This is a fantastic picture from the moment when Trump went off the rails when he was talking to the UN: In case you don't recognize him, the guy with the severe migraine is White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
Remember when Bush used to make the Cubans walk out with his fucking mouth? This time the collective is "Who the fuck is this retard? Is he doing a bit or something?" I could tell you what his wife is thinking but nobody can tell you, the chick is wallpaper.
I heard part of it on the radio and it honestly didn't sound that bad to me. I probably missed the part where he went full lunatic though.
Was that what was such a big deal? Frankly, I don't think there is a diplomatic solution with North Korea, and I'm sick of hearing politicians say "We need to try for a diplomatic solution." They've been trying for decades. It goes no where. The only diplomatic solution is the one where we get China to stop propping them up. Bombastic or not, I guess I just don't give that much of a shit whether it was regarded as inappropriate or not. North Korea has a limited capacity to truly threaten others at the moment. Keep searching for a 'diplomatic solution' and they will in time, and I'm not looking forward to how they use that leverage.
The problem is that it's a credibility issue: Trump doesn't have any. Someone with a track record of good diplomacy and who's respected by other world leaders goes up and says the exact same thing as Trump did and the reaction is completely different; people would take it more seriously and give it thought and consideration. With Trump, people just assume if he follows through with his threat he's just going to fuck it up and make things worse. And Trump has done absolutely nothing to try to improve his credibility with other leaders, so it's a problem.
Yeah, that's true. I didn't hear the whole thing and he probably threatened them in the stupidest way possible as well. But as far as giving a shit that he threatened them in that forum? Meh, I really don't.
http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...tement-on-trump-a-frightened-dog-barks-louder Kim Jong Un manages to make himself look presidential and like a real leader and castigates Trump for looking like a maniac.
Even in this game, Trump is amateur. Fat baby has known nothing but political leadership his whole life. Even though he's a horrible a human being, I think he's smarter than Trump. In addition, he has an entire populace of beaten and starved people who rely on him for every need. Trump can slide into the mud and start to wrestle with the pig, but what he doesn't know is that the pig enjoys it. And the pig has the upper hand.
Oh c'mon. In no way does he have an upper hand or look presidential. I wouldn't let antipathy toward Trump cloud the actual reality here. China did just agree to order banks to stop doing business with North Korea, one thing Trump said he would get them to do. And as far as Kim having the "populace beaten and starved," I'm not sure what your point is. Should Trump do that to get the upper hand? 50 years of diplomacy has exactly yielded positive results. Now the screws are being tightened, unfortunately it might be too late. I dont put that fault on Trump as much as I dislike him. Kim is a horrible, violent dictator. Trump is just kind of a moron. Any kind of comparison is laughable.
Except for this one: Both leaders are perceived by the international community as buffoonish, tantrum-throwing man-children.
Perhaps you're right, I'm blinded by my hatred for Trump. In my own naive opinion I think Trump is not winning friends and influencing people in the international community by ranting on about "America first!" and destroying Best Korea at the U.N. Trump is that guy at the party who gets a couple drinks in him and starts ranting about the Ay-rabs and Habibs taking over this country and all you can do is step slowly away from him and turn your back. At the least he's doing nothing to increase his base for re-election in 2020.
Objectively, Kim has learned the key to his survival is nuclear weapons. We taught him that lesson clearly through our interactions with failed states. Why didn't we fuck with Pakistan in the post-9/11 shit storm? They had nukes. Why did we fuck with Saddam? He didn't. There are generally two paths forward: ignore Kim's threats, and de-escalate the tension. As in, if we don't pose an existential threat to his regime, there's no point for him to develop nukes. Or, acknowledge his threats and destabilize the regime as quickly as possible before he develops nukes. If he gets a successful nuclear weapon, it's a disaster for the region. China, Russia, Japan SK and the US all have to work together to ensure this doesn't happen. Now, with Trump in charge, the deft diplomatic hand one would require to do this simply doesn't exist.
The main difference to me is that on the whole, we arent executed by the president for speaking out against him and the administration. The thing that keeps Kim Jong Un in power is the fact that the entire country doesn't rebel against him and the military and also the crazy system in place to keep people in check. Trump utilizes tactics to try to manipulate people just like dictators do. I think Trump would love to be just like Kim Jong Un as far as the type of power he has. He loves violent dictators. It's also evident in the way everyone in the administration thinks people in the government should live. With the amount of time spent at vacation houses and using private jets and tone deaf social media posts, it looks more like a monarchy than anything else. Not to say that fraud and abuse haven't happened in other administrations. But in the last few years, a congressman resigned when it was discovered that he used tax payer money to redecorate his office excessively. No one is holding anyone to any kind of ethical standard anymore. If these were dems, the GOP would be calling for public beheadings.
I get not liking Trump, but I find it hilarious people get so wrapped up in the partisanship that they're praising Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Un sounded like a crazy idiot, same as he always does.
Only a retard would praise him. But it's fair to point out that Kim's criticism of Trump is accurate. That's not praise, but evil people can make a correct statement. Being a bad person doesn't negate a true statement because it comes from a bad person.
At that point you might as well just shoot the nukes straight up. I can't think of a course of action worse for NK than nuking China. Should that occur: 1) China would immediately retaliate with overwhelming force, across a northern border that is not nearly as well defended as the southern border. 2) The United States and South Korea would immediately attack under the assumption that all bets are off and they need to eliminate NK's offensive capability in the South. I suppose a certain point you can't be "double utterly destroyed" but good God would the response be brutal for NK.
