Basically they were fishing for any form of bias that they could quote and use against them (it’s not as if the WaPo being left-leaning is some sort of scoop). They’re trying to discredit the reporters, not get the story retracted for being what they believe is false. And in the process, these liars nailed themselves to the wall instead with their own tactics. Be-au-tiful.
Yeah dude, you do. Did you see his fundraising email where he needs our money to "beat the WaPo to the presses" and publish the REAL story? It wasn't sent until *after* the WaPo story broke, but do you think his audience knows that? Or do they just "know" that their crusading truth-teller is under attack from the fake news media?
It didn’t take long for companies to start trolling Project Veritas. I love this. Keep relentlessly beating on these clowns until they go down and STAY DOWN. http://uproxx.com/news/netflix-troll-project-veritas-roy-moore-operative-sting/ Why aren’t more people mad about this? Somebody just made up rape lies to discredit a child molestation claim. They should be crucifying these cocksuckers on every channel.
Liberals already dislike them for previous stunts, and conservatives remain faithful that this is a fluke and msm setup. It's like tossing a rock in a pond, where the waves all flow out and away. They've gotta hit that wall before they come back to the center.
Veritas’ metal gymnastics are really grasping at straws right now. They’re still treating this like a scoop.
It does them no good to retract and apologize. Best to double down, ride it out. They know their audience is fickle.
I mean, for some people it does, right? I still hear about Duke Lacrosse whenever a sexual assault accusation comes up.
No, but it did fuck up Rolling Stone’s credibility for a long time. They have some decent political writers(if you like ultra left politics) and published some good articles. Now, because that story was so egregiously sourced and fucked up, it jacked up their press worthiness. If these Veritas cocksuckers were able to wreck the credibility of a major news outlet, it wouldn’t fuck up rape accusations as much as it would call into question wapo’s cred. While still also proving why people are so unlikely to come forward with rape and sexual assault allegations. What they did in this situation is so fucking atrocious on so many levels, I might even wish cancer on their kids.
Rolling Stone was the fake UVA rape story. Which they still haven’t been rightfully punished for, and the instigator of it all still gets to live in protected anonymity.
The UVA hoax was a false accusation of a fraternity where this sociopath “Jackie” claimed she was gang-raped on a pile of broken glass by the fraternity brothers while being mocked. She fabricated this bullshit entirely just for the purpose of getting some guy she was sweating to white-knight her over this. The fraternity and its members were attacked and ruined, as was the school dean by the story. Rolling Stone had to fork over a few measly million in a lawsuit and that’s it. No jail, no loss of jobs, nothing to see here.
The Duke LaCrosse case was where a stripper said she was raped by 3 players, and completely made the story up. The media went crazy over it. White guys rape black woman, college campus patriarchy, etc. etc. Last I heard the prosecutor had been dis-barred and she was in jail for other issues.
The accuser ended up in prison for murder. Her name was Crystal Magnum (yeah) and she was found with five different types of sperm in her, not one of them belonging to a Duke Lacrosse player. Of course that didn’t prevent America’s sweetheart Amanda Marcotte from publicly stating that anybody who supported the lacrosse players were rape apologists. And she still gets reminded of this pretty much any time she opens her yap.
It didn't ruin their credibility just because it was a false story, it was how they pushed the article out. The author wanted to find a story that was "emblematic of life on college campuses." The fact that you would find the worst crime in the entire country to portray campus life in general is screwed up to begin with. I mean, you don't really need anything more than her motivation for writing the article in the first place to understand why the magazine put out such a turd. Just listen to any of her interviews, and she's clearly not a journalist, she's an (crazy) activist and not right in the head. Then, there was the fact that they didn't even manage to corroborate the most basic details of the story, like when the party took place. The icing on the cake was how the story was overflowing with cartoonishly absurd rape culture stuff, like when Jackie meets her friend bleeding from every orifice, dress ripped to shreds, half conscious, etc and her friend is like "Why didn't you just enjoy it? All those hot frat guys." I think news publications can get away with a fuck up once in awhile, but that story was so fubared on so many levels. There was a lot more to it than "We didn't verify Jackie's account to the extent we should have." It really was. I haven't even seen many die hard conservatives trying to defend Moore. They're out there, but fewer than there normally is when a case like this comes up. Presumably because the victims were underage. You have to really, really fuck up to lose as a republican in Alabama, and it's incredible that a democrat might actually win there. Even the republicans still voting for him (which is still a good number) seem to want him to win and then be immediately expelled from the senate and replaced, which is another level of bizarre. In a way, that would be pretty funny to watch happen though.
Even the brightest minds of TMMB branded the players guilty immediately, because "of course those frat jocks would".
This is somewhat of a rant i know but how is really the only option to just keep hammering the White House about some of this stuff? After Trump retweets videos showing crimes purported to be committed by Muslims there’s have been some questions about the authenticity of the videos. Sarah Sanders response? “Whether it is a real video, the threat is real”. So basically who cares whether we are spreading propaganda as long as it supports the point we are trying to make, the ends justify the means. That was probably within twelve minutes of another one of Trump’s fake news rants. I had originally blown off a lot of the “he’s trying to distract people” stuff as bit of conspiracy and finding fault in everything the other side did. But besides Trump just living in his own delusional fantasy world is there another answer? Not specifically to this but also with any of the other stupidity he spouts off daily.
Solid Category 5 tweetstorm this morning. The usual attack on CNN/NBC, but then he went ham and accused a former member of Congress of murdering his own intern, and then started retweeting racist propaganda videos from Europe. Good stuff.
A great way to highlight the issues this country has in dealing with mental illness, is to have our own president displaying latent mental illness.
I am thinking that President Trump is trying real hard to make sure he is out of the White House before 2018. Seriously, as ROTN pointed out above, does anyone question that our President might be at least a bit mentally unhinged?
He’s a crazy piece of shit, that’s for sure. In being who he is, he has allowed us to see the true colors of a lot of people in our lives. Those who blindly support him, and those who are thoughtful and principled. He has shown us the limits of what can happen in our country, and it may not have gotten to the worst part yet(outside of the civil war). We always took for granted that our politicians will behave a certain way, speak a certain way, and maintain a general sense of civility. But we can now see that it’s not a given and it doesn’t matter. It’s up to us if we ever want it to be better again.
