save Face?" On our side of the border "The Rebel" is in deep shit because it seems Ezra Lavant once again opened his mouth. Now they're disintegrating.
I think Bannon will go after people around Trump. He said he will take on Trump's enemies. He's going to smear a lot of people in the administration but I don't think he will directly attack Trump. That would be too obvious. And he knows a lot of things.
Seems pretty clear that this was Round 1 of Kelly/McMaster vs Bannon, and the generals took the round, but Bannon's coming out swinging for Round 2. His goal will be to back Trump into a corner and not give him viable options (given the risk of pissing of his base) except those which Bannon approves of. On the other side of things, Kelly and McMaster will purge the few Bannon loyalists that remain and make every effort to prevent Bannon-style thinking from reaching the President's ears. Should be a fun (and by fun I mean the combination of fun and terrifying that fun has come to mean in 2017) battle to watch.
Did you see the CNN anchor who ran through the past four weeks of Trump news? It was pretty epic. Regardless of anything else the White House is a gagglefuck of bizarre.
No I didn't but I'm sure I can find the clip somewhere. CNN is hilariously dramatic about it which is why I watch them. Anything I watch is on tv is gonna be biased, might as well watch the funny one instead of the infuriating ones. Trump vs Bannon is perfect WWE material. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if there was a WWE cage match with a sitting president. And his base would LOVE it!!!
Trump just killed off the federal advisory committee on climate change. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...mate-change/?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.4c6b7f785783
At least now we all know what happens when literally the dumbest member of an entire party gets put in charge.
But he's not a member of the Republican party. He's given a lot of money to the Democratic party over the years. There are videos of him saying the economy does better under Democrats (which I believe is backed up by data) and that if he ran for president it would be as a Republican because they're idiots. I'm not sure how to articulate it but a quote from The Usual Suspects comes to mined, "The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." Can someone smarter than me make sense of that or, at the least, make me realize I need to up my meds.
You need to put that in the context of the opportunist he is. Just because he gave money to dems doesn't mean it was because he liked them. He did it for favorability. He gave money to Hillary in the past. I wonder how much other politicians knew the extent that he was in it with the Russians for years?
Trump's ideology is Trump; it never has been and never will be any deeper than that. He does that which serves his narcissism and that's about it. For this reason, he is almost wholly unbound by the need to have his policy be coherent, make sense, or be effective. He only cares about the adulation of the crowd, about "winning," and about getting power over his enemies. To that end, he simply reflected back to the Republican base whatever it wanted to hear, with no consideration for things like political fallout, compromise, or having to govern. And what we found out is that the Republican base wants some truly appalling things.
